Song of Festival Lights

The radiance of Advent
cuts through the night
melting darkness away,
leaving the land drenched in lights.

Lights dancing on electric poles;
lights swaying on the shrubs
and lights painting the porticos
in hues of uncommon brightness

Innocent-faced youths
run riot with sparklers
branded as celestial fires
that do not burn kids.

Adolescents trade singing rockets
as groups compete for dominance
of superior fire and klieg power
at this Festival of Lights

From the main ways to the alleys
joyful contests hold sway
at this annual Festival of Lights
that rainbows the skies

The glow and the pride of the season
bring singing groups to homes after homes,
sharing songs of love, joy and peace
about the Messiah, who will save the land.

What would we not give then as now
to have this festival more often
where there is much light, more love
more laughter and more giving in the land?

When the Media is on your mind, you'll know that the Entertainment Media is an important subject which teaches that the Popular is seldom Correct, and reminds you that writing it right remains a communication asset as the story of the Master of His Age rightly conveys; even if the path of Nigerian editors is one of Uneven Steps, which brings Bitter-sweet recollections from the Voices Within. Nigerian Columnists and their Art reminds one of the great example of one for whom it was Media All the Way and the need to pause regularly and ask if our media remain Watchdogs or Captured Media.
