TikTok has temporarily disabled its late-night "LIVE" feature in Nigeria following a surge in broadcasts containing explicit sexual acts and other adult content. Nigerian users will not be able to host or watch LIVE sessions between 11pm and 5am, the hours featuring the most explicit content. The platform says it aims to protect users and strengthen content safety. TikTok has previously removed over 49,000 live sessions in Nigeria featuring sexual content and has not specified how long the current restriction will last.

A great deal of people have played an instrumental part in the realisation of "A Chronicle of Abuja" both in physical form and digital form. These great individuals through their noble roles, preserved the historical and cultural heritage of our dear Abuja (Suleja) Emirate.

First and foremost, special gratitude goes to the 6th Emir of Zazzau, Abuja, HRH Sulaiman Barau OBE, who gave his utmost support and blessings for the actualización of this project. May Allah continue to bless you, Your Royal Highness, sir.

The duo authors, Alhaji Hassan and Mallam Shuaibu Na'ibi, did a wonderful job of bringing the history of Abuja to writing. Their contributions will always be remembered. May Allah continue to bless you, sirs.

A Chronicle of Abuja may never have been read in English if Mr Frank L. Heath had not given us the liberty of an English translation of the book. He deserves praise from the people of Abuja (Suleja) Emirate. May the Lord bless you, sir.

The man whose effort is often overlooked is Abdallah Uba Adamu, who in 2023, restructured and uploaded the book as a digital copy where everyone can easily search and download it. Your effort is appreciated, sir. May Allah bless you and your family, sir.

I could remember back then in 2019 when I was going up and down looking for a copy of the book, but couldn't get any. I searched the whole Internet and nothing came up. The joy I feel right now knowing that I can easily download the PDF of the book is quite immeasurable.

May Allah bless all the people who played a role in making this a reality. They did a great job of preserving our history and thanks to their effort, our children and grandchildren will know their origin. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

For those of you with the impression that Abu Ja and Abu Kwaka are children of Muhamman Makau, that's not true.

According to "A Chronicle of Abuja", page 16, Abu Ja and Abu Kwaka are among the numerous brothers and sisters of Muhamman Makau Dan Ishaku Jatau. However, while Makau and Abu Kwaka are from the same mother, Abu Ja is from a different mother.

When Abu Ja's mother died while he was an infant, he was breastfed and cared for by Makau's mum. The 3 siblings are children of King Ishaku Jatau of Zazzau, Zaria.

More details coming soon. ✌🏾

Attention! Attention!! Attention!!!

We've recently made the blunder of saying that the book "A chronicle of Abuja" was written by the 6th Emir of Zazzau, Abuja, Mallam Sulaiman Barau OBE which is not right.

We made that statement due to the information available to us. We've tried countless times to obtain a copy and getting one before now would have done us a lot of good and avoid the earlier mistake. Thankfully, we now have a copy.

Nonetheless, ignore the statement anywhere you come across it as its not the fact. The fact is "A chronicle of Abuja" was written by Alhaji Hassan and Mallam Shuaibu Na'ibi and was published in 1952.

Thank you for your understanding 🙏🏾

Alhassan Dantata & Sons: A Historical Landmark in Kano, Nigeria

This building, located in the Sarari quarters of Kano, Nigeria, houses Alhassan Dantata & Sons, one of the most notable historical businesses in West Africa. Founded by Alhassan Dantata, a legendary businessman and trader, the company became a symbol of entrepreneurial success in the region. By the 1940s, Dantata had established himself as the richest man in West Africa.

The business was involved in diverse ventures, including groundnut buying, building contracting, and transportation. It was also a major supplier to British trading companies operating in Nigeria during the colonial era. One of Dantata’s most famous contributions to Nigeria’s economy was the construction of the Kano Groundnut Pyramids, enormous stacks that could hold approximately 15,000 bags of groundnuts each, representing the height of agricultural trade in Northern Nigeria.

The legacy of Alhassan Dantata extends beyond his lifetime. His great-grandson, Aliko Dangote, has inherited the family’s entrepreneurial spirit and is currently recognized as Africa’s richest person, continuing the family’s impact on Nigerian business and commerce.

The building of Alhassan Dantata & Sons remains a historical landmark, reflecting the industrious spirit of Kano and the entrepreneurial heritage of Northern Nigeria.

PRESIDENTIAL DIRECTIVE ON WITHDRAWAL OF POLICE PERSONNEL FROM VIP ES**RT DUTIES: NIGERIA POLICE FORCE RECORDS HIGH LEVEL OF COMPLIANCE

The Nigeria Police Force wishes to inform the general public that, in strict compliance with the directive of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, prohibiting the deployment of police personnel for VIP es**rt and guard duties, the Force Headquarters constituted a special enforcement team to monitor and ensure total adherence to the presidential order.

On 6th December 2025, commencing at about 1000 hours, the enforcement team carried out an extensive monitoring exercise across key locations in Lagos State, including the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge, the Domestic Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, and several other strategic points.

The exercise revealed a satisfactory and commendable level of compliance by officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force. No case of unauthorised deployment of police personnel for VIP es**rt duties was recorded during the monitoring, and consequently, no arrest was made.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, reiterates the Force’s commitment to the full implementation of the presidential directive. The Nigeria Police Force remains resolute in redeploying its personnel to core policing duties aimed at enhancing general security, crime prevention, and protection of lives and property across the country.

Members of the public are assured that the Nigeria Police Force will continue to enforce this policy nationwide without fear or favour and urges continued support as the Force works towards a more professional, efficient, and citizen-centered policing system.

Boeing, one of the world's largest airplane manufacturers, is collaborating with the Nigerian government to establish a state-of-the-art aircraft maintenance facility in Nigeria.

This will be the first of its kind in Africa. Currently, Nigerian airlines incur significant expenses by sending their planes to foreign countries for repairs.

The new centre will enable them to conduct maintenance, servicing, and repairs domestically.

Officials report that Nigeria spends approximately $200 million annually on overseas aircraft maintenance.

This new facility will retain this expenditure within Nigeria and contribute to the growth of the country's aviation industry.
