Important Update: Link Your NIN to Avoid Bank Account Restriction from January 1, 2026
The Nigerian Tax Administration Act (NTAA) 2025 has introduced a new requirement that mandates all bank accounts in Nigeria to be linked with either a Tax Identification Number (TIN) or National Identity Number (NIN) (for individuals without a TIN).
Effective January 1, 2026, any bank account that is not linked to a valid TIN or NIN may be restricted from performing transactions (including transfers, withdrawals, payments, etc.).
To prevent any disruption to your banking services, kindly ensure your National Identity Number (NIN) is updated and linked to your account as soon as possible.
