On this auspicious occasion of Nigeria's Democracy Day and celebration of 25 years of unbroken Democracy, I join millions of Nigerians to heartily felicitate with Mr President on the milestone achieved in pursuit of a democratic, egalitarian and free society in Nigeria.

There is no doubt that you are an unwavering soldier of Democracy who has been in the vanguard of securing a just, equitable and fair country and a better future for all.

History has recorded our Contributions as Progressives, from NADECO days that gave birth to the fourth Republic, When you joined to form the Alliance For Democracy (AD), Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), then to your immeasurable contribution that led to the formation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and now as President and Commander in Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to practice true Democracy for the good of our dear nation. There is no doubt that you have laboured and sacrificed for Democracy and its enthronement in our nation.

No wonder Nigerians rewarded your sacrifices with their massive mandate which they collectively gave to you at the polls.

Mr President Sir, It is heartwarming that you have justified this confidence and mandate through the Renewed Hope policy of your administration which among other things aims to extricate millions of vulnerable Nigerians out of poverty.

Your Excellency, I warmly congratulate you on this epochal occasion of Democracy Day and wish you many more years of service to our fatherland.

Democracy Day Celebrations: Hon. Godwin Offiono Hails Nigerians.

Today, on Democracy Day, Hon. Godwin Offiono, representing Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency, pays tribute to Nigeria's fallen heroes who fought tirelessly for our rights and freedoms, which are essential to our strong democratic governance and the country's existence. He commends Nigerians for their dedication to national unity, progress, and cohesion.

The lawmaker acknowledges the struggles of our brave men and women for Nigeria's liberation, which has brought us to where we are today. He encourages Nigerians to continue to hold the country in high esteem, with hope and trust for a better future.

Despite the economic challenges and difficulties faced by Nigerians, he urges the government at all levels to intensify efforts in addressing pressing issues affecting the citizens. HAPPY CHILDREN'S DAY MESSAGE FROM DR. Helen Isamoh , COMMISSIONER FOR HUMANITARIAN AFFAIRS AND POVERTY ALLEVIATION,

The Honourable Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Helen Isamoh has sent a message honouring the children of Cross River State on this Children's Day, 27th May 2024.

While speaking today, she said that Children's Day is a day that has been set aside to celebrate children nationwide. She reminded everyone that children are worth celebrating because they are blessings from God.

In wishing all the children in Cross River State and Nigeria at large a Happy Children's Day, she advised parents to invest in their children's academic pursuit for our children are the leaders of tomorrow.

The Honourable Commissioner noted that Education is the bedrock of every nation, and that a nation that fails to invest in its children academically will have a bleak future. She stressed that it is important and very pertinent to train our children to be Intellectually sound in their areas of educational interests because they will lead and control the resources of the nation tomorrow. Dr Helen Isamoh added that, the degree of development of any country depends on the level of education its children have been exposed to.

The Honourable commissioner advised the children to be dedicated to their studies and always take their schooling seriously. She said they must shun cultism, immoral tendencies, and all negative social involvements that would distract them from a focused engagement with their academic success.

Dr. Helen Isamoh encouraged children to always invite God into their lives in whatever they do. She advised the children to obey their parents because the scripture promises them a long life on earth as the reward for their obedience.

The Commissioner added that our State Governor, His Excellency Prince Bassey Otu and his dear wife, our First Lady, Mrs. Eyoanwan Bassey Otu live a life worth emulating. She observed that our Sweet Prince is a man of focus and determination, as well as a dynamic leader who joyfully embraces any challenges that come his way. She added that our children will offer our State a vibrant future by emulating the Governor's example of leadership and humility.

The forum's spokesman 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗲𝗳 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘆 𝗘𝗱𝗲𝗺, while speaking at the meeting on behalf of the youth body, commended the young, workaholic and energetic Commissioner (𝗣𝗜𝗨𝗦 𝗘𝗗𝗘𝗧) for granting them audience within a short notice while describing him as a man of the people likewise applauded the amazing and one of the most performing Governors in Nigeria, 𝗛𝗶𝘀 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗦𝗲𝗻. Continuing, 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗲𝗳 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘆 liken the visit to a popular parable "𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗿𝘂𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗼𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴" as he appealed to the government for urgent intervention work on 𝗜𝗞𝗢𝗧 𝗨𝗗𝗨𝗔𝗞 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗕𝗢𝗞 𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗘𝗧 along parliamentary road in calabar given that residents in the area are not finding it easy during this rainy season because of floods caused by lack of proper drainage system

In his words "The major roads at Parliamentary are in a deplorable condition and requires urgent intervention by the people's first government" while stating that the major cause of the ugly situation is lack of a good drainage system in the area which poses serious threats to lives and properties of the people.

Addressing the youths, the amiable commissioner, 𝗛𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗶𝘂𝘀 𝗘𝗱𝗲𝘁 assures them of rapid response from the government given that Prince Otu led administration is proactive when it has to do with the good people of cross river state while admonishing them to be of good behavior, shun social vices likewise protect government infrastructures from the enemies of the state

Be good ambassadors of this great state and support government to do more irrespective of the political parties you belong to because governance has nothing to do with political parties but general good of the people said 𝗛𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗶𝘂𝘀

One of man's glorious tasks, according to Sophocles, is "to be doing good deeds", and doing good certainly remains a universal vision. This has been the task of the Honourable Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Dr (Mrs) Helen Isamoh Egodo even before her assumption of duty as Commissioner, and hence, was yesterday 16th May, 2024, honoured with an Award of Excellence by the Hope Ability Empowerment Initiative (HAEI) for her remarkable advocacy which has significantly advanced inclusivity and empowerment among vulnerable individuals, and commitment to improving the lives of people with disabilities in Cross River State.

This award, according to the Chief Executive Officer of HAEI Dr Mrs Martina Ongbonya Ntino, who presented the award on behalf of HAEI, was in recognition of the pivotal roles played by the Honourable Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation in shaping policies that have impact on the lives of people with special needs and the vulnerable individuals in our State. It was, also, according to Dr Ntino, in acknowledgement of Dr Helen Egodo's exceptional performance, achievements, and contributions towards ameliorating the living standards of all Cross Riverians.

It could be recalled that the Honourable Commissioner Dr Helen Isamoh Egodo recently delivered food items and other relief materials to Ogoja inmates of the Nigerian Correctional Service, made an on the spot Assessment Visit and provided food items and relief materials to internally displaced persons who fled the 5th December, 2023 Cameronian Amazonian Attack in Balegete, Obanliku Local Government Area as well as an Assessment Visit to victims of fire disaster in Bebuabong Community in Obudu Local Government Area.

In her remarks, Dr Helen Isamoh Egodo, while dedicating the award to staff of her ministry, thanked members of the Hope Ability Empowerment Initiative for following the activities of her ministry and honouring her with an Award of Excellence. She attributed her achievements to the continuous support of His Excellency Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, his yearning for a better life for all Cross Riverians, and eagerness to deliver on the People's First agenda. The Honourable Commissioner promised to do more for crises-affected communities, and vigorously pursue disaster management and social development.

Dr Helen Isamoh Celebrates Birthday With Orphans

The CRS commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and poverty alleviation, Dr HELEN ISAMOH Egodo celebrates her 2024 birthday anniversary with orphans at the UWANSE ORPHANAGE HOME in calabar. It's a tradition for her to celebrate her birthday with street kids and orphans

Being a selfless Humanitarian, Dr Helen has impacted greatly and positively in the lives of people irrespective of age, ethnicity, religion, party affiliations & social status.

For Dr Helen, everyone needs help and support no matter the measure, waiting to have plenty before reaching out is an error and a backward mindset that needs to be overhaul

Speaking at the event, She reiterated the need for everyone to take Humanity seriously given that even Christ commandeth in MATHEW 25:40 " that Whatever you do to thy brother you have done unto him"

Continuing, she said many children always look forward to their special day, because they know that it will be filled with gifts, surprises, and food that they can share with their family, friends, and loved ones but unfortunately, many orphans and less privileged children around our society do not have and experience all these kind of special birthday celebration.
