*Displaced Victims of Fulani Militia Attacks in Bokkos LGA of Plateau State Decry Neglect, Call on Government and Well-Spirited Nigerians for Humanitarian Intervention*
The need for humanitarian interventions and assistance in Bokkos Local Government Area maybe well documented, as in other parts of Plateau state plagued by incessant terrorists attacks, but the need for more attention there remains critical.
Having escaped the thorns of death from their ancestral communities, Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) had converged at a location in the headquarters of Bokkos, but had to be relocated back to Ngwahap and Horop communities due to deprivation.
A reliable source who spoke to our correspondent, Gilbert Joseph, says "Their protectors became predators, denying them most relief materials and assistance rendered by well-meaning individuals and organizations.
"This led to the decision to take them back to those communities, implying that every spirited individuals and bodies who intend to offer them help would go their an meet them directly, but considering the risk and distances involved, they become reluctant."
The situation, on a closer look at the school and another location visited by our correspondent had become deplorable as IDPs either have to sleep on bare floors or stand on their feet during rainfalls as the rooftops are now in their worse conditions.
In separate interviews, Hon. Shadrach Longji, one of the heads of the camps admitted that some support had come in for the victims but more clearly remains to be done.
"As you have seen for yourself, these victims are not having it funny, hence the need for them to go and work on people's farms so they can get what to eat.
"These persons are going through tough times as their lands have now been taken over by Fulani militias and even the security personnel cannot help them to go back. We are calling on all people of good will to come in and support them in any way they can."
None of the victims at Horop camp was on ground to comment as they had all gone to the farms, leaving security men posted there, children and the aged behind.
At another location, Mbor, once a community full of life has now become a ghost environment with few persons relying on the special forces for cover while they temporarily farm in the day and return to safer locations at nights.
Secretary of the Church of Christ in Nations, COCIN LCC Mbor, Mr. Dishik Sati told our man that victims from the community were yet to be accounted for as they have all deserted the land.
According to him "We seriously need intervention here as we have never been reached by either government, individuals or bodies since the killings and destructions that took place here."
While the reality of the victims in Bokkos remains a scorging one, what is however clear is that they are resolute and hopeful that they will return to their ancestral lands and rebuild their shattered economy.
