Episode 1

A teenager dressed in a light blue shirt and worn-out jeans walked through the campus of Sunshire City University. His eyes frequently looking on the ground, as if searching for something.
The boy had decent looks, but his clothes seemed like they hadn't been washed in ages. The black stains on his cuffs were particularly noticeable. Passing students looked at him with disdain, avoiding him as if he were a plague.
Brentley Carter seemed accustomed to these looks. With a calm expression, he headed towards a discarded water bottle by the roadside

KEN SARO WIWA could not believe what happened to him. Lesson: Do not sabotage your own people's efforts towards their liberation.

He never believed Abacha would confirm his death sentence!

From Oputa panel revelations, on the day of his ex*****on, unable to face his fate with fortitude because he believed that his sentence would be commutted.

When they came for him, he kept on asking if Abacha was aware?

He Resisted being led to the ex*****on point, kept on protesting for time as he expected reprieve would come at the 11th hour.

To calm him, he was shown the ex*****on order signed by Abacha, but he frantically denounced it as fake, demanding audience with Abacha immediately.

The officer commanding the squad, a junior officer told him, the only report his superiors would listen to would be report of his death and nothing else.

Wiwa reverted to telling his killers how close he was to Abacha; the afternoons they spent playing tennis at 2nd Artillery brigade in Port Harcourt in the 70s, the nice evenings they used to have. That during the Ogoni protests, he had expected Abacha to have called him based on old times and asked him the least Ogoni would have accepted.

Wiwa pleaded and pleaded for his life to be spared. His pleas fell on deaf ears.

"Oh God", he screamed, let my pleas work. His eyes were greasy with welling tears.

Why should today be his last day on earth?
What crimes did he commit? That he asked for his people to have a share of the wealth that comes from their land? The land that no longer supports farming or fishing because of oil spillage.

He mistook the officer's dark reflections for contemplations of pity!

Any independent observer would conclude that Saro deserves pity and more. He had worked for it. His efforts during the civil war shortened the duration and saved thousands of Nigerian soldiers lives.

You see, while the Biafran blocked Omanelu and Isiokpo axis through Elele Junction, Saro was able to organise guides who guided the Nigerian soldiers to infiltrate through Etche, Alulu, link up to Ihiagwa and Nekede, connect Obosima and cutoff the Biafran soldiers who had successfully blocked the 3rd Marine Commandos Advance led by Black Scorpion.

Wiwa was rewarded with appointment as the Civilian Administrator of the port city of Bonny.
And it was really this bit of history that was the bone of contention.

He rightly or wrongly believed he had equal stake in the territory called Nigeria, having staked his life and helped in defeating those who were neigbours to him.

So, the shares of spoils of war, for which oil was the paramount spoil should be extended to his people, because without their efforts it would have been impossible to subdue Biafra in the battle field.

Remember that the 3rd Marine Commandos were eventually routed from Owerri, just before the end of the war, wherein Black Scorpion among the few to escape, had to escape dressed as a woman, for which he was court marshalled and dishonourably discharged. Adekunle the scorpion died a pauper, neglected by the federal side he fought for.

On the other hand, Wiwa's erstwhile partners in conquest/crime, believed they have more than adequately rewarded him by making him an administrator of the city of Bonny and also making him a commissioner in Rivers State.
So he should keep off the oil, whether it was drilled from his village or not.

Posterity would judge who was right between him and those Abacha represented. For me as a scholar, I believe his requests or demands were in other. Eye wey see deal, the follow share. The child who pounded the pepper is entitled to a share.

Wiwa's fate had been decided, the day he asked about the oil.

The recipients of the message were people from the oil-producing communities. None would dare ask questions about "our oil" after Wiwa's ex*****on.

At that point, the captain gave his orders and he was lifted up, struggling and protesting till he was tied up and killed.

When the question of the whereabouts of Wiwa's body was raised at the Oputa panel, one of the soldiers giving evidence reported that it was completely dissolved in acid.

â˜đŸŸThis is an intelligent narrative beautifully written.

But I should add that Mr Saro-Wiwa - like Adaka Boro and many other "Niger Delta" youths who would betray their new republic - had studied at secondary school and university on Eastern Nigeria scholarship.

It should also be noted that because of Saro-Wiwa's betrayal, he was also rewarded with countless number of "abandoned properties", including some previously belonging to Chief John Anyaehie (late father of Barr Nnamdi Anyaehie, CoS to Governor Uzodinma).

Late Sani Abacha and late Saro-Wiwa onced lived together in one of the abandoned properties he had seized.

Ken Saro Wiwa's son, Ken Jnr also died very young. He died suddenly in London on 18 October 2016, aged 47, after suffering a stroke.

Finally, recall that, before Saro-Wiwa's arrest, he had run to the same Enugu and the same Chukwuemeka Odimegwu-Ojukwu he had betrayed, to ask for Igbo intervention in his murder case. It was then that Ojukwu uttered that immortal word "Okokorokoooo" to the frightened Ogoni man.

The meeting that Saro-Wiwa attended was at Hotel Presidential Enugu, built by Michael Okpara who had given Saro-Wiwa scholarship to study at Government College Umuahia - and also betrayed by Saro-Wiwa!

The Igbo descendants of Israel are celebrating the Eri Festival.

It is an Ancient Igbo festival celebrated by Ezeora Kings at Obu-Gad in Enugwu Aguleri.

This remarkable festival has been observed from the ancient times in memory of Eri’s journey and subsequent settlement in Igboland. This ancient tradition is magnificent.

IMO Update

What happened in Imo state was a shock to many, a police man chassed an "unknown Gunmen" in Imo state, after exchanging gunfire with the Unknown men the police man succeeded in k.lling the “unknown Gunmen”.

What surprises everyone was that it was later discovered that this "Unknown gunmen" k*lled by this Police man is Nigerian DSS. Imo state is in shock, Nigeria media instead of reporting accurately they change it that "Police mistakenly killed Nigeria DSS". What kind of country is this? It is now clear that most of this k*llings in Imo is Nigeria DSS. The Unknown gunmen are Nigerian DSS. This is very bad, Nigeria has turned to something else, nobody is safe here anymore.

the culture and history of these people who dominate the eastern part of Nigeria can be discovered.

lgbo-Ukwu Museum
The Igbo-Ukwu museum is in Ngo village, Igbo-Ukwu, Amabara state. The town, Igbo-Ukwu is of great historical and cultural significance in Igbo land as it is notable for bronze artifacts from a very sophisticated bronze metal-working culture centuries before other known bronzes of the region. It is in recognition of this that the Federal Government in Nigeria granted approval for the hosting of an annual National New Yam Festival in Igbo- Ukwu to promote the culture and tradition of Ndigbo and new yam festival.

The festival takes place at National Yam House built by the Federal Government in Igbo- Ukwu since 2005. The Igbo-Ukwu bronze treasures were accidentally discovered by a worker who was hired to dig a cistern by Mr. Isaiah Anozie during dry season in 1939 . Subsequent archaeological excavations of the area led by Professor Thurstan Shaw led to the discovery of other sites , making a total of three sites: Igbo Isaiah (a shrine), Igbo Richard (a burial chamber), and Igbo Jonah (a cache).

Among the recovered object include a ritual Pottery Vessel, Scabbard, Pendant with rams head, Human face with scarification, Bronze bowl and a pear – shaped bowl. While some of these artefact have been exported and some lost, the Museum plays a significant role in preserve the remaining Igbo ukwu pieces, indigenous productions, which are vital in discerning the ancient history of not only Igbos, but of the human existence within ancient Africa. lgbo-Ukwu Museum has remained an attraction to tourists mostly because of its bronze artifacts. It is great place to visit as the bronze pieces are a sight to behold.

I have reasons to want Nigeria’s breakup: Okorocha

Former governor of Imo, Rochas Okorocha, says though he has reasons to support the breakup of the country, Nigerians should pray and work for a united Nigeria.

“I have enough reason to want the country to break down but this is a time to work for the peace and unity of our dear country,” Mr Okorocha said in an event to mark his 59th birthday on Sunday night.

“I am dedicating this birthday to a united Nigeria, I beg you to pray and support Buhari’s administration to tackle insecurity and restore peace in Nigeria. I plead with the clergymen to use the pulpit to preach for the unity of Nigeria,” he added.

Lamenting increased violence and bloodshed across the country, Mr Okorocha, a serving senator said, “My heart bleeds with the killing of countless Nigerians; the bloodbath in the country is worrisome but it is not over with Nigeria yet as there are better days ahead.”

Insecurity has taken a frightening trajectory in Nigeria with unknown gunmen killing and burning down public properties in the South-East, while bandits, kidnappers, and Boko Haram terrorists ravage the entire northern part of the country.

Aside from kidnapping hundreds of students in Katsina, Kagara Niger State, Kaduna, Kebbi and Zamfara State, bandits in July bombed a Nigerian Airforce jet and also raided the Kaduna branch of the Nigerian Defence Academy in August, killing two.

Spokespersons for the president Muhammadu Buhari regime and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) party, however, continue to dismiss reports on insecurity as the work of the opposition trying to rubbish the achievements of Mr Buhari.

The renewed violence in Anambra does not warrant the declaration of an emergency rule - Anambra state government

There has been a high level of violence in All Progressives Congress states –Imo and Ebonyi – in the last few months yet emergency rule was not considered by the Federal Government.

Since the renewed violence in Anambra State which we believe is politically motivated, not more than 15 persons have been killed. How many persons have died in Borno, Niger, Kaduna, Yobe, Zamfara, even Imo, which is APC-controlled, Ebonyi, which is APC-controlled?

Has anybody threatened emergency rule in any of these states?

For the past seven years, Anambra has remained the safest state, most stable in Nigeria.

Interpreting an emergency rule and its effects, Ananaba said, “What the State of Emergency does is to put aside the governor, the state assembly, and all the institutions. It is an extraordinary measure. Anambra has not reached that point.

Section 305 has made it clear that at the actual breakdown of law and order, there is no actual breakdown of law and order in Anambra State – schools are in session, banks are working, markets and all. There is violence but it has not gotten to the declaration of a State of Emergency. - Anambra State Government.
