10% OF MOTHERS AREN'T SURE WHO FATHERED THEIR BABIES

iReporttimes

A new survey of British moms has found about 8 percent do not know which man fathered their child.

Nearly one in 10 mothers does not know who fathered their child, according to a surprise new poll in the United Kingdom.

The question about paternal identity was included in a broader survey about lying, commissioned by Topp Morning Casino and released on Monday.

The company surveyed 1,000 British moms, finding that “7.8% admitted to lying over the biological lineage of their children.”

“We were shocked,” a rep for Topp Morning Casino said on their website of the poll results.

“This means there are potentially 2.1 million couples in the UK where the father isn’t the biological one.”

APC PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY: WILL BUHARI QUEUE BEHIND TINUBU

by TEMIDAYO AKINSUYI

With the approval granted by President Muhammadu Buhari that the national convention of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will hold in February 2022, the coast is getting clearer as the next item on the agenda after the convention is the party’s primaries. Of paramount importance to stakeholders in the party is the presidential primary where the candidate who is expected to fly the APC’s flag in the 2023 presidential election will be elected.

Speaking in an interview with Daily Independent last week, Omoba Tunde Ajibulu (mni), a former member of the APC Presidential Campaign Council said it is not out of place for President Buhari to play a huge role in the emergence of the APC presidential flagbearer, who may likely succeed him in May 2023 if the ruling party wins the election.

According to Ajibulu “He most certainly should be interested in who will take over from him and build on the legacies his government is putting in place, especially the transport system, like the rail and other infrastructural developments in the country. He should be instrumental even in the emergence of such a person”.

Many APC leaders have said they don’t understand the body language of the President now as to his choice for 2023. He has not given directives to national leadership of the party to work for the emergence of any candidate. However, one thing is certain, the Presidential candidate is coming from the Southern part of the country. The leaders also agreed that whoever the president backs stands a chance of getting the ticket as most stakeholders in the party will align with his decision.

BARBER CUTS CUSTOMER'S HAIR WITH AXE

iReporttimes.com

A barber from Kiambu is making headlines by shaving clients’ hairs using an unorthodox tool. Julius Mwangi uses an axe to shave hair at the Clippers Kings barbershop.

Speaking in an interview, Mwangi, said he started shaving with an axe three months ago. Mwangi said he took up the axe to attract new clients, admitting that it worked.

“Famous people were coming around often and I decided to look for a unique way to attract customers and make shaving fun. That is how I landed on an axe”, he said.

Mwangi admitted that the axe brings hoards of people to the establishment, but not everyone is enthusiastic about being shaved with an axe.

“When people hear of a barber shaving with an axe, they are curious to know where. Some come to see and take photos with the axe but prefer not to be shaved with it.
Some come full of fear, but I help them overcome it”, he said.

Mwangi divulged that shaving with an axe has some advantages over the shaving machine.

“The axe gives a smoother shave which is more suitable for the Jordan style. Also, when there is a blackout, I continue with my work as usual”, he said.

The barber also revealed that the axe is better suited for shaving clients with full beards.

Mwangi disclosed his plans, saying:

“I am looking for a lighter axe because this is a bit heavy. I currently charge KSh 500 (N1,848) for a shave but the price will go up with demand.”

*ANTHONY JOSHUA OUTCLASSED BY OLLEKSANDR USYK AS UKRAINIAN MAESTRO WINS WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLES*
Ukrainian triumphs on judges' cards 117-112, 116-112, 115-113
Joshua falls to defeat for second time in his career
Anthony Joshua's reign as world heavyweight champion was brought to an abrupt end by Oleksandr Usyk with the unbeaten Ukrainian putting on a scintillating display of skill to claim the IBF, WBA, WBO and IBO belts.

Usyk wobbled Joshua in the seventh round and even had the home fighter on the ropes in the last 30 seconds of the twelfth round - exhausted and in survival mode.

The three judges - from the UK, Ukraine and the USA - scored the contest 117-112, 116-112 and 115-113 all in favour of the 34-year-old who was born in Crimea.

Usyk follows in the footsteps of Evander Holyfield and David Haye, winning heavyweight world titles after being cruiserweight champions. Sure enough - and it told round after round - the challenger presented, in pure boxing terms, the greatest challenge so far in the Londoner's career.

Joshua carried the weight and power advantages - 19 pounds heavier than his Ukrainian foe at 17st 2lbs - but was unable to make that difference tell in a dance that Usyk slipped and slid and was a grade above with his vast boxing skills.

The defending champion had to press home his size, power and weight advantages tell from the off, to pressure Usyk and establish a rhythm yet was unable to land with brute force on the ever moving, ever darting, bald-headed figure before him.

Fleet of foot, out of range and then in range, Usyk was a ghost of a target, skills which will claim the former undefeated cruiserweight king a place in the pantheon of greats. Both men, Olympic gold medalists from London 2012 - Joshua at super=heavyweight, Usyk at heavyweight - gave their all here.

The plain truth is that Joshua, stylistically, was not a match for Usyk, slick, southpaw and supreme. They call him 'The Cat' and he displayed all those qualities.

The atmosphere in the stadium was electric. Ring legends present included Roy Jones Jr and Vitali Kitschko. In fact, the stentorian crowd booed the former WBC heavyweight champion and then whistled at and derided a stunning version of the Ukrainian anthem from an operatic diva as Usyk, eyes closed in his dressing room, looked deep in meditation and focus.

The sell-out crowd were certainly tested as it was almost an hour's wait between the chief support and the main event, a physical chess match, with many imponderables, that sends Joshua back to study his style. Usyk walked out to a pop/folk song, the visor of his cap over his face.

Once in the ring, 'The Cat' looked tense. "Oh An-tho-n-ee Josh-u-a," they chanted. The screens showed Joshua's brutal uppercut knockout of Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley Stadium in April 2017, and then out came 'AJ', to the strains of Afrobeat, looking loose and relaxed.

It was the fifth time he has made this ring walk out in front of a huge house, his comfort zone in the UK. Four times victorious, but not on this fifth occasion. There was no comfort in the ring.

Referee Michael Alexander gave them their final words and the dance began. Joshua was immediately into Usyk's space, pressing the challenger, probing him, going to head and body as Usyk twice landed his left hands, showing how dangerous a fighter he is, but throwing them without full force.

Usyk went from right to left, left to right in the second, swaying with his footwork, as Joshua, using his jab as his shield, tried to dominate the space between them. Usyk was moving faster in the third, showing his ring smarts.

Two powerful jabs from the Ukrainian and then a left hook made its mark on the champion. First three rounds to the challenger.

Usyk bossed the movement in the fourth, but always pressing, always lurking, and clearly looking to detonate, the champion. Brilliant first third of the fight by Usyk from the southpaw stance.

Then a right hook from Joshua in the fifth told on Usyk. Then a right to the body from the champion, and three more for good measure. Usyk felt each dent.

Then a body shot from the champion in the clinch. Finally, a powerful round for the now predatory champion. A huge right in the sixth stopped Usyk dead in his tracks, the clever southpaw using the ring to stay out off range for much of the round.

The fight was switching pattern and Joshua was now in the ascendancy. But it was short-lived as the Ukrainian came out sharp in the seventh. landing cleanly with a body shot and straight punches.

The Briton's power shots were evaded easily, and Usyk grew and grew. It got worse for Joshua, when he was wobbled three paces backwards by a straight left-cum hook to the chin in the seventh round, his most perilous moment.

Usyk came out with renewed vigour and energy in the eighth round, but Joshua kept the challenger at bay with two catapulted right hands that glanced off the man carrying the DNA of the Cossacks of the Crimean.

The Ukrainian carried the reputation of his brilliant fighting IQ into the ring, capable of scuttling the blockbuster Joshua versus Tyson Fury fight, the biggest, richest fight in British boxing history and worth an estimated £200 million.

It made Usyk a high-risk, low-reward opponent. Fury fights in two weeks' time, defending his WBC crown against Deontay Wilder in Las Vegas.

Joshua-Fury, as it stood, is dead. But Joshua must now rematch Usyk, in a difficult, difficult, fight.

RONALDO FLAUNTS HIS BODY PHYSIQUE IN MANCHESTER SUN

www.ireporttimes.com

Cristiano Ronaldo has been soaking up some sun alongside his family in the UK following his move back to the Premier League with Manchester United.

The Portugal icon is back in England and ready for his second debut for the Red Devils following nine seasons with Real Madrid and three with Juventus.

The 36-year-old, who lives with partner Georgina Rodriguez and children Cristiano Jr, Eva, Mateo and Alana Martina, looks delighted to be back on familiar shores.

Ronaldo spent six years at the club under the guidance of Sir Alex Ferguson between 2003 and 2009, and returns with his family having won a further four league titles.

Posting snaps of him and his family relaxing on Sunday, Ronaldo wrote:

"Who says Manchester has no sun?!?!"

With Georgina's upload saying: "How I missed living in the UK."

Ronaldo returned to England earlier than expected having picked up a booking and suspension for Portugal after becoming the most prolific men's intentional scorer of all-time earlier this week.

He said after his move to United was confirmed: "I have a fantastic history with this amazing club.

"I was there at 18 years old and of course, I'm so happy to be back home after 12 years. So I'm really glad and looking forward to starting my first game.

"I think it's the best decision that I have made. It's right on point in my opinion.

"I moved from Juve now to Manchester, it's a new chapter, I'm so happy and glad, and I want to carry on again, to make history, to try to help Manchester achieve great results, to win trophies and number one of them, to win great things."

And said after it was confirmed that he would wear No.7: "I wasn't sure if it would be possible to have the number seven shirt again.

"I would like to say a huge thank you to Edi for this incredible gesture."

Ronaldo is set to make his second debut for United against Newcastle on Saturday, and will be looking for his 119th club goal on his 293rd outing.

100 PRIVATE JETS IN KANO FOR YUSUF BUHARI'S MARRIAGE

www.ireporttimes.com

As the Bichi Emirate in Kano State hosts the wedding ceremony of Yusuf Buhari and Princess Zahra Ado Bayero, the Mallam Aminu Kano international airport in the city hosted several private jets of guests.

Nigerian leaders from the ruling All Progressives Congress and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, including past and present governors, and other dignitaries displayed wealth frontally on Friday by flying over 100 private jets to Kano State to attend the wedding of Yusuf, the son of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Amid the country’s rising debt profile blamed on wasteful expenditure by the leadership, over 100 private jets touched down on Friday at the Mallam Aminu Kano Airport owned by politicians and other affluent people attending the wedding.

The wedding between Yusuf and Zahra, daughter of Emir of Bichi, in Kano, has been tagged the merger of presidency and royalty by social observers.

The marriage of the new couple has been the talk of the town on social media for months.

“As we speak, there are more than 100 private jets at the Kano airport. You can hardly find a flight to Kano from anywhere since Wednesday. All the five-star hotels in this state have been booked. Kano is currently choked up. There is traffic congestion everywhere for Buhari’s son’s wedding,” a resident stated.

According to a statement by Garba Shehu, the President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Buhari had sent a high-level delegation led by Professor Ibrahim Gambari, his Chief of Staff, to make preparations for the wedding.

The presidential aide had revealed that the delegation includes several ministers, including retired Major-General Bashir Magashi, Defence; Alhaji Sabo Nanono, Agriculture; Sen. Hadi Sirika, Aviation; Suleiman Hussein, Water Resources; and Garba Shehu.

Dignitaries at the event include Atiku Abubakar, Buhari’s major opponent in the 2019 presidential election; Femi Fani Kayode, Buhari’s fierce critic; and Rauf Aregbesola, former Governor of Osun State.

AYADE SACKS AIDE, 'GENERAL IRON' WHO ALLEGEDLY KILLED SUSPECTED WITCHES

www.ireporttimes.com

The governor of Cross River State, Prof. Ben Ayade has approved the immediate sack of his Special Adviser on Forest Security, Mr. Thomas Obi Tawo, aka 'General Iron' with immediate effect.

This was disclosed by the Senior Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor, Mr. Christian Ita in a statement on Friday.

The governor directed Mr. Tawo to handover all government properties in his care to the office of the Chief of Staff to the governor.

Mr. Tawo was last year, accused of masterminding the lynching of suspected witches and wizards in Boki Local Government Area of the state.

A group, Advocacy for Alleged Witches, had called for the arrest and prosecution of Mr. Tawo.

The group also called for the sack of Mr. Tawo.

Its Chief Executive Officer, Leo Igwe, said:
"The attention of AFAW has been drawn to an incident of witch persecution in Cross River State. In this case, a local mob lynched the alleged witches. Some of the victims have died while others are in the hospital nursing their wounds.

"The unfortunate incident took place in Boki LGA in Central Cross River State. At least a dozen persons, mostly women who were alleged to be witches and wizards, were set ablaze at the instance of an adviser to the state governor who hails from that area. This adviser has been identified as Thomas Obi Tawo (aka General Iron). This incident happened on Tuesday, May 19, 2020."

Also, Mr. Tawo was last month, accused of beating to a pulp, former Cross River State lawmaker, Mark Obi Esq.

It was gathered that Hon. Obi was beaten by thugs led by General Iron and was rushed to the hospital.

BARCELONA CONFIRMS MESSI'S EXIT AS CONTRACT TALKS COLLAPSE

www.ireporttimes.com

Barcelona football club has announced that Lionel Messi will leave the club this Summer, after the parties failed to come to an agreement.

Messi has been out of contract since the end of June, but the general consensus was that a resolution would be found and his future would still lie at the Nou Camp.

Tonight, in a shocking turn of events, Barcelona have confirmed that Messi will not be playing for the club again.

“Despite FC Barcelona and Lionel Messi having reached an agreement and the clear intention of both parties to sign a new contract today, this cannot happen because of financial and structural obstacles (Spanish Liga regulations).”

“As a result of this situation, Messi shall not be staying on at FC Barcelona. Both parties deeply regret that the wishes of the player and the club will ultimately not be fulfilled.”

“FC Barcelona wholeheartedly expresses its gratitude to the player for his contribution to the aggrandisement of the club and wishes him all the very best for the future in his personal and professional life.”

Also, football transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Messi will not continue with the club next season.

Messi is arguably the greatest player of all-time, a legacy which has been built during a glittering career with Barcelona.

It’s a great shame that his future with the Catalan giants has been determined by financial restraints, rather than it being the right time for him to walk away.

Naturally, speculation will now intensify as to where Messi could be playing his football going forward.

For now, though, let’s let this sink in: Lionel Messi and Barcelona are no more.

FEC APPROVES CONSTRUCTION OF POWER SUBSTATIONS IN JIGAWA AND AKWA IBOM

www.ireporttimes.com

The federal executive council (FEC) has approved the construction of 2x60MVA and 2x30MVA power substations Jigawa and Akwa Ibom states respectively.

Sale Mamman, minister of power, announced this at the end of the FEC meeting in Abuja on Wednesday.

Substation is a transmission and distribution system consisting of transformers, circuit breakers used to regulate power gotten from generating companies (GenCos) then distributed to consumers.

“One is the construction of 2×60 MVA 132/33 substation at Gagarawa, Jigawa State in favour of Messrs Power Control and Appliances Limited in the sum of N454,212,396.05,” Mamman said.

“The second one is the award of the contract for the engineering, procurement and construction of 2×30 MVA 132/33 substation at Bonny, Ibom, Akwa Ibom State in favour of Messrs YEMEC West Africa Limited in the sum of US$6.2 million offshore plus N1.8 billion onshore.”

Recently, the federal government has invested in boosting electricity transmission and providing better access to Nigerians ranging from substations, solar grid system installations and power plants.

In February 2021, FEC approved the construction of a N35 billion power station for the Nigerian Export Processing Zone Authority (NEPZA) in Akamkpa, Cross River state.

In March, the council also approved contracts for constructing three substations in Kano and Benue states as well as for the extension of transmission lines in Abia and Imo states.

In the same month, it approved N6.2 billion for the ex*****on of various power projects across the country.

Muhammadu Buhari had inaugurated a 1.52 megawatts-peak (MWP) and 2.28 megawatts-hour (MWH) solar microgrid system for the ministry of works and housing and the ministry of environment, in Abuja.

Also in July, FEC approved the construction of a $39.9 million 220km Calabar-Ikom 132 cable double circuit transmission line.

THE DEMAND FOR HON ASUQUO UDO’S SCORECARD AND JOB CREATION, OVEREMPHASIZED AND PICAYUNISH

Epicentus ethically asserted “only the educated are free,” but a minor fraction of self-centered people with non-veritable spur still need extra education to jerk their cognitive abilities back to life.

Emanating from few quarters is the ungrateful spew on the lawmaker’s facilitation of the free JAMB enrollment for Ikono indigenes tagging the superlative gesture as “out of context” and “inconsequential”, his inability to procure employment and create jobs for Ikono people and the undue demand for scorecard presentation.

Exceptionally true was John Fitzgerald Kennedy’s “Our progress as a nation can be no swifter than our progress in education.” The development and everything meaningful in Ikono can only be attainable with emphatic gesture towards the growth of education.

Statistically, each time the window of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board Examinations enrollment opens the Ikono lawmaker spends over N1, 000,000 for prospective candidates from Ikono who are in pursuit of admissions into tertiary institutions. Has this laudable gesture not provided financial succor to the parents and guardians of these candidates? Even the doubters know it has. Independent findings have shown that few lawmakers have made this move in Nigeria and for Hon Asuquo Udo to toe this educational friendly line makes him the foster parent of the leaders of tomorrow and should rather be encouraged and applauded not criticized.

Within June/July 2021, the lawmaker has donated hundreds of writing desks to schools across the Cradle of Ibibio nation and has graciously given primary level scholarship (uniforms and teaching aids inclusive) to twenty (20) pupils in a standard private educational institution. Apart from the educational grants to Ikono indigenes in the prestigious Nigeria Law School, School of Nursing Anua, University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua and other tertiary institutions in the country, like four handed game, in education Hon Udo facilitates, pays, encourages and rewards.

In Hon Asuquo Udo’s personal capacity, he has an appreciable number of Ikono sons and daughters under his payroll and his generous attribute is highly commendable especially when it is geared towards meaningful course. As the Chairman House Committee on Agriculture, he has made great recommendations to the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, the Ministry of Agriculture and the state government on programs and policies that will enhance food sufficiency in the state in line with the completion agenda of HE Governor Udom Emmanuel. Under his watch, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture improved cassava stems have been distributed to farmers in Ikono. With inevitable good yield will this gesture not provide food (e.g. Garri) sufficiently to the people?

Those blind critics should note that whenever the window of employment opens which is always promulgated by the state government as it appertains to the committee he heads, he will graciously without hesitation recommend Ikono indigenes to become beneficiaries of such. These ungrateful pundits should also be ready to provide land for commercial agriculture when the plans toward this get approval.

What is scorecard? Is it really Hon Asuquo Udo’s scorecard that these few dissenting voices want? Across all the media platforms, the numerous achievements of the Ikono lawmaker were laid bare and individual attestations from direct and non-direct beneficiaries reverberated across the constituency especially when he marked his two years in office in June 2021. His life-touching projects and deeds are not hidden and what the doubting Thomases should rather do is to visit these project sites on a fact-finding mission and avail themselves of the bold truth. Rather than sitting down in the comfort of their homes, these misled critics, if they cannot be superheterodyne to receive the signals emanating from Hon Asuquo Udo’s effective representation should learn to go around and ask questions.

For the umpteenth time, Hon Asuquo Udo, the sterling and performing member representing the good people of Ikono in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly is undoubtedly one of the best lawmaker in Nigeria. He is supererogation metaphorically. Like Vauvernargues, what makes him one of the best is that his works signify confident optimism, humility and positive passion in serving and delivering the best form of representation to Ikono people.

WE HAVE NOT STOPPED NIGERIANS FROM USING TWITTER - FG TELLS COURT

https://ireporttimes.com/we-have-not-stopped-nigerians-from-using-twitter-fg-tells-court/

The Federal Government has told a Federal High Court in Lagos that it has not stopped Nigerians from using social media platform, Twitter, adding that many Nigerians are still using it every day.

The Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, and the Federal Government said this in a counter-affidavit they deposed to in response to an originating motion filed by human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong.

The government had on June 4, 2021, suspended Twitter barely two days after the social media platform deleted a tweet by the President, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).

However, many Nigerians have bypassed the Twitter suspension by using Virtual Private Network.

Malami in a statement threatened to prosecute Nigerians still using the platform while the National Broadcasting Commission ordered all radio and television stations to stop using Twitter or picking content from the platform.

Rights lawyer, Effiong, subsequently sued the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, Malami, and the Federal Government for suspending the social media platform.

In the fundamental human rights suit marked FHC/L/CS/542/2021, Effiong is seeking nine reliefs, including an order of perpetual injunction restraining the respondents from further suspending, deactivating or banning the operation and accessibility of Twitter or any other social media service in Nigeria because the act was in violation of his rights.
Effiong asked the court to declare as illegal the threat of criminal prosecution by Malami and Lai Mohammed against Nigerians who ‘violate’ the suspension or ban of Twitter, despite the absence of any written law.

In an affidavit deposed to by Mr Ilop Lawrence on behalf of the Federal Government and the AGF, it was stated that the suspension of Twitter was not an abuse of human rights because Nigerians were still using Twitter despite the suspension.

It read in part, “The applicant (Effiong) and the class he seeks to represent can still operate those Twitter accounts from anywhere in the world and even from Nigeria. Nigerians are still tweeting, even at this moment as the ban on Twitter is not aimed at intimidating Nigerians or an infringement on the rights of Nigerians to express their opinion.

The respondents (Federal Government and AGF) have never stopped the applicant (Effiong) and the class of persons he seeks to represent from voicing their opinions to access government information and offer criticism where necessary.”

The government told the court that Nigerians are still free to use other platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, Tiktok and others.

The Federal Government also denied knowledge of Twitter deleting Buhari’s tweet on the Biafra civil which offended many Nigerians.

It said Twitter had made its platform accessible to elements like Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra; and had supported the protests of October 2020 which was later hijacked by hoodlums.

The government further stated that Nigerians should direct their anger at Twitter and not the government because Twitter would not have been suspended if it complied with Nigeria’s laws.

It told the court that the Twitter suspension would be lifted once the platform registers with the NBC and the Corporate Affairs Commision.

IGBOHO'S WIFE, ROPO RELEASED BY BENIN REPUBLIC COURT, AS HE REMAINS IN CUSTODY

www.ireporttimes.com

The Cour De’appal De Cotonou, Benin Republic, where Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo (Igboho) and his wife, were arraigned on Thursday has ordered the wife to be released this evening.

It was learnt from court officials that the court ruled that Igboho should be returned to custody.

“They just finished from court. The wife is to be released this night and Sunday is to remain in custody. The matter was adjourned till Friday,” an official said.

As earlier reported, Sunday Igboho was awaiting his fate at the Cour De’appal De Cotonou, Benin Republic, following his arraignment by the authorities of the country for immigration-related offences.

Igboho was taken to court on Thursday afternoon.

A source said that the activist was not for extradition to Nigeria.

Earlier reports revealed how Benin Republic police on Monday night arrested Igboho at Cardinal Bernardin International Airport in Cotonou, while trying to fly from the country to Germany.

The Department of State Services (DSS) had on July 1 raided the residence of the activist in Ibadan, Oyo state.

Igboho had planned a ”Yoruba Nation Rally” in Lagos two days before the raid.

The DSS raided the residence, killing two people and arresting 12 aides but Igboho escaped.

The agency alleged that Igboho was stockpiling weapons, and subsequently declared him wanted.

The agitator had been on the run since the raid.

WIKE BLAMES CROSS RIVER PDP CRISIS ON IMOKE'S LEADERSHIP STYLE

www.ireporttimes.com

Mounting criticisms of the leadership style of former governor of Cross River State, Senator Liyel Imoke, as responsible for the present crisis engulfing the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has continued, with the governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, joining the fray.

In a remark by him that was supposed to be an eulogy of Imoke, during the recent celebration of his 60th birthday and the 10th anniversary of his Bridge Leadership Foundation (TBLF) as well as 11th Career Day Conference of the foundation, Wike choose to add some bile to the high tempo celebration, thereby altering the mood of the day, when he took on Imoke, heaping blame on him for the sliding fortunes of PDP in the state.

Imoke’s predecessor in office, Donald Duke was the first person to finger Imoke’s autocratic style of leadership for pushing Governor Ben Ayade and some of his cohorts out of the party to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

It was that same sentiment that was once again re-echoed by Wike, who accused Imoke of not doing enough to hold the party together in the state just as he took a swipe the national chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus.

According to Wike, leadership is not theoretical but practical, saying that his honouring of the invitation by Imoke was a demonstration of his leadership attribute, which he said Imoke and some of the national leaders of the party lacked, a development that he said is affecting the party adversely.

Wike said that if Imoke as the leader of the party during his tenure as governor and now as an elder of the party had demonstrated practical leadership that the party would not have suffered the fate visited on it.

The birthday celebration was attended by some of the national and state leaders of the party, friends and associates of Imoke, including Secondus, who left shortly before Wike mounted the podium, former Senate Presidents,
