Statement has nothing to do with what happened in Rivers State, Old History gives — Shettima

The Deputy President's Office expressed concerns over how some media outlets have overturned Senator Kashim Shettima's speech during his book launch "OPL 245: The Inside Story of the $1.3 Billion Oil Block" in Abuja, on Thursday.

Stanley Nkwocha's press advisor's statement says Shettima's speech is a reflection of the past history of problems he faced during Borno Governor as a result of Boko Haram crisis, not just a commentary on what is happening in Rivers State. It's a somali poem

Furthermore, the statement said that Shettima used historical examples to compliment the author, Mohammed Bello Adoke (SAN), for his perseverance while he was Minister of Justice.

The office also said that President Bola Tinubu did not impeach Governor Siminalayi Fubara from his position, but he was suspended on the law to restore law and order in Rivers State. The action was taken according to Section 305 of the constitution, with the approval of the National Assembly.

Lastly, the announcement shows that any attempt to overthrow Shettima's words as they see the current government or any sign of conflict between senior government officials, is fake news and attempt to bring in peace. The office has confirmed that Shettima and Tinubu are working together to protect democracy and law in Nigeria. A S MAI NASARA Yola

NSUBEB CHAIRMAN DISPLEASED WITH TEACHING METHOD OF SOME PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHERS IN NASARAWA STATE

Executive Chairman, Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board, NSUBEB Dr Kassim Muh'd Kassim has express disappointment with the teaching method of most of the primary school teachers across the State.

Dr Kassim was completely disappointed Thursday July 10th 2025 when he paid an unscheduled visit to Pilot Science Primary School, Yelwa, Ekye Development Area, Doma Local Government.

The NSUBEB chairman who observed the teaching in one of the classes shockingly discovered through the lesson plan of the teacher that the last time she teaches the pupils was May 23rd and the topic was Basic Science and today she was teaching 'Addition' and the chairman questioned the correlation of the two topic and what the teacher wants to achieve.

During the class, the teacher summed up addition, division and multiplication at the same time while teaching the pupils which the chairman condemned and blame the situation to lack of proper lesson plan "I'm a well trained teacher and I know what lesson plan and lesson note mean to pupils, and without these things properly prepared especially to small children, all we are doing is not teaching and knowledge has not been impacted, this is elementary stage and we must be detailed.

"I'm a mathematics trained teacher, you can't teach addition, division and multiplication at the same time to small children in a single lesson class and expect them to understand, they are different topics on their own and should be teached separately through a prepared lesson plan using demonstration of sticks to make the pupils understand better, that is the best way to teach and impact knowledge to small children at primary school stage"

Dr Kassim said that he is not distracted by those who feels he is over burdening the teachers, but he will make sure that his leadership compelled primary school teachers to do the right thing to impact knowledge to the pupils. "As far as I'm concerned,.teaching small children without a lesson plan and lesson note is a waste of time, they won't understand, copy and paste won't work at this stage on small children"

"Teachers should not teach on the basis of teaching to get salary, but on the basis of impacting knowledge to the little children, this is the foundation level for crying out loud, we are laying a foundation for this children and anything worth doing should be done well, knowledge must be seem to be impacted through the right method, we must do justice to our primary school pupils"

"How can you teach small children Basic science and the next class, you are teaching addition, there is no connection instead you are confusing the pupils" Dr Kassim lamented

Dr Kassim explained further that he properly understand the process and method of teaching at every stage of education, having teach in primary, secondary and higher institution.
