Ongoing Manhunt For Cultists: arrests of eleven suspected cultists/armed robbers, & recovery of one locally made gun, 4 live cartridges, and other incriminating items


Following recent cult clashes and killings in Ughelli and other parts of Delta State, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Aina Adesola, directed an intensified, intelligence-led manhunt for cultists and other violent criminal elements across the state. In line with this directive, the Command has recorded the following achievements:

Arrest Of Confessed Cultists And Recovery Of One Locally Made Gun, And Four (4) Live Cartridges In Ughelli

In a decisive strike, operatives of the CP Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), led by ASP Julius Robinson, have dismantled a cult killing network linked to the recent cult clashes in Ughelli town, as part of ongoing efforts to curb cult-related violence in Delta State.

NDLEA intercepts Brazilian lady with N3b he**in in coffee packs at Abuja airport

A 30-year-old Brazilian lady, Ms. Ingrid Rosa Benevides has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja for bringing into Nigeria a total of 30.09 kilograms of white he**in concealed in factory sealed coffee packs worth over N3 billion in street value.
The suspect who works as a private security officer in Brazil was arrested at the Abuja airport on Friday 23rd January 2026 upon her arrival on a Qatar Airways flight QR1431, following processed intelligence. After her arrest, a search was conducted on her two checked-in bags where 21 factory-sealed packets of Brazilian coffee were found.

The Secretary-General of the World Customs Organisation (WCO), Ian Saunders, has described Nigeria’s Time Release Study (TRS) as a practical and evidence-based reform capable of strengthening border efficiency, boosting trade competitiveness within trade corridors in Africa and enhancing national safety.

Saunders stated this on Monday, 26th January 2026, during the presentation of the TRS Report conducted at Tin Can Island Port, noting that the study offers Nigeria “specific and objective insights” into how its border clearance processes function and where targeted improvements can be made.

The Lagos State Taskforce has apprehended a woman, Alimat Yusuf Idowu (a.k.a. Asabi Alagbo), alongside one Ola, Sanjay,.Aliu and other individuals who are currently at large for their involvement in the illegal sale of stickers to commercial vehicles and unpainted vehicles, popularly known as “kabukabu,” as a means of evading arrest and sanctions after traffic violations within the Lagos metropolis.

The arrests were carried out across several strategic locations, including Oshodi, Isolo, Mushin, Apapa, Mile 2, Apapa Expressway, Iyana-Ipaja, Abule-Egba, Ile-Epo, and other parts of the State to track down their agents and distribution channels.
