We've got an announcement everyone.🤓✨

Artswax Communications is excited to announce the upcoming unveiling of the play text "Tafawa Balewa: The Golden Voice of Africa" written by Ola Awakan

The story of Tafawa Balewa is part of our ongoing "Tales of Legend" series, where we combine history with storytelling and theatre to educate and honor our past heroes.

We are proud to announce that this dream has taken off beyond stage and will be published so the public especially students and history enthusiasts can have access to it.

The book will be officially unveiled on Sept 30th during the independence day restaging of the play which will be performed by secondary school students from various schools in Lagos.

A significant part of our goal for the book launch is to ensure that copies are distributed to public libraries and schools across the state and the country;

We had our first round of audition for the upcoming student production of "Tafawa Balewa: The Golden Voice of Africa".🤗

Unlike our past productions, we are retelling the story of the late prime minister with secondary school students.

Using storytelling and theatre as a medium to connect them back to the historical richness of Nigeria as well as instill a sense of patriotism and cultural awareness.

It's going to be an exciting ride.

Today marks the 12th memorial of Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji, a titan of trade, a matriarch of influence, and a cultural icon whose legacy remains deeply woven into the fabric of our nation.

At Artswax Communications, we recall our Abibatu Mogaji Immortalisation Project, where we used live theatre to preserve the legacy of Mama. Retelling her life through a gripping autobiographical stage play that captured her essence, spirit, and story.

This wasn’t just a performance. It was a living tribute.

Guess which play on Nigeria's legendary Prime Minister is coming back to the stage?🤗

Before we embarked on the first production of "Tafawa Balewa" to tell the life and times of the first Prime Minister of Nigeria, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, our team traveled to his hometown in Bauchi State to seek the blessings and endorsement of his family.

We met with Baba Yakubu Tafawa Balewa (the first male child of Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa), Mallam Usman Tafawa Balewa (he got hospitalized while we were preparing for the Abuja show, and sadly, he passed away. May his gentle soul continue to rest in perfect peace).

We also met other family members such as Mallam Haruna Tafawa Balewa and Mallam Saddik Tafawa Balewa, the spokesperson of the family. They were excited about the development and gave their blessings.

Tafawa Balewa will be coming back to the stage soon and we are so excited.💯

We celebrated women and motherhood with the amazing stage production "Blood and the Smile".💯
The play was written by Olayiwola Awakan GrPr and directed by Ifeanyi Ezikwu.
