Before now, I used to think Committee of friends for a wedding preparation are those friends that will help arrange canopy, chairs, help carry cooler of wedding rice and drinks from yard to the wedding venue etc. I never knew it's now an avenue for compulsory fund raising for the couple. Ahhhh, why una no give me this update on time.
So one of my guy called to notify me that his wedding was coming up and he would like me to be included among the committee of friends that will assist. I said okay and gave him my WhatsApp number with hopes of assisting with arranging of canopies, chairs and doing ask me work on the day, as well as monitor those who have drank coke so they don't take Fanta again
Later in the day, I saw myself in a whatsapp group with the name *Butex Friends* (not the real name). They were discussing plenty things in the group that I didn't find interesting. Moreover, I hardly comment in a whatsapp group and secondly, I hardly know the group members.
One guy who was acting as the Committee Chairman abi moderator now said we will be having meeting by 10pm and everyone should be available for introduction and support. Wetin concern me Kwanu? My own is to read and do mtwersss.
Around 10pm, they did their introduction and the Chairman said left for him, he would say nobody should contribute less than 50k to support our guy who was doing his wedding. Omoh, immediately I read that part of his speech, I rushed and logged into my Zenith bank mobile app to make sure my 10,500 naira was still intact. Make I know when person won scam me
Before I could say yaaa, Chairman sent a receipt of 100k. Another sent 70k. Many sent in 50k and some sent in 30k. I didn't even know they were taking note of those that sent and those that didn't.
Me na Committee of friends i join to help pack plate and carry cooler of rice on wedding day. I no say make person add me for yahoo group oo.
The next morning, I saw more receipts of 100k down to 20k which was the minimum. I said okay and did 👍 for those that sent in the group. I no go be poor man kon still be witch on top. At least, make I clap for them. I used ♥️♥️ emoji and typed "Doings 🔥 based on believe" so I no go be ceremonial member
I went about my hustle, only for one number to call me. He introduced himself as the Chairman of the committee and pleaded I pay up my own money so as to enable the couples to start their wedding preparations on time.
Ohhh, na we won marry for the guy? I asked within me. Okay sir, be expecting my own alert by evening I assured him.
Hope say e go loud? he asked jokingly. E go loud pass your own self I promised him. Based on believe brotherly. I said before hanging on
Ladies and gentlemen, while men were asleep around 2am, I quietly exited the group without making noise.
When the Chairman called to know why I left the group, I told him wrong number. He should check the number he called again.
