WHAT THIS MAN DID, IS IT RIGHT ?

This retired civil servant in Abuja sold his family house without telling his wife or children.

Months before anyone suspected anything, the original house documents had already been quietly moved out of the house for safekeeping.

So when strangers eventually showed up for inspection, it had already gone too far to reverse.

That house wasn’t inherited. It came from years of deductions, years of sacrifice, living inside one of those government quarters that were later sold to occupants.

But retirement changed the balance of power inside the house.

His wife controlled most decisions, and gradually the children adopted her tone until the man who paid for the roof over their heads became almost invisible inside it.

He said there was even a period he fell seriously sick and nobody asked if he had eaten before leaving the house each morning.

Around that same period, his entire gratuity was taken to fund a family business. It was supposed to help everyone. It collapsed before one year.

That was when the quiet planning began. Not loudly, not emotionally but silently. He decided he would rather start life again alone than remain in a house where he felt unwanted.

Months later, the house was sold privately for 90 million.

A smaller house in a quiet suburb was purchased for 18 million, and the rest was secured quietly.

At home, nothing looked suspicious. No arguments, no sudden tension.

Weeks before leaving, clothes were gradually packed under the excuse of sending them to the dry cleaner.

Then one day, he travelled for what was described as a consultancy job. He never returned to that house again.

The truth surfaced the day the new owner sent people to inspect it.

Panic started immediately, his children that haven't checked on him since he travelled started calling nonstop, asking what was going on. That was when he confirmed it himself.

Yes, the house had been sold. By then, nothing could be undone.

Attempts were made to trace his new location, but he had already moved carefully and deliberately.
He said something that stayed with me since I heard the story:

“I didn’t abandon my family… I simply inherited myself before they buried me alive."

Last weekend, I went for a wedding… and something there really got me thinking.

After the church joining, we all moved to the reception. You know how it usually is,music playing, people excited, everyone ready to dance, eat and celebrate.

But this one was different.

At the entrance, there were security personnel, bouncers, and ushers standing very serious. No one just walked in.

There was a long queue.

Before you could enter, you had to .. Check your name on a seating list
– Confirm your table number on a big backdrop
– Get a wrist tag tied to your hand
– And even after all that… the ushers still double-checked your name on a hard copy

Ah ah 😳… it was that serious.

As I stood there watching, my heart was beating small-small.

“What if my name is not there?”

But when I finally saw my name… not just once, but on both list..

I smiled and said quietly.

Because in that moment, I saw something deeper.

Some people came all dressed up… looking good… ready to celebrate…
But their names were not found.

You needed to see their faces.

Confusion.
Embarrassment.
Disappointment.

They had come with expectation… but couldn’t enter.
And right there, something hit me hard.

This life we are living… is like that wedding reception.

One day, we will all show up.

Not in a*oebi.
Not with makeup.
Not with titles.

But with our lives.

And there is a list… a real one.

The Book of Life.

The question is not,
“Did you go to church?”
“Were you a good person?”
“Did people like you?”

The real question is…

Is your name there?

Because imagine going through this life… all the stress, all the hustle, all the ups and downs…

And then you arrive at eternity…

Only to hear:

“We can’t find your name.”

That will be heartbreaking 💔

Infact I don’t even want to imagine that moment.

That wedding humbled me.

It reminded me that access is not by appearance… it is by registration.

So today, I’m asking you (and myself too)

Are we truly living in a way that secures our place?
Is our name written where it matters most?

Because at the end of it all…
It’s not about who knew you on earth.

It’s about whether heaven knows you.

Let this not just be another post you scroll past.

Think about it.
Reflect on it.
And make it right.

Brief History of Onions
Onions (scientifically known as Allium cepa) are one of the oldest cultivated vegetables in human history. They are believed to have originated in parts of Central Asia, particularly regions around modern-day Iran and Pakistan.
Historical records show that onions were grown and used as food as far back as 5,000 years ago. In ancient Egypt, onions were highly valued and even placed in tombs of kings because they symbolized eternity due to their circular layers. Workers who built the pyramids were also fed onions for strength.
The Greeks and Romans also used onions widely, both as food and medicine. As trade expanded, onions spread across Europe and eventually to Africa and other parts of the world. Today, they are grown globally and are a staple in many cuisines, including Nigerian dishes.
Importance of Onions
1. Nutritional Value
Onions are rich in vitamins such as vitamin C and B6, and contain important minerals like potassium. They also have antioxidants that help protect the body.
2. Health Benefits
They help boost immunity, improve heart health, and may reduce the risk of certain diseases due to their anti-inflammatory properties.
3. Culinary Uses
Onions add flavor, aroma, and depth to food. They are used in soups, stews, sauces, and many traditional meals.
4. Medicinal Uses
Traditionally, onions have been used to treat coughs, colds, and infections due to their natural antibacterial properties.
5. Economic Importance
Onions are an important cash crop for farmers. They contribute to local markets and international trade, providing income and employment.

At the wedding reception, everyone noticed them immediately—not because they were the most glamorous couple, but because they were impossible to miss.
He stood tall above the crowd, his height making him easy to spot from anywhere in the hall. His suit, a deep royal blue, fit snugly around his protruding stomach, which he carried with an easy confidence. Beside him stood his bride, small and radiant, wearing a perfectly matching blue gown. She barely reached his chest, yet somehow, they looked like they belonged in the same frame—like two pieces of a puzzle no one else could understand.
When they danced, it was almost comical at first. He bent slightly so their eyes could meet, and she stretched up just enough to rest her head against him. Some guests whispered and smiled at their contrast. But then something shifted.
He looked at her—not at the crowd, not at the cameras—just her. And she laughed, a soft, genuine laugh that made his whole face light up. In that moment, his height didn’t matter. Her size didn’t matter. Not even the curve of his stomach mattered.
What mattered was how carefully he held her, as though she were the most delicate thing in the world. And how she looked at him, as though he were exactly the man she had prayed for—no adjustments needed.
Later that night, as they stepped outside for fresh air, she teased him, “You know, I’ll need a ladder just to hug you properly.”
He smiled, placing her hand over his chest. “And I’ll need this belly to remind me I’ve been well-fed—by your love.”
She shook her head, laughing again, and leaned into him.
Under the quiet night sky, dressed in the same color but shaped so differently, they stood as proof of something simple:
Love doesn’t measure height.
It doesn’t count inches or judge appearances.
It simply chooses—and stays.

*THE DAY I REALIZED THAT 35 YEARS OF HARD WORK… OR EVEN 65/70 YEARS OF AGE… CAN STILL END WITH EMPTY HANDS*

They organized a grand retirement ceremony for him.
Music everywhere. Beautiful speeches.
People calling him “a man of integrity,” someone who gave his strength and youth to a system he believed would reward him.

But when the celebration ended, he walked into a quiet room… holding nothing but an envelope.

Inside was his gratuity.

Enough to clear debts.
Enough to repair a leaking roof. But not enough to build a future.

Thirty years of service…
Yet:
No house.
No business.
No investment.
Just a pension too small to fight inflation.

This is the hidden story of millions.
We work.
We stay loyal.
We pray.
But many of us never learn how money grows.

We believe salary equals security. We call “saving” investing. We expect the system to take care of us — forgetting the system is not structured to make us wealthy.

*A PAINFUL EXAMPLE MANY WON’T ADMIT*

I regret buying a car in 2011/2012. That car cost ₦1.5 million.

At that time, ₦1.5 million could buy three plots of land in a certain area.

Fast-forward to 2025…

One plot of land there is now ₦20 million.

Three plots = ₦60 million today.

But can I sell that same car for ₦20 million in 2025? No. In fact, it is worth almost nothing.

That is how money behaves:
Assets grow.
Liabilities decay.

This is why some people retire with tears.

*THE BITTER BUT NECESSARY TRUTH*

Hard work alone doesn’t create wealth. Wisdom, knowledge, and financial insight do.

“By wisdom a house is built…” Not by effort alone.

Nigeria is full of opportunities:

Land cheaper than a new phone. Businesses that cost less than one a*o ebi. Investments that grow while you sleep.

But if you don’t learn how multiplication works, you will spend your whole life chasing money… and retire with nothing to show for it.

*THE CALL TO WISDOM*

Stop clapping for long service. Start building long-term assets. Stop waiting for salary increase. Start increasing income streams. Stop blaming the economy. Start learning the laws of wealth.

Because when you retire, nobody will ask how many years you served.
They will ask:
“What did you build?”

This message is a sincere warning, a prayer, to everyone of us still in government/public service or private organization.

Please take it seriously.

May God give you the wisdom to make decisions today that will reward you tomorrow.

*Plan wisely against your retirement and a life after retirement*
