I teach children and young teens (ages 3–14) English online through fun and effective 25-minute classes. Each class is short enough to keep kids engaged but long enough to make real progress. Your child can join on a phone, tablet, or laptop using ClassIn, Zoom, or Google Meet.

Children will always surprise you. 😂❤️

My student and I were learning compare and contrast in a text, and I asked my student:

"What pets can we have at home?"

Without thinking twice, she confidently said:

"Fox!" 🦊😂

I laughed so hard.

Now, my fellow people... can we really keep a fox as a pet at home? 😂

Funny moments aside, compare and contrast is an important reading skill. It helps children think, observe differences and similarities, and express their ideas confidently.

And honestly, these unexpected answers are part of what makes teaching children so enjoyable. ❤️📚

Some classroom moments deserve to be celebrated. 🥹❤️

My student and I worked on pronouns and verbs, and my boy gave me his full cooperation. I asked questions, and he answered them confidently.

And I won't lie... I was impressed. 😂👏

This is the same student who started with me without really understanding what a sentence meant.

Now he's listening to questions, processing them, and giving answers on his own.

This is why I don't rush language learning.

For teachers: don't underestimate small progress.
For students: don't be discouraged because you can't do something today.

Sometimes, you just need more time, more practice, and someone who keeps encouraging you.

And yes, I have to give WonderSkills some credit too. 😂📚 It has been a useful resource for helping me practise these concepts with him.

Well done, my boy. This one made Teacher Debbie proud. ❤️👏

I don't know why, but sentence-making has become one of my favourite activities in class. 😂❤️

Maybe because that's when I get to see if my students are really thinking in English.

This girl made me so proud today. 🥹

She's been learning with me since I started my online teaching journey, and seeing her make her own sentences so confidently reminded me how far she has come.

Honestly, language learning isn't something that happens overnight, especially for children learning English as a second language.

It takes patience.

It takes consistency.

It takes practice.

And it takes a child who is willing to keep trying, even when they make mistakes.

Watching moments like this makes every lesson worth it. ❤️

Then numbers enter the lesson. 🎲🤣

Today, we rolled the dice, counted, laughed, and learned.

That's the fun part about teaching children. Sometimes, the best learning happens when they don't even realize they're learning.

One question parents ask me a lot is,

"Teacher Debbie, what books do you recommend for reading?" 📚😊

After using different books with my students, I can honestly say that Oxford Discover has become one of my favourites.

I love how it makes reading and comprehension simple, engaging, and interesting for children. It doesn't just ask them to read, it helps them think, understand, and express themselves.

One thing I should mention is that it doesn't focus on phonics, so you'll need a separate phonics resource alongside it.

If your child finds reading and comprehension a little challenging, this is a book series I'd gladly recommend from my classroom experience. ❤️

One thing I've learned about teaching children is this:

If they're having fun, they're learning. 😊

Today's lesson was all about the face especially the mouth and nose.

We didn't just memorize the words.

We watched a short video, laughed, pointed to our faces, repeated the words, and turned the lesson into a fun activity.

By the end of the class, my student wasn't just repeating the words; they were using them confidently. 🥹

Children don't always need more information. Sometimes, they just need a lesson they'll enjoy and remember.

Summer lessons for African children are still open, and I'd love to welcome more young learners into my classroom. 🌍☀️📚

This morning's class with my boy made me smile. 🥹❤️

I taught him the alphabet and their sounds, and today I asked him to write them on the board.

This boy went ahead and wrote everything by himself!👏😂

What I love about him is that he is always ready to learn, ready to be corrected, and ready to try again. That confidence didn't just appear overnight. Consistency played a big part too.

Sometimes, you just have to keep showing up for children. ❤️

New week, new learning, and we are already on it! 😂📚

Not because they're popular or unpopular, but because I always ask myself:

"What is this child learning from it?" 💭

As an English teacher, I look beyond entertainment.

Language.
Values.
Communication.
Confidence.

I was scrolling through my class videos today and this one made me smile. 🥹❤️

This boy joined my class in August last year.

At that time, speaking in complete English sentences wasn't easy for him.

On this day, we were reading a poem with rhyming words like *fly, high,* and *sky*. After the reading, I told him,

"Make your own sentences with these words." 😂

I honestly thought he would need my help.

To my surprise, he started making his own sentences one after another.

I just sat there smiling.

Sometimes, as teachers, we are so busy planning the next lesson that we forget to look back and see how far our students have come.

Watching this video again reminded me that every little effort counts.

Children really do make teaching worth it. ❤️

A parent asked me recently,

"Teacher Debbie, how much do you charge per lesson?"

After I told her my fee, she replied,

"That's expensive." 😊

I smiled and said,

"Let your child have just one lesson with me first. Then you'll understand why." ❤️

Teaching online is so much more than what people see on the screen.

Behind every class is preparation.

Different textbooks for different levels.

Different teaching methods because no two children learn the same way.

Lesson planning, parent communication, progress tracking... and yes, a little back pain from sitting for hours. 😂

When I looked at my timetable this week, I couldn't help but smile.

109 amazing learners. 🥹

That's 109 children with different dreams, different personalities, and different learning needs.

I'm grateful to every parent who has trusted me with their child.

Your trust means everything to me. ❤️

Summer holiday is here, and my summer lesson bookings are already coming in. I'm excited to welcome both new and returning learners.
