Welcome to the Month of Rest
Ladies and gentlemen, brothers and sisters,
I greet you all in peace and joy. Welcome to the month of Rest — a time to breathe, to reflect, and to recharge.
You see, even God rested on the seventh day after all His work (Genesis 2:2). If the Creator Himself saw the need to rest, who are we not to do the same?
This is not just about sleeping or doing nothing. This is about trusting God, releasing your worries, and letting peace guide your steps.
It is written in Matthew 11:28, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
This month, let go of the load that’s not your own.
Let go of stress that’s eating your joy.
Let go of the fear that’s keeping you up at night.
And receive rest — rest in your body, rest in your mind, rest in your soul.
To the poor, I say:
God sees you.
He hasn’t forgotten you.
He doesn’t judge you by what’s in your hand but what’s in your heart.
“Even the dry bone can rise again,” says the African proverb.
Don’t look down on yourself — God can lift you from the dust to sit with kings (Psalm 113:7–8).
To the broken, I say:
You may feel shattered, but you are not useless.
“The pot that broke still boiled water.”
Your story is not over yet. God heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds (Psalm 147:3).
To the weary, I say:
Don’t quit.
Don’t lose hope.
Rest is not defeat.
Rest is a weapon.
It is written in Isaiah 30:15, “In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength.”
So take this month as a gift.
Not a time to give up, but a time to gather strength.
Because those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength (Isaiah 40:31).
Let this African proverb guide us:
“You can’t run all day without stopping; even the lion lies down to rest.”
So breathe.
Be still.
And know that God is God (Psalm 46:10).
Welcome to your Month of Rest.
Rest to rise.
Rest to recover.
Rest to receive.
God bless you all.
