The Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Matawalle, announced on Saturday evening in Birnin Kebbi that the military has pinpointed the location where the kidnapped female students from Kebbi State are being held. He said security forces have made significant progress in the rescue effort and have deployed personnel across Kebbi, Zamfara and Niger states. Matawalle urged local residents to cooperate with the authorities to ensure a successful operation.

The incident that prompted the response occurred on Monday, November 17 2025, when gunmen stormed Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Danko Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, k!lling a security guard and the school’s vice‑principal and abducting 25 students . The defence minister’s statement indicates that the military now has a clear idea of the hideout and is moving forward with the rescue.
