GANDUJE RESIGNS AS APC NATIONAL
CHAIRMAN

In a major shake-up within Nigeria’s ruling party, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has resigned from his position as National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The development, confirmed by party insiders and reported by TVC News on Thursday, marks the end of Ganduje’s nearly two-year tenure as the party's helmsman.

Although official reasons cited point to health concerns, multiple sources within the APC suggest the resignation came amidst mounting political pressure. Party stakeholders from the North-Central region have in recent months intensified calls for a leadership rotation, arguing that the chairmanship should return to their zone following Ganduje’s controversial appointment in 2023.

Ganduje, a former two-term Governor of Kano State, assumed the role of APC National Chairman in August 2023 after the ouster of Senator Abdullahi Adamu. His leadership, however, has been dogged by internal wrangling, allegations of mismanagement, and a series of court cases, including a recent order by a Kano High Court restraining him from acting as chairman.

According to sources, Ganduje submitted his resignation to the APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, who is now expected to assume the role of Acting National Chairman pending the party’s national convention scheduled for December.

The APC’s National Working Committee is expected to convene an emergency meeting in the coming days to formally ratify the resignation and chart a path forward. Meanwhile, discussions are already underway within party ranks over who should replace Ganduje permanently, with strong indications that the next chairman may emerge from the North-Central region.

The resignation comes at a critical time for the APC, as it begins internal realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections. Party loyalists and observers alike are watching closely to see how the leadership transition will shape the APC's future direction.

THE HAUSA/ FULANI WHO ARE THE BACKBONE OF AMAC POLITICS WERE LEFT BEHIND FOR LONG WHAT HAPPENED ?

The Hausa/ Fulani were the backbone of the FCT politics, in terms of population and strategy to win an election, but is a pity they where left behind. What happened and why ?

In the ongoing conversation about equitable political zoning and representation across AMAC it is imperative tha Hausa's where not given due consideration in the zoning arrangement and political formula of AMAC,

Despite their population, they always end up with the positions of vice chairman, or council secretary but not a council chairman, why and what happened ?

Historically, Abuja Municipal Area Council has produced so many council chairman from beginning of Democracy but no single Hausa/Fulani man as a council chairman, Hausa/Fulani had never been privileged to rule as chairman, except other position, but this term Hausawa should unite and know what they doing.

Despite the Hausa Fulani size, strategic importance, and vibrant political participation, they always played, but they remains marginalized in this rotation of leadership at the Council Chairman level. For the sake of fairness, inclusivity, and justice, other tribes should pls allow them to rule too. They should be rightly considered in the arrangement.

Equitable representation strengthens democracy. As we move forward, let us ensure that all Hausa Fulani in AMAC and the FCT should be recognized and be given the opportunity to contribute to the leadership and development of our dear AMAC.

Haske, , the leading Chairmanship aspirant in Abuja Municipal Area Council , on Wednesday in Abuja, said that the significance of democracy day lay in its call to unity, transparency and credibility in choosing who will lead Amac to be come a home for all.

Abuja teacher's strike: NLC to issue 7-day ultimatum to FCTA

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) will issue a seven-day ultimatum to the Federal Capital Territory Authority (FCTA) to settle the impasse and restore normalcy in the education sector and the area councils or face a shutdown.

Abdulsalam Haruna, coordinator at FCT LEA Teachers Forum, disclosed this to Abuja24news.com in Abuja " he explained that Nyesom Wike, minister of the Federal Capital Territory, is yet to respond to the resolutions of ALGON, NUT, and NULGE submitted to his office on May 19, 2025. "

“The NLC FCT council held its state executive council ( SEC) meeting on Thursday, May 29, and the issue of the over two-month strike action and total abandonment of primary education in FCT was a topical discussion at the meeting.

“It was resolved, amongst other issues, that the NLC should give the FCTA a seven-day ultimatum to settle the impasse and restore normalcy in the education sector and the area councils or the whole of FCT will be shut down,” he explained.

Consequently, Haruna said that all members of NUT, NULGE and other affiliate unions in FCT are to get ready for further action if the needful is not done by the FCT administration before the expiration of the seven-day ultimatum.

The teachers in Abuja have proven that they cannot be held captive by the area council chairmen, who have suddenly become insensitive to the plight of the teachers.

Their repeated strikes, sometimes lasting for weeks, are not just demands for better pay but a desperate attempt by the teachers to “escape” the unbearable conditions

WHAT COULD BE THE NEEDFUL

How the FCTA (and area councils) maintain the ‘prison’ (and inadvertently push for “escape”):

The FCTA, through the Area Councils, unwittingly employs strategies that, rather than keeping teachers docile, actually highlight their “imprisonment” and provoke their “escape”

“The back-and-forth blame game between the area councils and the FCTA about who is responsible for paying teachers creates a sense of helplessness and a lack of clear authority. This “no landlord” situation reinforces the feeling of being trapped in a system where no one takes accountability.”

The most evident aspect of this “prison” is the persistent non-payment of salaries, minimum wage arrears, and other entitlements. Teachers are denied their basic livelihood, making it impossible to meet their needs and creating constant financial anxiety.

Besides, is the routinely broken agreements with the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) by the area council chairmen, which is creating a cycle of distrust and frustration.

Beyond salaries, the physical “prison” of inadequate classrooms, lack of teaching materials, and a generally unconducive learning environment further degrades the teachers’ working conditions.

The constant need to protest and beg for what is rightfully theirs strips teachers of their professional dignity, forcing them into a state of perpetual struggles.

Saeed Alhassan Haske, is the only young philanthropist I never see face to face but, I always viewed writes ups from Facebook writers admiring him and praising him on how he touched the lives of others secretly without letting people know, he won the hearts of the FCT youth and elders to contest for the position of AMAC Chairmanship in 2016.

The entire youth of the FCT are yearning for his aspiration to continue the good work he has been doing, he has everything that takes to lead Amac to promise land.

The youth summons courage and admiration to write and ginger him to do more, the feedback he can only receive from us is that, FCT youth are really clamouring for his aspiration. Not too young to rule. The sky will be the starting point.
