BROTHERS CLASH, DRAW DAGGERS OVER COMMUNAL LAND, EDO POLICE STRENGTHEN SECURITY IN THE AREA

For three days running Sabongida- ora and Uhonmora communities in Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State have been at daggers draw over a piece of land between the communities.
Reports say commercial and other activities have been shut down in the two communities in the wake of the clash that has reportedly claimed the lives of no fewer than three persons.
The clash was said to have started when some persons from Uhonmora went to measure a piece of land between the boundary of the two communities and got attacked in the process by some persons from the other community.
SPARKNEWSNAIJA reportedly gathered that some persons were injured during the attack while their vehicles and motorcycles we're also damaged, which necessitated youths from Uhonmora to carry out a reprisal attack on the other community the following day.
As at Tuesday evening, SPARKNEWSNAIJA's checks reveal that three persons have been confirmed dead in the communal clash between the two Owan West communities.
As a result of the clash, youths from both communities have blocked the busy Ifon – Iruekpen Federal Road for the past three days and thus preventing motorists from going through the communities.
The member representing Owan Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, has called on the warring factions to embrace peace.
Ihonvbere who stated this in a statement, said, “i am unhappy over this ugly incident that has created unrest, tension and closure of business activities in Owan West.
“This is coming at a time when we should be joining hands to mobilise resources to empower our women and youths.
“It is so sad to see persons of the same family turn on one another. It is also a reflection of intolerance, unemployment and lack of investment in Owan West.
“I sympathise with the families of the victims, including those injured in the fracas. I call traditional, religious, community and political leaders to urgently wade into the matter with a view to restoring lasting peace and harmony.” he stated.
Meanwhile Edo State Police Command has dispatched a team of the Mobile Police Force has been deployed to the troubled area to join force with the ones on ground to restore peace.
The spokesman of the command, SP Bello Kontongs, who made this yesterday saying “the situation in the area as at today, is a lot calmer”

OBA OF BENIN SUSPENDS PALACE CHIEF INDEFINITELY.

The Benin Monarch, His Royal Majesty, Omo N'oba N'edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare 11, has suspended chief Utetenegiabi Omo-Osagie, the Obadolagbonyi N'Iweguae of Benin for gross violation of customary Norms and acts that are inimical to order. In a statement issued by Donald Odemwingie, the suspension of chief Utetenegiabi Omo-Osagie is sequel to his leading a group of traditionalists to an unauthorized invocation of courses in a location in BENIN city,over the weekend.
