So it turns out that Peculiar, the teenage girl who went viral some months ago for allegedly poisoning her ex boyfriend and his friends to death with peppersoup, is innocent afterall.
That in fact, the boys died of carbon monoxide poisoning from generator fumes and not peppersoup at all.
The story went viral after her ex's best friend designed the flier and unilaterally placed a 500k bounty on her head and posted it. Perculiar's friend saw it and alerted her. They were on their way to make a police report when the best friend blocked her and started shouting that she is a murderer and refused to let her go. Bloodthirsty Nigerians quickly mobilised petrol, tires and lighters to burn her to death. Her saving grace was someone had alerted her father who came along with policemen or some other form of intervention. They all went to the police station after that.
While all this was going on, the post from the best friend had taken a life of its own on social media. For months, while the police concluded their investigations which led to the truth...that those boys died from carbon monoxide poisoning from a generator and that Perculiar was nowhere near their house that day.
I'm happy for Peculiar. Happy and sad at the same time. Happy because, let's face it, the NPF is not exactly thorough in most cases. To see an end to this nightmare of an ordeal is rare and I'm happy that it has happened for her. Sad because she may never be able to completely heal. She is so young. Too young to carry such deep scars for the rest of her life.
On a personal note, I am one woman who always assumes the woman is innocent until irrefutably proven guilty. Imagine that fellow just woke up and designed a poster offering 500,000 bounty on that girl's head. Anything could have happened to her. She could have died. For what??? A blatant lie. When that girl who was killed in Uyo went viral, people immediately assumed she went for hook ups but she actually went for a job interview. The girl who was recently beheaded? Same. The woman who was burnt to death by her husband? Same. Hakimi's wife? Pep Guardiola's wife? The odds that the woman is being lied against, blackmailed, framed, or wrongly/unfairly accused are higher than you think. Astronomically high!!
If I hear that a woman unalived a man, my first question will be 'what did he do to her?'. I have no apologies.
