HOW TO SURVIVE IN Calabar!!!
1. Have money 💰
2. Know people that have money and connection
3. Know the differences between Edibe Edibe/ Ediba. Mbukpa/Atakpa. New Airport field/Airport field. Oyo Effiom/Oyo Effam.
4. Don't fall in love 🚮
5. Just know that Flour mill and Flour mill junction are different & never ever use Google map to trek a 5 minutes distance on your phone. Body go tell you🚶
6. Avoid Marian girls. Very important 🙏
7. Marina resort/Marina road. Ntiero square & Offiong square, make sure you know the difference
8. Meanwhile if you don't know the difference between NEPA office and Post Office, Old Ikang and Asim Ikang, your name na OYO, survival go dey far far away from you
9. If you mistakenly step on someone's toe or you body check any young guy at Round about or Watt market axis, please don't tell him sorry, it's a trap. Just give him a bombastic side eye with a frowned grin and leave immediately.
10. Learn simple slangs like "Odiok onor ata ata eka'fo" odiok onor usor" scommon getad" "Adi ata ishie" and the rest. It will help you at night around Nelson Mandela, Mobil, or any bus stop.
11. If you're intending to relocate to Calabar, please endeavor to make friends with some areas boys, especially those ones with everlasting scars on their faces. Be buying them combine and ikong Abasi once in a while, e go help you o
12. Don't communicate with any keke rider, taxi driber or bus driver in Queen's English. It's all shades of wrong📌. Use broken English with a touch of usuhode tone...don't worry, you'll learn👌
13. If you find yourself at night at Anantigha, Bateba, Egerton or Idang and some group of boys are walking behind you, don't panic. Maintain your steeze but lose your composure by walking like a gangster 🚶🚶, you can even be singing Upper X's song all along.
14. If you want to stay within Calabar South, don't ever put on a smiling or happy face whenever you're outside. In fact, frown at all times to avoid "nó mí phone fó" or "kpôñg ùtóñg fó nó mí" . I used this strategy for about 3 decades that I spent in that city
15. Each direction you are going to have a sign language that the cab drivers understand perfectly eg Highway/8 miles☝ Etta Agbor/Atimbo 🙏 etc. No worry no be person go teach you
16. And not everybody that says they're based in Calabar actually stays in Calabar..Some na Awi, Akpabuyo, Okurikang.
17. Never head to Harbour village at 6pm, you go sleep for road
18. Asari Esor and Asari Ntan Inim know the difference
19. Anybody that tells you he/she is living at Tinapa axis just know that is Adiabo community
20. Esierebom and Jebs has beautiful houses, don't think it is only the ghetto
21. Lastly take number 4 & 6 seriously
Good evening fans
