Owo Church killing: Abiodun commiserates with Arakunrin Akeredolu, Ondo people

Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, has expressed grief over the murder of worshipers during a mass at the St Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa, Owo, Ondo State, on Sunday, by gunmen.

The governor equally commiserated with the governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu and the people of the state, over what he described as a "sad and disheartening incident".

Abiodun, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin, said that the Owo Church attack where innocent souls were cut short, came to him as a rude shock, especially at a period when efforts were being made to enhance the security architecture in the southwest.

According to the governor, the killing of defenceless adherents in the church showed that the assailants were not only barbaric, but satanic.

He added that a killing of such a scale was planned and executed to plant fears in the hearts of the people and paint a picture of anarchy, particularly, as the nation is preparing for the general election next year.

Abiodun, who expressed his condolences to those who lost their loved ones in the attack, said that the government and people of Ogun state are with the government and people of Ondo in this time of their grief.

The governor, however, called on the security agencies to ensure the perpetrators of the heinous crime are apprehended.

Abiodun also urged his Ondo State counterpart not to be swayed and discouraged by the latest incident, but continue to be vocal against and stand against insecurity.

"Our hearts go out to the families of those who lost their loved ones in the church attack, the government and the good people of Ondo State.

"The news of the unfortunate incident came to me as a rude shock! One wonders who enters into a place of worship and unleashes terror on the worshipers. This incident has indeed shown that the insecurity in the country is becoming worse, and it needs to be curtailed as a matter of urgency.

"As a government, we stand with the Ondo State government and the people in this moment of grief. Though, the attack is devastating, I would like to urge Governor Akeredolu not to be fazed by this latest incident, rather, he should continue to be vocal and maintain his stance against insecurity.

"We sincerely pray that the departed souls rest in the bosom of the Lord, while their families be given the fortitude to bear this painful loss.

"I hereby join my brother governor to call on the security agencies to go after these evil doers, with the view of bringing them to justice". Abiodun was quoted to have said in the statement.

Dapo Abiodun: How sterling performance defies venom of calumny

The brewing smear campaign against the incumbent Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, by drowning politicians in the State, led by the former Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, is not in anyway strange to every discerning individual in the state and beyond, in fact, it is even expected, going by the enviable performance of the Governor and the cynic nature of his predecessor.

This war of attrition that started since the very moment Dapo Abiodun indicated interest to change the trend of despotic governance in Ogun State by vying for governorship on the platform of APC continued rather tirelessly, as the king of the manor remains blindfolded by inordinate ambition of total dominance.

The onslaught against Governor Abiodun was later intensified when his dynamic leadership became manifested in the steady and progressive manner he is transforming the state from all fronts, especially in the area of infrastructure and human capital development, despite the enormity of deficit left behind by his predecessor.

Obviously, this revolutionary change of order to the admiration of many in the State, especially the downtrodden, who had been callously oppressed by the suffocating civilian junta superinteded by Ibikunle Amosun became a nightmare for the former Governor and his cohorts, hence, the move to bring the incumbent Governor down by all possible means.

That Amosun and his co-travellers have thrown decency and Omoluabi ethos into the dustbin is no more a news, they have practically become satanic and dangerously desperate, in their fruitless efforts to take over mantle of leadership by force in order to continue with their oppression.

It is shameful that Amosun and his foot soldiers could come this low after their failed attempts to stop the Governor in the countdown to 2019 gubernatorial election in the State, and the level of global embarrassment they brought to the State during campaigns.

Sincerely, this paradigm shift in the pattern of development and growth in all strata of the State and the people-oriented leadership entrenched by Dapo Abiodun in Ogun State will not stop, no matter the degree of propaganda embarked upon by Ibikunle Amosun and his docile team.

It is quite interesting now that majority of Ogun Citizens are aware of the antics of the former Governor to impose a rubber stamp on the State and rule by proxy, which informed his cat race to control the party and the political structure.

While it is certain that many Nigerians are also aware of the intricacies of cold war in the political space of Ogun State, spearheaded by Senator Ibikunle Amosun and the determination of the people in the State to follow the path of honour and developmental leadership as against autocracy and deception, it is therefore instructive to tell Amosun and his 'boys' to listen to the evergreen warning of Amil Cabral:

"Hide nothing from the masses of our people. Tell no lies. Expose lies wherever they are told.

"Mask no difficulties, mistakes, failures. Claim no easy victories".

The chairman of Riders and Owner of Motorcycle in Ogun State Alhaji Rasak Olushola Shotayo has called for support for the re-election of Prince Dapo Abiodun as the Governor of Ogun State

He made this known during the exco meeting of the union
SHOLEBO has foundly called while giving account of the union achievement so far expressed his sincere appreciation to His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun for the creation of ROMO.

“We can not say anything about ROMO today without firstly appreciating His Excellency, Prince Dr Dapo Abiodun who gave us the opportunity to operate successfully withing and outside the state"

Though we are not partisan but let me open say this His Excellency deserves a second term and by the grce of the almighty, we will do everything in our capacity to ensure his emergence".

He, therefore, appealed to other union leaders to unite and work for the success of the state by supporting Price Dapo Abiodun for second term

He sued for peace and called for a replica of the founding fathers’ attitude for the unity and progress of the nation.

“We should not fan the ambers of hatred because where there is war, nothing is secured,” he cautioned.

Easter: Abiodun greets Christian faithful, urge them to pray for Nigeria, Ogun

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has felicitated Christian faithful in the state over the Easter celebration and urged them to use the celebration to pray for Nigeria in general and Ogun in particular.

The governor, who noted that Easter is one of the celebrations which signifies and renews hope in mankind, said the best way to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ is for the Christian faithful to imbibe and live the teachings of Jesus

Abiodun, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin, on Saturday, said the greatest sacrifice Christ made and his resurrection should serve as an assurance that there is hope that the country will surmount its present challenges.

While calling on the people to see the Easter period as not only for celebration of triumph of Christ over death, but a period of sober reflection, particularly, at this moment the nation is facing insecurity and economic downturn, the governor, enjoined them to celebrate moderately.

He also urged them to be their brothers' keepers and share with those who don't have, noting the essence of the celebration is to show love and be good neighbours.

Abiodun added though the greater love had been demonstrated to mankind by Jesus who sacrificed died to give life to the world, spreading of love by the Christian faithful during Easter will be reliving love Christ preached while on earth.

The governor, therefore, assured that his administration will continue to work to ensure the state is safe and attractive to investors, submitting that Ogun residents will always be centrepiece of his administration's policies and programmes.

Train attack; Abiodun commiserates with Buhari, Gov. El-Rufai

The Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, has commiserated with President Muhammadu Buhari and Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai on the terrorists' attack on passengers onboard Kaduna-Abuja train, which left no fewer than eight persons dead and several injured

Abiodun, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin, on Wednesday, described the attack on the passenger train as tragic and barbaric.

He said the incident, which occured on Monday was not only unfortunate, but disheartening, particularly when President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration is rebuilding railway infrastructure, which had been moribund over the years.

Abiodun, who expressed sadness over the deadly attack, said bandits and terrorists are now turning on critical infrastructure when they have been smoked out from their hideouts in the forests.

While commending the Buhari-led FG for carrying the battle to the bandits, noted that efforts must be intensified by the security agencies to ensure the bandits have no breathing space.

The governor, however, hailed his Kaduna State counterpart, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, for his stance against banditry and all forms of insecurity in the state, urging him not be discouraged by the latest attack.

Abiodun further condoled with the families of the victims of the attack, praying God to give them succour and heal their pains.

He also prayed for the departed souls to find repose.

"On behalf of the government and people of Ogun State, I want to express condolence to the FG and the Kaduna State Government, over the said incident on Monday. The attack on the Abuja bound train by bandits was nothing but height of wickedness.

"The innocent souls lost during the attacks were Nigerians going about doing their normal business, the attack was an unfortunate one, especially when many Nigerians now see the revamped train service by President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government as a safe and convenient mode of transportation.

"While I commend the FG on turning the heat on the these undesirable elements, which has made them to scamper from their hideouts in the forests, I want to urge our security agencies to intensify efforts to rid the country of these criminals.

"Similarly, I salute the courage of Governor Nasir El-Rufai for standing against banditry and all forms of insecurity in Kaduna State. I want to urge him not to be fazed and discouraged by this latest cowardly attack on innocent citizens.

"I pray that God grant the families of the victims the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. I also pray the departed souls find repose in the bosom of their Maker". Abiodun was quoted to have said in the statement.
