Abia State Governor Alex Otti has reportedly approved the immediate disbursement of ₦1 million each to Abia indigenes who recently returned from South Africa following the wave of xenophobic attacks.

Nigeria evacuated 1,490 citizens from South Africa between June and July, with several state governments stepping in to support their indigenes as they rebuild their lives.

Abia government’s intervention would provide immediate financial support for the returnees as they begin the process of settling back home.

Davido Commends Peter Obi for Advocating Peaceful and Credible Osun Election

Nigerian music star Davido has expressed appreciation to NDC presidential candidate Peter Obi for his call for a peaceful, transparent and credible governorship election in Osun State.

In a post shared on X, Obi urged political stakeholders, security agencies, INEC and voters to prioritize peace, neutrality and transparency throughout the electoral process. He also appealed to the people of Osun to reject violence and ensure that their votes genuinely reflect their choice.

Obi stated that the people of Osun should be allowed to vote freely and safely, without intimidation, while their votes are transparently counted, protected and announced in accordance with the will of the electorate.

He further urged Osun to demonstrate that political competition does not have to result in violence, emphasizing that disagreements can exist without hatred and that political power should change hands through ballots rather than bloodshed.

Davido’s commendation highlights the importance of public figures using their influence to promote peaceful democratic participation and credible elections.

ALARM RAISED: Osun State Governor and Accord governorship candidate, Ademola Adeleke, has called on President Bola Tinubu to direct security agencies to protect the integrity of the ongoing election collation process.

Adeleke raised concern over alleged attempts by “desperate and rejected politicians” to disrupt collation centres across the state.

He urged the President to ensure that voters’ ballots are protected and properly reflected in the final result.

“The people of Osun State have spoken with one voice, and their voices must be heard. Their votes must be protected, and their mandate must be respected.”

Adeleke specifically called on the Police, DSS, Nigerian Army and NSCDC to ensure that collation proceeds without interference.

He also urged the Federal Government to support INEC in completing the process and announcing what he described as a credible result.

Peter Obi Once Tried to Bring P-Square Back Together — But It Didn’t Work 💔

Back in August 2024, former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi stepped in to try and resolve the growing dispute between the P-Square brothers.

Peter Obi reportedly met Peter Okoye (Mr P), Paul Okoye (Rudeboy), and Jude Okoye separately, hoping his words, experience, and maturity could help the brothers put their differences aside and find common ground.

At the time, the meetings gave many P-Square fans a renewed sense of hope. Many believed that if anyone could help the brothers listen to each other and rebuild their relationship, Peter Obi might be that person.

Unfortunately, despite the effort, the disagreements continued and eventually became even more intense, with different sides coming forward to share their own versions of what happened behind the scenes.

The P-Square situation is a powerful reminder that family conflicts can be much deeper than what the public sees. Sometimes, even when respected people step in to mediate, reconciliation can only happen when everyone involved is genuinely ready to forgive, understand each other and let go of the past.

P-Square may remain one of Africa’s most legendary music groups, but their story also shows how complicated things can become when family, business, fame and money are all connected.

And the biggest question fans are still asking is: Will Peter and Paul ever put everything behind them and become brothers again? 💔

: BREAKING!!! President Bola Tinubu Quickly Cancels Trip To The United States Of America, After Legal And Diplomatic Advice And Intelligence Report Of Possible Arrest At The Airport, Detention And Criminal Charges, Allegedly; Delegates NSA, Nuhu Ribadu, Others, For The International Engagement In Washington DC

Reports reaching "Atiku Is For The People" global movement on Thursday morning, indicate that there is growing speculation in Abuja, that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu may have refused to travel to the United States of America, USA, over fears of possible arrest, detention and criminal charges, linked to lingering drug-related allegations in the USA against him; opting instead, to send a high-level Nigerian Delegation, led by the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, to Washington DC.

Recall, that on Wednesday, President Tinubu dispatched a high profile Delegation to the USA. The members of the Nigerian Delegation include: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu; Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa; Minister of Finance, Taiwo Oyedele; Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo; Attorney-General of the Federation, AGF, Lateef Fagbemi; Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sola Enikanolaiye; and Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede.

Nigeria's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Jimoh Ibrahim, was also part of the Nigerian Delegation.

As at August 2026, President Tinubu has not visited the United States since President Donald Trump returned to power in January 2024. The Presidency has repeatedly denied reports of a planned trip, and Nigeria’s Ambassador to the USA, Kayode Are, said in mid-2026, that he is “optimistic that President Bola Tinubu could undertake an official visit to Washington, before the end of his tenure”, confirming that no such visit has taken place yet.

The Nigerian Delegation to Washington DC, is attending the United States-Nigeria Joint Working Group meeting, with further engagements scheduled to focus on counter-terrorism measures, progress and the next steps between both countries.

A bilateral Defence meeting is also set for Thursday.

The Working Group was formed in response to the re-designation of Nigeria as a ‘Country of Particular Concern’, CPC, by United States President.

A Senior Government source who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that the decision of President Tinubu to stay back, was taken “after legal and diplomatic advice regarding ongoing matters in US Courts tied to old drug-related cases”.

“The President did not want to create any diplomatic incident. That is why NSA Ribadu is leading with a full Cabinet Team”, the source said.

On the drugs issue specifically, President Trump has made direct public statements linking Nigeria to narcotics and criminal concerns.

In statements in 2025, President Trump warned that the USA could take action, if Nigeria fails to address what he described as criminal and terrorist activities, including drug-related crimes, and threatened to cut aid and assistance. President Trump’s administration has kept pressure on Nigeria over security, religious violence and transnational crime.

Burkina Faso plans to use nuclear power for electricity after signing a deal with Russia’s Rosatom to develop peaceful nuclear energy in the country.

The agreement is aimed at using nuclear technology for electricity and other areas like healthcare and industry.

And nuclear power does not automatically mean nuclear weapons.

Nuclear power plants use controlled nuclear reactions to produce electricity, while nuclear weapons are designed for a completely different purpose.

For Burkina Faso, the bigger goal is finding a more reliable way to produce electricity and support homes, hospitals and businesses.

BREAKING NEWS
The State House of Assembly has passed the Property and Tenancy Bill, which will establish a new Property and Tenancy Regulatory Authority to sanitize the real estate agent business in the state.

Key points:

• Agency fees are now capped at 5% of total rent no more agents charging 10%, 15%, even
20%

• Every agent operating in Abia must register with the new Authority

• The law becomes effective once Governor Alex Otti signs it.

This could be a big relief for tenants tired of exploitative agent charges.

A government that hears the cry of his people. Let other states follow suit.

🚨 INTERNATIONAL | Why Hasn’t Putin Been Arrested Despite the ICC Warrant?

More than three years after the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin, he remains free and continues to travel internationally.

The ICC issued the warrant in March 2023, accusing Putin of alleged responsibility for the unlawful deportation and transfer of Ukrainian children. But the court has no police force of its own and relies on member states to enforce its warrants.

So why hasn’t anyone “gone to pick him up”?

🇷🇺 1. Putin is the leader of a nuclear power
Any attempt to physically arrest a sitting Russian president would carry enormous risks. Russia possesses one of the world’s largest nuclear arsenals and maintains powerful military and political alliances. Putin also generally limits his travel to countries where he is unlikely to face arrest.

🇻🇪 2. The Maduro comparison is different
The United States has pursued a much more direct strategy against Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, including sanctions and a $50 million U.S. reward announced in 2025 for information leading to his arrest or conviction. Venezuela is geographically close to the United States, but that does not mean Maduro’s arrest would be straightforward or lawful without Venezuelan cooperation.

🇺🇦 3. Zelensky continues to demand accountability
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and other Ukrainian officials continue to call for Putin and other Russian officials to face justice over alleged crimes committed during Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

⚖️ The key point: An international arrest warrant is not the same thing as an arrest order that can be physically enforced worldwide. The ICC depends on states to make arrests, while geopolitical realities, national sovereignty, military alliances and nuclear deterrence make the arrest of a sitting Russian president extraordinarily difficult.

The warrant remains active but enforcing it is ultimately a question of political will, jurisdiction and power on the ground.
