🚨UNBELIEVABLE 🗣 From Benfica president Rui Costa on Darwin Nunez transfer:

“When we heard Liverpool FC were interested, we were hoping to get 40-45 million as Darwin had a good season.
Two days later, we received an official faxed bid of €80m with add-ons from Liverpool FC. The room erupted into laughter.

I told my assistant to fax back asking for €100m with add-ons. Next morning a new bid worth €100m in total arrived.
The world has gone crazy; we had better strikers in our youth team. I ordered my assistant to open a bottle of champagne; it felt like we had won the lottery.”

However, Mbappé's record against Barcelona in eight matches is 2 wins, 1 draw, and 5 losses, meaning he has lost all four of his matches against the club since joining Real Madrid.

OFFICIAL: Messi signs new contract with Inter Miami until 2028

MLS has officially confirmed that Messi has renewed his contract with Inter Miami and will continue with the team. He joined Miami in July 2023 and has since become an iconic figure for the club.

In 2025, he contributed 48 goals or assists in 28 regular season appearances, the second-highest single-season total in league history. He also had a direct hand in at least three goals in nine of those games, also a league record.

This month also marked Messi's third MLS Player of the Month award this season (in May, July, and October) and fifth in his career. He is the first player in MLS history to win at least five Player of the Month awards in two years.

In addition, he is the third player in MLS history to win three Player of the Month awards in the same season, joining Carlos Vela in 2019 and Chris Wondolowski in 2012.

If you want to break Messi's 8 d'or record, you have to break Ronaldo's 5 first.

If you want to break Messi's 6 golden boot record, you gotta break Ronaldo's 4 first.

If you want to break Messi's 91 goals in a calendar year record, you have to break Ronaldo's 69 goals in a calendar year first.

And if you want to break Messi’s World Cup Golden Ball record, well… you’ll have to break Ronaldo’s first — oh wait… he doesn’t have one. My bad

Rashford told condition for permanent Barcelona transfer after ‘fortunate’ move

Michael Owen believes that Marcus Rashford will earn a permanent move to Barcelona, with the former United player enjoying a revival at the Camp Nou since his switch in the summer

Michael Owen believes Marcus Rashford could secure a permanent transfer to Barcelona. The 27-year-old is currently relishing a successful season-long loan at the Camp Nou, with his future at Old Trafford uncertain.

Rashford found himself out of favour under Ruben Amorim shortly after the Portuguese manager's arrival in Manchester last November. Consequently, he spent the latter part of last season on loan at Aston Villa.

Upon his return to Manchester this summer, he was still left out of his manager's plans. As a result, he sought another move away from his boyhood club, whether that be on a permanent or a temporary basis.

The England star's request was fulfilled when Barcelona signed him on a year-long deal, with the Spanish giants also having an option to buy him outright next summer for around £30million.

And former United forward Owen believes the Catalans might decide to activate the clause. Speaking to 247Bet, Owen said: "I think he has definitely got the ability to earn a permanent move there, and he's almost been given a new lease of life now.

"Some would say he's been very fortunate, because he'd been really off his games for a number of seasons. So this is a massive chance, and he's got to grab it with both hands.

"But I think he's very capable and, if his head is in the right place, then I think he will earn a permanent move."

Since his move to Barcelona, Rashford has been on fire, netting five goals and providing six assists in just 12 appearances across all competitions, flourishing under the guidance of Hansi Flick.

That's also despite fierce competition from players like Lamine Yamal and Raphinha. Rashford, who started as a centre-forward in Barca's Champions League match against Olympiakos on Tuesday night, managed to score twice in a 6-1 rout at home.

His focus now shifts to Barcelona's biggest challenge yet, as they prepare to face off against Real Madrid in El Clasico this Sunday afternoon. United, meanwhile, have started to turn the tide in the Premier League as of recent.

While Amorim's future was cast into speculation as a result of a poor start to the season, he has started to prove his worth with the club via a number of positive results as of late.

The Red Devils secured a 2-0 win over a newly-promoted Sunderland AFC ahead of the international break. When Premier League action returned at the weekend, United were also able to steal a 2-1 win over bitter rivals Liverpool at Anfield, much to the rejoice of the red side of Manchester.

Marcus Rashford appears to U-turn as Barcelona star explains transfer decision
Marcus Rashford has been in fine form for Barcelona since joining the club on loan from Man Utd in the summer transfer window – and now he is preparing to face Real Madrid

Marcus Rashford has revealed the opportunity to feature in El Clasico against Real Madrid was among the key factors behind his summer switch to Barcelona. The striker secured a loan move to the Catalan club from Manchester United during the summer transfer window.

Barcelona have an option to make the arrangement permanent next year for a fee of £26 million. Rashford continued his impressive form as he netted twice in his team's commanding 6-1 Champions League victory over Olympiacos on Tuesday night.

Next up for Barca is a showdown with arch-rivals Real at the Santiago Bernabeu this Sunday. And it is match that Rashford is eagerly anticipating.

"The Clasico is a great game and that's why I've come here for this number of games," he said. "I am looking forward to it, I hope we win."

Despite previously insisting that his optimal role is out wide on the left flank, he thrived in a more central striking position against the Greek outfit. And following Tuesday night's win, Rashford confessed: "It could be my best performance with Barca.

"I'm ready to bring out the best in me in the team. I prefer to play on the wing, but I don't care. I intend to help and do the best I can."

The remarks follow Barcelona manager Hansi Flick's endorsement of Rashford's capabilities in a central role. "Marcus can be a No.9 or a No.11, he told TNT Sport.

"When we think of him, we value the fact that he can play in more than one position. He has given us a lot of positives and, of course, he can play as a centre forward."

An injury to Ferran Torres resulted in Rashford being deployed centrally against Olympiacos. However, Torres' return to fitness means he could be shifted back to a wide position for this weekend's Clasico.

Managing Barcelona 'has changed me completely', says Flick

Hansi Flick says managing Barcelona has "changed" him completely, as his Blaugrana team seek a return to winning ways in the Champions League.

After opening their European campaign with a 2-1 away win over Newcastle United, Flick's side fell to a 2-1 defeat against reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain last time out.

Barca also suffered a shock 4-1 loss to Sevilla in LaLiga off the back of that defeat, but on Saturday, they emerged from the international break with a 2-1 win over neighbours Girona.

The 2024-25 semi-finalists sit 16th in the Champions League standings, with Tuesday's visitors in 29th and still winless after a draw with Pafos and a loss to Arsenal.

"The victory against Girona was very important and it has been noticeable in the atmosphere of the training," said Flick.

"We have a young team and we needed it. We have analysed the match and we must run more and press better.

"They [Olympiacos] are very good offensively and we have to be attentive to their attackers. They have a clear idea of their game and we will have to be alert."

This will be just the third meeting between Barca and Olympiacos, with the previous two coming in the 2017-18 group stage in the Champions League. Barcelona won 3-1 in the home fixture, before drawing 0-0 in Greece.

Barca have scored at least one goal in each of their last 22 Champions League matches, netting 58 goals in that span.

If they find the net on Tuesday, it will be their outright second-longest scoring run in the competition, only behind a 29-game streak between November 2009 and March 2012, recorded under Pep Guardiola and including a 2011 final win over Manchester United.

Flick, who has made the Blaugrana one of Europe's most entertaining sides since taking the reins last season, now feels a sense of belonging in Catalonia.

"Now I feel the emotions more, this club has changed me completely," the former Germany and Bayern Munich boss said.

"I love Barca, I love the city of Barcelona and the people here. I give my all and live for the club."

Football rules could be revised before the 2026 World Cup. The reason? The 'Wenger Law' has been reintroduced, stronger than ever.

Arsène Wenger, FIFA's Director of Development, accelerated his idea to change the offside law, according to Eduardo Iturralde, a former Spanish referee, in his column on Cadena Ser radio.

🗣️ "This time, the people I've spoken to have told me it could go ahead. Between late October, November, and December of this year, the committee of experts and technicians will study the proposal. There are 23 players and 11 referees. The thing is, the boss of those 23 players and 11 referees is, in fact, Wenger," the referee explained.

What does the rule change entail? It favors attackers:

What the Frenchman is proposing is an idea to give a greater advantage to players in attacking positions who are closer to the opponent's goal than some of their opponents. These players will be eligible simply by matching a part of their body with which they can legally score a goal (i.e., hands and arms do not count) with any part of a player's body in a defensive position.

Here We Go! Romano: Ex Everton manager Dyche appointed as Nottingham Forest boss

Here We Go! Romano: Former Everton manager Sean Dyche appointed as Nottingham Forest boss

Fabrizio Romano confirmed with his iconic "Here We Go" that former Burnley and Everton manager Sean Dyche will become the new head coach of Nottingham Forest.

Romano said: "Here We Go! Sean Dyche is set to sign a contract to become Nottingham Forest's new head coach. The two parties will sign a contract until June 2027. A verbal agreement has been reached between the two sides, and the documents are pending signature. Forest hopes to have Dyche lead the team in the Europa League match against Porto, and the decision has been confirmed.

Dyche is the third head coach Forest has appointed this season. Previously, the club dismissed Nuno Espírito Santo and Stefano Postecoglou successively, with Postecoglou being sacked after just 39 days in charge. Nottingham Forest currently have 5 points from 8 Premier League games and are in the relegation zone.

The 54-year-old English coach Dyche has previously managed Watford, Burnley and Everton. He has 332 Premier League coaching games under his belt, with a record of 93 wins, 91 draws and 148 losses.

Dyche took over Everton from Frank Lampard in January 2023 and was dismissed by Everton in January this year, remaining unemployed since then.
