If a student dreams of becoming a Nigerian Naval Officer, the journey begins with making the right subject choices in secondary school and meeting the entry requirements.
HOW TO BECOME A NIGERIAN NAVAL OFFICER
1. Complete Secondary School
Obtain at least five (5) credits in WAEC, NECO, or GCE in not more than two sittings.
The compulsory subjects are:
English Language
Mathematics
2. Choose the Right Subjects
The subjects depend on the course you want to study at the university or the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA).
For Science Students (recommended for most Navy officer roles):
English Language
Mathematics
Physics
Chemistry
Biology
Further Mathematics (optional but an advantage)
Geography
Computer Studies
For Engineering Aspirants:
English
Mathematics
Physics
Chemistry
Further Mathematics
For Medical Aspirants:
English
Mathematics
Physics
Chemistry
Biology
For Arts or Social Science Courses:
English
Mathematics
Government
Economics
Literature in English
CRS/IRS
Geography
3. Gain Admission Through One of These Routes
Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA): Apply after secondary school, write the entrance examination, pass the screening and interview, and complete military and academic training.
Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC): For graduates with the required qualifications in approved fields.
Direct Regular Commission (DRC): For qualified professionals in selected disciplines.
4. Meet the General Requirements
Be a Nigerian citizen.
Be medically, physically, and mentally fit.
Have good character with no criminal record.
Meet the required age and height standards.
Pass the Navy's aptitude test, physical fitness test, and interview.
IMPORTANT ADVICE FOR SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS
If your ambition is to become a Naval Officer, focus on:
Studying hard, especially English, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
Maintaining good discipline and character.
Keeping physically fit through regular exercise.
Avoiding cultism, drug abuse, and criminal activities.
Staying informed about recruitment announcements from the Nigerian Navy.
A career in the Navy is a noble opportunity to serve Nigeria, protect the nation's territorial waters, and build a rewarding profession with excellent training and career advancement.

Dear Students,
The long holiday is here! Congratulations on completing another academic session.
Remember, holidays are not only for sleeping, watching movies, or playing games all day.

They are an opportunity to become a better version of yourself.
Here are ten things you should do during this holiday:

1- Read at least one good book every week to improve your knowledge.
Revise your class notes so you don't forget what you have learned.

2-- Learn a digital skill such as Microsoft Office, graphic design, coding, video editing, or virtual assistance.

3-- Develop a vocational skill like tailoring, baking, hairdressing, shoemaking, or farming.
