I just shared how I went from a chemist to a fully booked Social Media Manager… in less than 2 months.

Let me be honest with you — people always think you need years of experience, or a degree in marketing before you can get clients.
Well… I’m living proof that’s not true.

I have a Master’s in Industrial Chemistry.
I knew how to mix chemicals, not content.
But I also knew one thing — I wanted more.

So, I got a digital marketing course.
It was supposed to last 6 months…
But by the first month, I landed my first client.
And by the second month, I landed my first international client.

Did I have years of experience?
No.

Did I have connections?
No.

All I had was a strong will to learn and the courage to start.

Sometimes I still laugh when a client calls me “the best manager ever.”
Like—me? The chemist who used to analyze samples in the lab? 😅

No CRM system. No fancy website. Just genuine connection.

Now I realize — she was doing customer retention marketing without even knowing the term.

The day I learned that storytelling can outperform everything else by 4000%.

Last week’s behind-the-scenes was all about ex*****on brainstorming, creating, posting, and showing up online.

But this week?
We flipped the script. It was analysis week.

Now, let’s talk about something most creators overlook:

content analysis.
We don’t just post content for vibes.

We post, we track, we analyze — and then we plan the next move.

So here’s what went down .....

I opened my Google Drive (aka my second brain ....hehe...

went straight into my “Content Plan” folder, checked last week’s performance, took screenshots of the insights, and sent them to my clients.

And guess what we found?
Our storytelling post outperformed everything else — text did 2.7k% photos 62%, reels 38%.
That was the aha! moment.

So this week’s content strategy?

We’re focusing more on storytelling, especially for one of my clients who’s a nurse in the diaspora.

Because when your content tells real human stories, it connects — and that’s where the magic happens.

The goal isn’t to post more; it’s to post smarter....isn't it? Yeah!!!

Data isn’t just numbers ... it’s a map that shows you where your audience wants to go next.

𝗜 𝗻𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗮 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 — 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗳𝗲𝗮𝗿.

The day I almost said no to a CEO.

A CEO once reached out to me for my services.

Me the girl with a chemistry background, working from home, doing my best to build something of my own.

My first reaction?
Wait… me? Are you sure?

I almost said no.
Not because I didn’t have the skills. Not because I didn’t have results.
But because I felt like a fraud.

That’s when it hit me — this wasn’t imposter syndrome.
It was fear, showing up in a fancy outfit.

A few weeks ago, a client called me, sounding a bit frustrated.

I smiled because… I’ve been there too.

In fact, as a social media manager, I’ve noticed this pattern across almost every business page I’ve handled.

Customers who already know your price will still ask again — not because they can’t read, but because they want to read you.

They’re not testing your prices.

Sometimes, that one “How much?” is really their way of saying:

𝗧𝘄𝗼 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗴𝗼, 𝗜 𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗻’𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲.

I worked from my bed, my kitchen table, the couch, the floor - wherever I could find space.

And let me be honest - working from any available space isn’t bad. Many successful people started there.

𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝗯𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂:
It’s hard to think strategically when your workspace is chaos.

It’s hard to serve clients excellently when you’re constantly distracted.

It’s hard to build something sustainable when you have no structure.

There’s a difference between “𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸” 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴.
And I was just surviving.

𝗧𝘄𝗼 𝗱𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁.
Zero job prospects. People calling me “jobless” to my face.

But something inside me refused to accept that as my reality.

Okay, so… I’ve never actually shown what goes on behind the scenes when I’m working for my clients — until now 😅

This weekend, I said, “Why not?”
Let me take you through what a typical content prep looks like.

From editing videos and creating carousels to designing a flyer for our webinar and scheduling everything for next week — all in one weekend.

And guess what? I even tried Buffer for the first time!
(I usually work with Meta Business Suite, but hey, new tools, new fun 😉).

The best part? When I sent everything off, my client’s reaction literally made my day:

Wow! Wow, Sharon! This is amazing!

I think I’ll be doing this behind-the-scenes thing more often — because honestly, this is what I love doing: helping brands stay consistent while they focus on running their businesses.

𝗜’𝗺 𝘁𝗼𝗼 𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁......

𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗺𝘆𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳.

With my 1st and 2nd degrees I wasn’t even using.

With dreams I quietly packed aside.

With the fear that maybe my time had already passed.

But guess what?
I chose to start anyway.

And today…
I earn from home.
I manage my own time.
I’m building something I can proudly call mine.

And honestly? I’m not more special than anyone else. I just decided to take that first step.

What I’ve learned is this:

📍 Nothing is wasted — even the skills from past experiences prepare you.

📍 Time spent caring for others is not lost — it’s priceless experience.

📍 Feeling “𝒃𝒆𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒅” is just a lie your mind tells you — the truth is, you’re right on time.

Starting doesn’t mean you’re late.
It means you’re ready.

You don’t need to be perfect.

You don’t need to know it all.

You just need to say, “𝑰’𝒍𝒍 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒕 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝑰 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆.”

That decision changed everything for me. And it can for you too.

But here’s the hard truth I had to face some time ago: nothing changes until I do.

For months, I kept saying ‘this month will be different’—but it wasn’t.

Same financial stress, same waiting, same wishing.

What turned things around for me was learning digital skills.

Real ones that could pay my bills, grow my business, and give me options.

That shift made me stop watching others and start building for myself.

𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗖𝗿𝗮𝘇𝘆, 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗲𝘀𝘀 = 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀

When I first started posting online, I honestly thought the secret was to sell, sell, sell.

Every single post of mine had a pitch attached. And guess what?

People tuned out faster than I expected. 😂

It took me learning the hard way to realize—social media doesn’t work like that.

That’s when I stumbled on the 80/20 rule:

📍80% of your posts should give value, teach, or entertain

📍 20% can promote what you’re offering

The shift was wild. Suddenly, people trusted me more.

And the funny part? When I did promote something, they actually wanted to buy.
