You wouldn't start a workout without stretching first, right?

Well, the same principle applies to your voice.

Warmup your voice before recording your voiceovers and see what you have been missing out on.

Are you going to be trying this today?

It is another new week to show up strong and super determined.

I won't wait for tomorrow to start building the life I want.
I recognise the big difference between me today, and me tomorrow, is the action I take today, with what I have.

I believe we all have something in us to not only realize our dreams but to change the world around us. Like a farmer, I am not in the world to just take, but to give.

Every moment is an opportunity given to create the future we desire.

Do not take it for granted.

I hope this inspires you to take action today.

Don't keep sitting pretty, waiting for something big to fall on your lap.
Don’t wait for the opportunity to knock on your door.
Move yourself closer to opportunities.

Just start moving and perhaps, get to knock on the doors you want opened...

It's a beautiful week.

You're already winning!

Weekends are a time for relaxation, however for some, the weekends could be just as busy as the weekdays.

My weekends are usually filled with activities such as calls with prospective clients, working on ongoing projects, choir rehearsals, and practicing some voice training routines that are helpful for me as a voiceover artist and a music minister in my local church.

Other weekends, I might find myself preparing to host an event (and I look forward to more of that) or simply just spending some quality time with my family.

I woke up today with the memory from my days back in the University of Port Harcourt.
Some people would criticize and make mockery of me because of my “American accent”. Some weren't bold enough to do it to my face but it was easy to tell.

I remember one particular day I was really hungry and broke. All the money I had was just enough to pay for the campus to get to my house outside of campus.

As I sat on the passenger side in front of the bus, I noticed three of my course mates getting into the back seat, I said Hello to them and I instantly regretted acknowledging their presence on the bus because as soon as I greeted, one of them quickly replied, “you go dey speak English, the day hunger go sama you, you go leave this English.”

And even though, I had often ignored in moments when I was mocked because of my accent, that day, I said to them “someday this voice is going to cost a fortune, so much so that you can’t afford it.”

Funny thing is, I didn't even know how that was gonna happen.

Fast forward to 2 years after school I was already earning from my voice as a full time voice over artist and they were still job hunting.
I once shared a job opportunity and the first response came from one of them.

I instantly had a flashback and I was really grateful that I didn't let those negative voices drown me.

As of now, my voiceover has gone to places I have never imagined.

Clients have reached out to me from countries in other continents industries I'd typically not remember that easily.

Every voice is unique and has the power to make a difference. And I'm not just talking about being a voiceover artist here.

Embrace the power of your voice (in whatever sphere you're in) and let it resonate with purpose- Unknown

It's a beautiful day.

HOW'S YOUR DICTION?

Good diction is not just important in our day-to-day communications. It's also important when it comes to voiceover and the good news is, Fortunate Amukamara-Jubilite has agreed to teach for two nights this October.

During Voice Into Money training she will be helping you upgrade your diction. How's that?

I've never had to take a diction class but if I had to, she's among the few I'd have considered for coaching.
I particularly like working with her because she's exceptional.

You know how you can't endure listening to some diction instructors, let alone learn from them?

I have the ears for listening and filtering in/out.
This one knows her onions.

I told you there's so much value for you this season. Check my pinned post to see some of them.

Get Ready!
Voice Into Money is coming.

●Monday's Call to Action: Embrace the Fear

Yesterday I joined an audio event and one of the people who got up to speak (I did too), shared this quote from his mentor or coach, I can't remember now.

It says, "Be more afraid of being nothing than being something."

This powerful quote really resonates with me.

For a moment, I began to think of some life changing opportunities I didn't embrace in the past because I was too shy and concerned about what people would say.

I also thought about other things I went ahead to do, against all odds, and have never regretted! Marrying the love of my life is one of them. This year will be our 5th anniversary and it's been the most peaceful and happiest 5 years of my life so far.

See, you just have to learn to embrace fear and seize the opportunity to become your best self.
Trust me, it's "Now or Later" but the best time is actually... now!

It's natural to feel apprehension when stepping into the unknown, but we must shift our perspectives and see fear as a catalyst for growth rather than a hindrance. Granted, it's not so easy to do, but it's possible.

We live in a world that constantly encourages conformity but know this, it's essential to break free from the chains of mediocrity and push beyond the boundaries of what others may expect of you.
Embracing the possibility of failure or judgment is far better than living a life of regret and wondering "what if?"

I'm sure you've heard this before and it's true. There is greatness within each and every one of us. So take that leap of faith, and unleash true potential.

Here's to a week filled with courage and remarkable achievements.

Yours in voice and passion,

Darnley Uche

From 5K Mic 🎤 To Full-time Voiceover

I get so many compliments for everything these days.
From how my voice sounds, to my deliveries, to my home studio (which is still work in progress anyway).
You see, sometimes I sit back and imagine what it would have been if I never started out in the first place.

Very few know how it all began.
Let me share a bit of it.

My voiceover story is that of very humble beginnings accompanied by trials and errors.
The journey has been one of transformation from the unassuming to the extraordinary world of voiceover and audio production.

Picture this: a mere N5,000 ($6) microphone from 2019 nestled in my palm in this recent photo.
My pastor let me borrow his laptop for some other skill I was looking to acquire back then, but somehow I finally decided to go all in with voiceover.

My first voiceover gig was in 2017 but it wasn't stable then, and I never imagined I could go fulltime with it - only thing I noticed was, I felt an incredible joy shaping words and sounds. Then in 2019, some things played out and I decided to go all in even with basic equipment.
It was within those embryonic moments that the spark of passion I had once felt when I first learned about this thing called Vee-Oh re-ignited within me.

Of course, doubts did creep in from time to time. I'd pondered on what life might have been had I not embraced this path.
I probably would have been a 9-5'er. Don't get it twisted, there's absolutely nothing wrong with that, I just kept telling God I didn't want it for myself, especially with this Lagos kind of traffic.
If you've lived in Abuja for over 15years like I have, you could get traumatized in Lagos traffic. No kidding!

But amidst the doubts I had, I knew something important: my determination was unwavering. Each compliment, every nod to my voice's resonance, my delivery's cadence, the building up of my once non-existent purse and the evolution of my studio, reaffirmed that this journey was was worth it. By the way, I was sticking my head in a wardrobe then, to get a quiet sound.

Think of it again. From a borrowed laptop (which unfortunately got completely damaged in a motor accident) and a far from modest mi

INSIDE MY VOICEOVER JOURNEY

As a working professional voiceover artist, my home studio is the little sanctuary where the magic happens, where stories come to life through the power of spoken words in the form of Commercials, Audiobooks, Corporate videos etc.

But let's be real for a moment. Between interpreting scripts, capturing the ideal tone, and immersing myself in characters' worlds, it's easy to get lost in a world of sound waves. And while I'm in my element here, I'll admit, it can sometimes be overwhelming to find my way out into this buzzing social media universe.

But guess what? I'm here, right now, pouring my voice-filled heart out to you. Yes, you! Because, after all, connecting with you is an integral part of my artistic journey. I like to think of each and every one I'm connected to as a vital thread in the tapestry of my voiceover career.

Sure enough, social media can be a whirlwind, with its infinite scroll and countless notifications. But each day, I'm making the effort to be more present, more engaged, and more connected with you.

One way I'm weaving this connection is by sharing not only the finished voiceover gems but also the behind-the-scenes glimpses into my routines.
You'll witness the creative process unfold, the moments of triumph, and even the bumps along the way. Because let's face it, the journey is just as mesmerizing as the destination, isn't it?

Stay tuned for sneak peeks, tips, exclusive content, and maybe even a few surprises along this enchanting ride! And remember, your support means the world to me. So, let's connect, collaborate, and make some magic happen together!

And by the way I'd love to know what you're embarking on this weekend. I'm all ears, quite literally!

With love,

Darnley Uche (D'VoiceMayor)
