TEACHING: "Pray or Fall Prey" (18).
Many destinies have been diverted, marriages shattered, and lives wasted because people ignored the power of prayer. Satan is not intimidated by passive Christians; he only fears those who know how to bend their knees in prayer. This is why Jesus repeatedly instructed His disciples to “watch and pray” (Matthew 26:41). He knew that without prayer, they would be powerless in the face of temptation.
Prayerlessness is a silent killer. It does not destroy a person suddenly, it weakens them gradually. The moment you stop praying, you start dying spiritually. It is like a fire that slowly burns out when it lacks fuel. The sad reality is that many believers do not even notice when their prayer life begins to fade. They still go to church, still sing worship songs, but deep inside, they have become spiritually cold.
Consider Peter. He was one of Jesus’ closest disciples, yet when Jesus told him to watch and pray at Gethsemane, he fell asleep (Luke 22:45-46). He thought he was strong, but when the moment of testing came, he denied Jesus three times. This is what happens when we neglect prayer, we overestimate our strength and fall when temptation comes.
In real life, many people experience unnecessary failures, delays, and heartbreaks because they have neglected their spiritual life. A businessman who stops praying suddenly finds his finances in chaos. A woman who used to cover her children in prayer notices them drifting away. A minister who once walked in power now struggles with stagnation. The enemy works subtly, he does not always attack with loud storms but with gradual dryness until a person has no spiritual strength left.
