The greatest thing that I find against the church tonight, is fear, everybody is scared to death about something. What are you scared about? If a man’s borned again, he should be happy, carefree. Just like these fellows singing up here, and the brother testifying back there, just free! There ain’t nothing can harm you. Nothing present, nothing future, nothing can separate us from the love of God that’s in Christ. God has promised!

We hear so much today about Christians has got to be millionaires, you have to own a fleet of Cadillacs or you’re not spiritual. How far that is! I was speaking to a group of man here a few nights ago, that has spread propaganda across the world, on books, and so forth, that you must…become a Christian and your business flourish, and everything. Which that’s good, God will do that, but what we need today is not a flourishing business, what we need today is a testimony of the power of the resurrection of Jesus Christ as a living witness.

We Americans are too good. We just don’t realize how lowdown we are. That’s right. We’re too good. We’re always better than somebody else. You poor, naked, wretched, miserable hypocrite! Don’t you know you are lost? Oh, America, how oft God would have took you, but you would not! How He has sent you righteous men who preached, and lived on soda crackers and branch water, bread and water. And you made fun of them and called them, “holy-roller,” pitched them in jail, and tore up their places, and despised them. Oh, you’re too good. You don’t—you don’t need anything.

The Bible said, in Revelation, “Know ye not that you’re blind, miserable, wretched, poor, and naked, and don’t know it?” Oh, yes!

I many times preach funerals. And I never try to say too much about the person that’s passed on, because there is no need of saying it. The people, the life the man has, or woman, whatever it might be, has lived, will speak louder to the congregation than anything I could say about them. I would never change their opinion. Their life told what they were.

And then we never know just what we’re doing, what influence, what we’re doing, is having upon others. The Bible said, “We are written epistles, read of all men.” That is, your life reads so loud to the public, until your testimony, if it’s contrary to your life, is without any effect. It’s what you are inside of you, that people read; not so much what you say, but what you are, see.

If we take the testimony of being Christians, I think that that is one of the most solemn things that a man or a woman, boy or girl, could do, would. When he takes on the Name of Christ, that he is going to be a representative of Christ, you should watch every move you make, because somebody is watching you. And, in this, it reflects what’s God has done for you, inside of you.
