In The UK an MP can receive as high as £500,000 annually
While a professor can earn as much as £90,000 annually
The MP money may include Salary, Committee role, Constituency allowance, his staff allowance, Travel allowance, Research among others
£500,000 is almost N1billion in Nigeria....
The comparison of Professor and MP salary in Nigeria is lame and outdated.... They have varied job description...
A professor who is fed up with his salary can contest as MP like Prof Julius Ihonvbere....
MP role is not restricted to anyone....
What ought to be of utmost importance to every Nigerian is their performance....
If the MPs in Nigeria play their oversight roles it would be difficult to steal public funds in Nigeria...
That is where they are failing Nigeria ...not what they earn...
I don't think there is any MP in Nigeria getting up to N1billion ...including his aides allowance...
Many Nigerians love ignoring substance to chase shadows....
We must all demand..our MPs play their oversight roles and protect our commonwealth instead of playing to the gallery....
The US is even bigger.... A senator can earn as much as $5million... That's almost N6.5billion, it include Salary and allowances...
Yet a professor earn about $150,000 annually, depending on university....
You won't see an American university lecturer comparing himself to Senators...
They have different job description....
Many Nigerians must crawl out of their local champion mentality, and have global view of issues.... The world is now one global village, all thanks to the internet and AI...
Some may still argue that it's because the afformentioned countries are rich...
In Ghana MPs get as much as ¢800,000 annually, salary and allowances..
Ghana professors don't earn more than ¢91,000...
That is not more than what professors earn in Nigeria...
Common sense is supposed to be common...
Those without it must strive to find it...
