The attention of the IOS Support group has been drawn to the recent judgement of the Local Council Election tribunal and the statements of the chairman and his spokespersons speaking gloriously and eulogising the judgement.
We must say that this judgement being celebrated further underscores the sham of election we had, it emphasises the irregularities that characterised the entire process and conduct of the election and it justifies all the concerns we raised as regards the conduct and the entire process of the election which we had described as a charade, a clear departure from all reasonable electoral practices as enshrined in our constitution and the electoral act from start to finish.
The results as being brandied by the tribunal and the APC is in clear contravention to what was declared at the collation center. Ab-initio the result were written and was being dictated to the LASIEC officials by the APC LCDA collation officer Mr. Muniru from his phone, obviously pre meditated and pre planned this illegal act caused the unnecessary delay of the collation process.
The widespread manipulation of the results only shows that the APC and her candidates can only win elections via manipulation of results, intimidation of electorates and disregard for laid down processes for the conduct of elections, they can never win in a free, fair and credible contest. Need they be reminded that the results as declared at the collation center is in total contradiction to what the tribunal based it's judgement on. It must be noted that at the collation Hon. Isiaq Shonubi the Chairmanship candidate of the PDP was declared third with a paltry 202 votes, while the candidate of the Labour Party Mr. Fasasi was declared second with 837 votes and the APC was declared as having polled 22,331 and winner of the election.
While at the tribunal judgement it was declared that Mr Fasasi of labour party got 864 votes, Hon. Shonubi secured 1,144 votes as against Hon. Olasoju 22,331 votes as declared winner.
The result used by the tribunal show that ........
Hon. Shonubi was deliberately declared third initially at collation because they feared the sham of election will be challenged at the tribunal by him and for someone who was declared third with such ridiculous number of votes his case wouldn't stand a chance. The camp of Hon. Shonubi knows too much, is wiser and are busy with more relevant pursuits geared towards the liberation of the people of Isolo. It was obvious abinitio that the APC had perfected their plans from election to tribunal and no justice can be served by the highly compromised tribunal as led by retired Justice....and therefore we would never engage in such a voyage as challenging the election at the tribunal.
Let it be known that we contested the local council elections based on the strength of our abilities, popularity and acceptability by the good people of Isolo, this negates the assertion by the Olasoju and his spokespersons that we contested elections only for the sake of being on the ballot. This is being economical with the truth and a clear departure from what we ran elections for, which is to restore Isolo and liberate our people from the choke hold of the APC. The love and support we garnered is organic and it is a testament to our antecedents, our strength and the believe the people have in us as having the capacity to bring them the much desired dividend of democracy.
To the APC, Olasoju and his camp, we wish to let them know that they may have succeeded in subverting the will of the people this time but they will not continue in perpetuity as their time is almost up. Like the wise saying "you may fool some people all the time, you may fool all the people sometime but you can never fool all the people all the time" The people are wiser now and they are ready to defend their will when it's been trampled on or subverted, the next election cycle is not going to be business as usual.
We are actively involved in mobilising the people into a force that will oust the shenanigans of the APC and birth a new dawn for our democracy at all levels. Like the late reggae musician Lucky Dube said in one of his tracks "The oppressor man is running, your kingdom is falling" The time is ticking for the APC and her kingdom is falling and due to experience total collapse, as they will not be able to comprehend and withstand the kind of tsunami that will befall them in the very near future.
