The Secret My Husband Kept — Episode 21: In the Darkness
The lights suddenly went off.
“What happened?” I screamed.
I heard someone move quickly across the room.
Then I heard a loud crash.
“Frank!”
Nobody answered.
I reached for my phone and turned on the flashlight.
My brother was standing near the door.
The strange woman was trembling in the corner.
But Frank was gone.
“Where is my husband?” I shouted.
My brother looked toward the hallway.
“He was standing right there.”
I rushed toward the door.
Then my phone vibrated.
Another message.
This time, it came from the same unknown number.
“He is not the person you should be afraid of.”
My heart began racing.
I typed:
“Who are you?”
The reply came immediately.
“Someone who knows what happened the night of the accident.”
I stared at the screen.
Then another message appeared:
“Check Frank's old phone.”
I turned to my brother.
“Where is Frank's old phone?”
He looked confused.
“I don't know.”
Suddenly, the strange woman spoke.
“I know where it is.”
She walked toward an old cabinet and pulled out a small box.
Inside was Frank's old phone.
My hands trembled as I picked it up.
The phone was locked.
“Do you know the password?” I asked my brother.
He shook his head.
Then the strange woman whispered:
“Try Grace's birthday.”
I entered the date.
The phone unlocked.
There were hundreds of old messages.
I scrolled through them quickly.
Then I saw one conversation that made my heart stop.
The sender's name was saved as:
“G.”
The last message said:
“Frank, she knows too much. We have to stop her before she discovers the account.”
I looked at my brother.
“Who is G?”
Before he could answer, we heard footsteps outside.
Someone was coming toward the house.
Slowly.
Step… step… step…
The strange woman covered her mouth.
My brother whispered:
“Turn off the flashlight.”
We stood in complete darkness.
The footsteps stopped outside the door.
Then someone knocked.
Three times.
Knock.
Knock.
Knock.
Nobody moved.
Then a woman's voice came through the door.
A voice I knew very well.
“Open the door. It's Grace.”
My heart nearly stopped.
I looked at my brother.
He whispered:
“That's impossible.”
The woman outside knocked again.
Then she said:
“Please… I'm not Grace.”
I froze.
To be continued…
💬 Who do you think is standing outside the door? And why did she say she isn't Grace?
