After childbirth, it’s normal for the va**na to smell a little different, even months later. This happens because:
• Hormonal changes: Pregnancy and breastfeeding lower estrogen, which affects the natural balance of bacteria and va**nal fluids.
• Healing process: If you had tears, stitches, or bleeding, the tissues take time to fully recover, and this can slightly change the scent.
• pH balance shift: The va**na may become less acidic after birth, making natural odors more noticeable.
• Sweat and discharge: With breastfeeding, hormonal shifts, and even stress, sweat glands around the va**na can also add to the new smell.
Here are some simple tips to stay fresh and healthy:
✅ Wash the outer part daily with mild, unscented soap and warm water (avoid douching).
✅ Wear breathable cotton underwear and avoid tight clothes.
✅ Change pads or panty liners often if you still have discharge.
✅ Drink plenty of water to keep your system balanced.
✅ Eat a healthy diet with yogurt, fruits, and vegetables to support good bacteria.
✅ Do pelvic floor exercises to improve blood flow and healing.
✅ If the odor is foul, fishy, or comes with itching, unusual discharge, or pain — see your doctor.
✨ Every woman’s healing journey is different, so give your body time and care.
Most of the time, it’s not a problem. But if the smell is very strong, fishy, or foul, or comes with itching, burning, unusual discharge, or pain, it could be an infection, and you should see a doctor.
