Circa Aug’ 2023…

I took a chance at an adventure no one knew I was taking at least not in the mode or form I was exploring.

I had made posts here asking people to join me but the group had refused to leave the group chat. So, in my usual fashion I decided “if I perish, I perish”. And if I didn’t well, I will tell the story.

I went on 4.5 hour trip by water from CMS jetty to Porto Novo. My father would never have believed if I told him 😂.

I had my passport, yellow fever card and a 100k travel budget I knew I couldn’t overshoot. And I went for 6 days to Benin 🇧🇯.

P.S: we are going to Benin & Togo next week, dm if you want in!

did a number on me tbh. Watching this series from start to the season finale again and I can’t help but wonder how the teenage me:
1. Was rooting for even when it started as adultery
2. Believed their relationship to be in anyway healthy, there was a lot of manipulation and gaslighting between the characters, it was like a political chess♟️.

The adult me is also reminded of the dangers of d*mn good story and how it can make you hate or love a character irrespective of their foibles.

Oh well, as we in the era of of some of the best classics such as Tyler Perry’s why did I get married again? Legally blonde. I wonder if Shonda will do us the honour of Olitz life after the White House? Or should we just leave the story as it is in our minds - with jam and Vermont?

My boss once described me to another colleague as “assertive” where often as women or even humans we’re expected to toe a preordained line either be aggressive or docile. No one really expects you to be kind, understanding but clear about what you don’t want…

Reading this book these past few days reminds me again that Christ died for a bunch of imperfect people. Ultimately, we are all flawed but the biggest mistake one can make is thinking our “biases” aren’t layers or blinders we wear when we meet or connect with people, new or old.

It starts from the ground, the planting, the wait, the harvest. The sorting to get it to wooden
tables/trolleys like this, it continues with a bit time under the sun before it gets to kitchens.
