Let’s be honest, email marketing can leave you in the dark at times.
You compose the email. You press the send button. And after that, you hopefully wait for the results.
This is the reality check:
It’s going to be practically impossible to know what has worked out and what has not if your metrics are a mystery to you.
So let us simplify things. No jargon, just the opposite. Consider the following key metrics for every small business which are significant.
Open Rate: 20–25% is considered healthy

It gauges the effectiveness of your subject line. If people aren’t opening your emails, they are ignoring your messages completely.
If it’s below 15%, craft subject lines that provide a clear, concise, and simple peek that builds interest.
Above 30%? You are slaying it. Your audience is truly engaged. Just continue to provide value.

Click Through Rate CTR is 2–5%
So they opened it great. Now what’s next?
This is the matter of interest. Are they clicking the links, the buttons, the offer?
Low CTR usually means your message isn’t clear or your call-to-action isn’t strong enough.
Focus on the clarity of your next steps; make them simple.

Conversion Rate: 1–3% is solid
This is the number that tells you if your emails are doing their real job of persuading recipients to act.

I've heard the phrase "We've tried ads before... they didn't work" countless times. And truthfully? It can feel like throwing money into thin air when you're running advertisements, and all you see are clicks with no result. The problem is that advertisements aren't ineffective. The reason for this is that most advertising campaigns lack a proper plan.
After being burned by advertisements, one of our clients approached us with apprehension about trying again. After three months? They outperformed their previous campaign in terms of cost per click and had more than 500 qualified leads.
What then changed?
First, we were very clear about who their target audience was, no vague targeting, just the right people.
Our advertising copy sounded relatable, straightforward, human, and simple to implement.
