19 kill£d in fresh attack on Plateau communities

No fewer than 15 persons have been kill£d in renewed viol£nce by gunmen in Bokkos and Mangu local government areas of Plateau State.

The recent viol£nce happened on Thursday night at Manja community of Chakfem kingdom in Mangu, and Tangur community in Bokkos.

It was gathered that the attackers stormed the communities at different times.

While Tangur attack was around 9pm when people were already retiring to bed, that of Chakfem was much earlier.

The attackers, it was learnt, operated for a while during the attacks before disappearing.

Sources from Mangu and Bokkos confirmed to our correspondent that six people were kill£d in Mangu, while 13 people di£d in Bokkos.

According to one of the sources, the gunmen came to their community and started shooting sporadically, while breaking into peoples homes.

Mathias Ibrahim, Director of Culture Mwaghavul Development Association and Director, IDP (Pilot Science) Camp in Mangu, confirmed the death toll of the Mangu attack to our correspondent, saying there is currently tension in the community.

Man Sentenced to 76 Years in Lagos for Internet Fra¥d, Others

Olukeye Adedayo Olalekan has been sentenced to 76 years in prison by the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, for multiple cybercrimes, including child p+rn, s+xtortion, and internet fra¥d.

Justice Alexander Owoeye delivered the judgment on Thursday, June 19, 2025, after finding Adedayo guilty on all 18 counts brought against him by the Lagos Zonal Directorate 2 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The charges stemmed from a series of offences committed online, including the creation of an Instagram group titled Expose Janjua Robin N¥des, where he shared child p+rn material under various aliases such as hrm87, charlotte708, and harlilott_716.

The EFCC accused Adedayo of fra¥dulent impersonation, cyberstalking, and obtaining money through false pretences, totalling N721,500. He pleaded not guilty when first arraigned in 2024, leading to a full trial that began on June 5, 2024.

The prosecution, led by counsel Bilikisu Buhari, called two witnesses—Wahid Hamidi, a police sergeant with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and EFCC operative Saidu Yakubu—who both testified against the defendant. The court also admitted several digital and forensic evidence presented by the prosecution.

In his ruling, Justice Owoeye convicted Adedayo on all counts. He was sentenced to a total of 76 years: two years each for the charges relating to child p+rn and cyb£rstalking; four years each for money laundering-related offences; and seven years each for fra¥dilently obtaining property. The court ruled that all the sentences would run concurrently.

The case marked a significant conviction involving cross-border cooperation and reinforced the EFCC’s commitment to tackling cybercrime and online exploitation.

In continuation of stakeholders engagement by the leadership of NANS to bring an end to the ASUU strike impasse, today the NANS Revolutionary President Comr. Usman Umar Barambu Gcns in company of the National Secretary Comr. Usman Baba Kankia meet with the Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila ahead of the speaker meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR scheduled later today. The NANS President thanks the speaker for his intervention into the collective quest of resolving the strike and as well retreats the position of Nigerian students and parents which is to see the strike called up without further delay.

The Rt. Hon. Speaker noted the observations and stand of Nigerian students as regards the strike and promised to engage the President in a way and manner that will guarantee an outcome that will best serve the interest of both the students and their striking lecturers.

The resolution of the NANS new leadership is to continue the agitation for the reopening of our Nations Universities consistently and without compromise. In furtherance of this objective, we will always strive to see it become a leading topic of discussion across all government engagements and media platforms until the strike issue is resolved and Nigerian students return back to class.

NANS calls on Nigerian students to remain vigilant and remain hopeful that this strike will be resolved in no distant future.
