*A CALL TO RETURN TO GOD*
In Hosea 6:1, God, through the prophet Hosea, called the Israelites to repentance. Despite their numerous sins for which God punished them, God still showed them love by calling them to repent. Hosea 6:1 says: "Come, let us return to the Lord; He has torn us into pieces, but He will heal us; He has injured us, but He will bind up our wounds. He will revive us; that we may live in His presence." Prophet Hosea also let them understand that the evidence of their repentance would be their pursuit of the knowledge of God. In verse 3, he said: "Let us acknowledge the Lord; let us press on to acknowledge Him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth"
The call of the Israelites to repent from their sins is an indication that God is merciful and does not want any sinner to perish. Though He punishes sin, yet; He loves sinners. Our generation is equally guilty of the sins of idolatry, prostitution, bloodshed, breaking of God's covenant, lack of knowledge of God and the like, which the Israelites were guilty of, and as the Israelites were called to repentance, God is calling every sinner to repentance today. Friend, if you have not received Jesus as your Saviour and Lord, today is your day of salvation. Repent of your sins, and you will receive God's mercy. God is calling you to repentance, and the message He sent to the Israelites through the prophet Hosea He is sending to you too that you should return to Him wholeheartedly, He will receive you. "Come let us return to the Lord. He has torn us into pieces, but He will heal us; He has injured us, but He will bind up our wounds, ... He will revive us...that we may live in His presence " Do not delay your salvation, tomorrow might be too late.
