*SUPREME COURT VICTORY: EDO CENTRAL STANDS STILL FOR GOV OKPEBHOLO*

Edo State Governor, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo at the weekend, received a heroic welcome at his ancestral community in Udomi, Esan Central Local Governments Area of Edo State following the Supreme Court ruling affirming him as the duly elected Governor of Edo State.

The Governor, who spoke to party faithfuls, supporters, youths, market women, socio-cultural groups, Udomi sons and daughters at Udomi Primary School, appreciated the people and Edo State in general for their support and prayers.

According to him, "I am happy that we have come this far today. It is good news that the battle is over as God has given us victory all around, and now it is time to work for Edo people.

"We thank you all for standing by us throughout the period of the election and during all the Court cases which ended at the Supreme Court as all the judges reaffirmed the mandate that you have given to us.

"We thank God for the victory at the election, election petition tribunal, Appeal Court, and finally Supreme Court. Now that all disputes have been laid to rest, it is time to work.

"Now, we will be more focused on bringing development to our people. We are determined to make life better for Edo people, and we will ensure transparency and accountability in governance."

Governor Okpebholo said it is a tough time for Edo people but added that "together, the challenges will be surmounted."

The Governor was accompanied to his home town by the Secretary to the Edo State Government, Barrister Umar Musa Ikhilor; State Acting Deputy Chairman, Sylvester Aigboboh; Commissioner for Finance, Emmanuel Okoebo; APC Edo Central Senatorial Leader, Gen. Cecil Esekhaigbe; top government functionaries, party supporters, amongst others.

SUPREME COURT VICTORY: OVIA NORTH EAST COUNCIL CHAIRMAN HAILS GOV. OKPEBHOLO’S SUPREME COURT TRIUMPH

The Executive Chairman of Ovia North East Local Government Area, Hon. Omoruyi Igbinake, has joined well-meaning Nigerians and party stakeholders in congratulating the Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, on his resounding victory at the Supreme Court.

The Apex Court, in a unanimous judgment, dismissed the appeal filed by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Asue Ighodalo, thereby affirming Senator Okpebholo as the duly elected Governor of Edo State.

Reacting to the judgment, Hon. Igbinake described the ruling as a landmark victory for democracy and a clear validation of the collective mandate freely given by the people of Edo State at the September 21, 2024, governorship election.

"This victory is a reflection of the people’s will," he stated. "The Supreme Court has only confirmed what the people of Edo already knew — that they overwhelmingly voted for Senator Monday Okpebholo to lead them into a new era of hope and transformation."

The Council Chairman further emphasized that with the legal battle now laid to rest, the focus must return to governance and accelerated development.

"With this legal hurdle out of the way, Governor Okpebholo can now focus fully on delivering the Renewed Hope Agenda," he said. "There are high expectations across the state, and I am confident that under his leadership, Edo will witness rapid infrastructural growth, social reforms, and people-centered policies."

He also applauded the judiciary for upholding justice, fairness, and the rule of law, noting that the judgment has further strengthened public confidence in Nigeria’s democratic institutions.

Hon. Igbinake used the opportunity to call on political opponents and other stakeholders to put aside their differences and work collaboratively with the Governor for the collective good of the state.

"The time for politics is over. Now is the time for progress. We must all rally behind the Governor to move Edo forward. When he succeeds, the people of Edo State succeed. This is a shared mandate, and unity is the key to achieving greater heights," he added.

The Council Chairman concluded by urging citizens to remain hopeful and steadfast in their support for the Okpebholo administration, assuring that brighter days lie ahead for Edo State under the current leadership.
