The first layer of security should be provided by you.
I have 2 friends one had CCTV camera inside and outside his compound and inside his sitting room..while the other is 24/7 with his police security details
Mind u we dey stay for inside an estate.
Moral lesson
If you feel you ate not safe where you ate take protective measures to secure yourself and your family.
On a personal level all things being equal I can't stay or build a house in place that's not a gated estate.
Moral lesson
(1) Get a trained guard dog.
(2) Ensure you have full CCTV coverage in your house
(3) install cat tracker in your car
(4) Activate the tracking feature on your phone.
(5)Ensure your barbed wire electric fence is electrified
(6)Ensure you have the DPO number of the nearest police to u on speedd dial.
(7) if u can afford it get security details
(8) Get a gun license and practice how to use the fire arm

Why it's seems the military often withdraw from their position the cause as narrated by someone.
When the military are deployed to these area majorly to maintain the peace.
The military commander then goes out of his way and makes investigation: he does a fact finding from both the herders and the farmers.
It's usually a case on the part herders their cow was rustled away,poison.,they had their men killed.
And the military commander perhaps based on chiefly ethnic and a tinge of religion ; withdraw from their position held ..just giving a clear path for the herders to exert revenge

Open letter to the minister of education and all commissioner of education.
Your pupils and students are the victims of the activities of the terrorists.
This is what you need to do draft / introduce into the school curriculum a subject titled survival and self defense skills.
Where the students/ students will be taught how to survive a hostage situation: this like the type of food and how to get water and how to take care of the wounded ( simple first aid)And or course teach them how to handle themselves via hand to hand combat.
