Episode 10

Tana, my step mom, began to show her true colours when things began to fall apart for my dad. I remember my dad's building materials warehouse being guy by fire, strangely, just a week after his container came in and he had stocked up the warehouse. He had hoped to make massive sales to recover the money invested in the business but his dream never came true. The warehouse and all the goods in it, mysteriously got burnt to ashes. His finances got ruined and his health, tampered with.

Like that was not enough, it was one misfortune after another until my father returned to zero level. He resorted to joining other labourers to do menial jobs on different building sites, even with those he previously paid as menial workers. He also did so many odd jobs he could lay his hands up just to keep body and soul together while his wife didn't spare any chance to squander his hard earned money with her too high taste and unbridled quest for vanity.

Episode 9

My father's old diary, as I read with shock, revealed how Tana, my mother, whom I barely knew, was p0is0ned to deæ-th by her best friend, my step mom after so many attempts to sn**ch my dad away from her, through fe**sh means, failed. According to the diary my mother was nursing me at the time.

The diary also revealed how my father used to be a wealthy building contractor and merchant, back in the days. He sold building materials in very large quantities and was a major distributor for a very famous building materials company, based in the USA but has its annex here in Nigeria. Everyone loved my dad.

Things began to fall apart, suddenly, when he married my step mom(under the influence of a love potion and chárm, fed him by my step mom), barely six months after my mother's funeral.

She practically remote -controlled my dad to do all her bidding, whether or not they were necessary... Poor thing! My father was sore bew1tched for he squandered his fortune, funding her excesses. By the time he got back his senses, it was already too late. A lot of dámáge had been done, already.

My dad left a short note inside his pocket. Luckily, it was found by his one of his closest buddies and confidant at work.
" PLEASE PROTECT MY DAUGHTER. SHE'S ALL I'VE GOT LEFT", the note read.

My father may not have been satisfactory schooled but he sure knew how to express himself in the simplest of grammar and I love him for that.

I got hold of his old diary, one morning while doing a thorough clean up of his room, a year and six months, after his deáth and that was when I understood everything. His deãth and the circumstances that followed, forced me to mature, faster than I would have normally done.

My father began to live a hide and seek life with his money and personal affairs until he passed away, sádly.

He didn't confide much in me. Perhaps, he felt I was too young to understand. The only thing I remember so well he always told me was to be careful of his wife, my step mom. He confessed she could "do" and "undo". Although, I didn't understand what that meant, yet, I feared to ask my wéak father about it.

A wave of féár gripped me when the doctor phoned my step mom to tell her that my father had fallen off a height at the building site where he was working with his other colleagues and had been rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment. He didn't survive the fall. Aside the fall, the doctor confirmed that my dad had súfféred a heart attack, previously.

I heard what the doctor told my step mom. The phone was on loud speak

I cried all night... Finally, I had lost the only family I had left...
