I saw a post from a lady sharing her pregnancy test experience, and it prompted me to write mine.
Since the year began, my hormones have been all over the place. I’ve been to the hospital twice, and it’s been one story after another: "You’re stressed," "You need more rest," "Drink more water," "Don’t forget to take your meds," and everything else that follows hospital appointments.
In January, I had a delayed "monthly visit," which landed me in the hospital because December was "detty" to the core! You can imagine my fear when the visitor didn’t show up as expected. But after all was said and done—nothing! You should have seen me celebrating; in this economy, who wouldn't? (I already have three). While I was on medication, it finally started.
In February, there was another delay. After a few days, it burst like a running tap. Of course, I had peace because I knew I hadn’t crossed any boundaries.
And here we are in March. I looked at my calendar and saw I was four days late. I wasn't bothered... but I was bothered. I have my protective measures in place, but that "thing" disappointed me last time and I had baby number three unplanned—so you can understand why I am always conscious of my body and my calendar. I tried to stay relaxed and wasn’t thinking about anything; at one point, I even said if it didn't show up, at least I’d use this month to rest.
Then, boom—cravings. I started craving the unimaginable. I could be talking with you one moment, and the next, I’m dozing off. I started eating unusually, and at this point, I was already suspecting myself. But I hadn't crossed boundaries again... so what if a miracle wanted to take place? You know, "What God cannot do does not exist!" 🤣
When I saw that lady’s post about expecting her visitor and getting strips, I said to myself, "Tonia, you can’t take chances." I went to the nearest pharmacy for strips and headed straight home. I was going to check immediately; I didn't have the patience to wait until morning. If it’s positive, even if it’s just by a day, I will get double lines regardless of the time.
On my way home from the pharmacy, I felt a hot sensation. I waved it off—that wasn't my business right then! 😂 I got to the house and headed straight to the bathroom. Color me shocked when I undressed and saw the "visitor" staring at me in his full glory. 😔
I was happy, but not so happy—the money I used to buy those strips was wasted! I stood there laughing at myself because the fear of pregnancy is truly the beginning of caution and protection. Celebrate with me: the long-awaited visitor is finally here! 🤣🤣😜😜 Who else has been in this shoes before?
Picture below: me and my unused test strips 🤣, if you want to buy I have for sale at least let me recover my money.
