Fellow Nupencizhi, let us utilize this critical time to find solutions for Patigi and Lafiyagi insecurity rather than engaging in a blame game.

The current crisis has caught us off guard, but we must recognize that an injury to one is an injury to all. Instead of pointing fingers, we should work together to end this menace.

A practical approach would be for our Emirs, prominent Nupe figures, and well-to-do individuals to leverage their resources to combat this situation of kidnapping and banditry facing Patigi and Edu which are Nupe Zone of Kwara State.

We must learn from experience that relying solely on government intervention may lead to inaction. Therefore, we should take ownership of this challenge and tackle it collectively, as the community's well-being is our shared responsibility.

Building on my previous suggestion, I propose that all Nupe Emirs convene an emergency summit in Bida, attended exclusively by Nupe Emirs only. During this summit, we should:

1. Observe a three-day fasting period to seek divine guidance and intervention from God.
2. Invite key stakeholders, including Chief Imams, Mayakizhi, Sagizhi, Etsu Cigbezhi, Etsu Egbezhi, Etsu Ndacezhi, and Leluzhi from various Etsuzhi in KinNupe.

Following the fasting period, we should perform rituals to cleanse and protect our community. Meanwhile, Sagizhi, hunters, and vigilantes should be mobilized to confront the criminals.

To ensure the effectiveness of our efforts, I advise all local ritualists to refrain from accepting visitors or sharing sensitive information during this difficult period. Let's focus on resolving this crisis first before returning to our normal lives & activities.

As Tashiru Nupe, Nupe linguist and expert, I offer these suggestions in the hope that they will contribute to our collective efforts to overcome this challenge facing our kingdom.

Note, this battle is not for Patigi or Lafiyagi, it is a battle for Nupe kingdom. May God help us.

*ILLEC RECEIVES AN OFFICIAL LETTER OF ENGAGEMENT FROM FLAILAS.*

Yesterday, Adamu Idris Manarakis received an official letter of engagement from FLAILAS for the study of Nupe & Gbagyi Languages from the management.

The letter which was presented by the Registrar Mallam Saidu Kpako (Dokaji Nupe) noted that all courses in the institution will offer these two indigenous courses; compulsory.

He added that Ezanuwan Kutigi Alhaji Muhammadu Kudu came to congratulate the Provost for the inclusion of mother tongue into FLAILAS noting that *"FLAILAS is the First in the History of Niger State to achieve this dual records."*

Ezanuwan Kutigi also requested from the Provost Dr. Mrs. Amina Usman Kutigi to extend this gesture to FLAILAS Kutigi Centre so that our children will see the importance of learning in our mother tongue.

ALHASSAN ADAM ALHAJI FROM KWARA STATE:- THE FIFTH WINNER OF NUPE LITERATURE PRIZE (NLP), 2024.

Alhassan Adam Alhaji was born and nurture in Sanchitagi, via Tsonga, under Lafiagi, Kwara State, on 15th May 1999 to the blessed family of a great scholar; Imam Zakariyau Alhassan, the Chief Imam of Sancitagi and a vendor, Mallama Aishatu Adam.

The juvenile Alhassan had his fundamental education at Local Government Education Authority Sanchitagi from 2004-2010. He proceeded to Lafiagi Secondary School 2012-2014, where he obtained his junior secondary school certificate. He got transferred to Bata Kinti Community Secondary School Dumagi 2015-2017, for his senior secondary school certificate. He didn’t stop there, he gained Admission to Health school in Sokoto; Sultan Abdulrahman College of Health and Technology Gwadabawa Sokoto State, where he earned a certificate of Dental Surgery Technician in 2021.

During his programs, Alhassan is so passionate about hand work, he proceeded to learn Building service popularly known as bricklayer. He earned it certificate in 2022.

After these certificates, he proceeded to achieve his childhood dream, which is to learn Nupe language. He became a student of ILLEC since from 2022 to date.
He started writing in 2021. He wrote an unpublished Dentistry Made Easy work-book with English for his inferiors.

He started writing in Nupe language from 2022, three months after he joined ILLEC. He wrote published books titled; Advance Basic Science and Technology, and Nupe Picture Dictionary for children. He is also the first in history of Nupe Kingdom to write a Computer Science Book in Nupe cm English.

Apart from these activities, Alhassan also earned a certificate of Graphic Designer and Creative Writing from online class.

Alhassan has traveled to several places in Nigeria, which includes; Niger, Kano, Kaduna, Zaria, Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, and Oyo.
His greatest wishes is to see Nupe language earning her spot among the top three languages in Nigeria, which are Hausa, Yoruba, and Igbo. And then to become a Medical Doctor that will assist the mankind on their health issues.

ILLEC Nupe Language marks eight years today since its' establishment, Congratulations to us.

On 19th November, 2016, Nupe Language began in a Classroom. The journey was like a nightmare. Manarakis intention was to get at least few people to join his four younger sisters to learn Nupe Language. To his surprised, a lot of people came to learn from him from various places. Professor Tswanya the then Vice Chancellor of IBBU Lapai was the first Professor to believe in his dream. He gave him some money to buy teaching materials. He confessed that his prophecy on Nupe Language is already failed. A young man is here to teach Nupe Language with passion. Late Professor Tswanya said in his research work that Nupe Language will join the endangered languages to sweep-off but with this development of literacy, Nupe Language is out of the endangered languages.

In 2017, precisely on 1st October, 2017, the tireless Manarakis met Dr. (Mrs) Aishatu Ndayeko. The Bida princess picked interest in Manarakis artistic work. She gives her candid advice on a daily basis & also backs it up with money. Her full support and advice brought about the start of a Nupe Learning Centre in Bida. She funded the transport fare monthly.

At the same 2017, Manarakis came up with the idea of Online Nupe Newspaper. He published just once and couldn't continue due to his sole deficiency of money. He later reinstated the idea of Nupe Language newspaper. This time, it is a monthly publication online.

In the year 2018, precisely January, Manarakis was invited by the former CPS Alh. Mahmud Abdullahi to come and serve as a Nupe Radio Broadcaster and Presenter in Prestige FM Radio Minna. This is what he does that sent his name to local communities; I mean grassroots or villages in KinNupe despite that he is not a Journalist by profession but a Community influencer by practice. Sha, we are grateful to Prestige FM Radio Minna for availing Manarakis an opportunity to serve as a media man and show his wealth of Nupe Language experiences.

In 2019, Manarakis attended an international Conference of Indigenous Languages at Jos. His attendance was fully sponsored by Mr. Solomon Dakukum who is one of his Facebook followers. That conference at Plateau State, gave birth to establishing an Institute. The Institute was named: Indigenous Languages Learning Centre (ILLEC), Minna. He started from Basic and Proficiency programmes. He knew that he alone can not do it. At its inception those who volunteered to assist in teaching the language could not continue as they were not being paid. “You know, anything that does not come with monetary benefits attached, it takes a brave mind to participate in such a struggle." So, his first set of instructors left a few months after he took off. But he didn’t bother much because we’ve already trained some students who had already mastered the teaching and were ready to give back.” He made some of his serious students teachers to assist him as assistant instructors. As the classroom goes on, so the idea of Teaching Online (WhatsApp Platform) sprouted in. Aisha Hussaina Idris Manarakis is one of the pioneer graduates of the first Nupe e-learning program. In short, today, ILLEC is already running Nupe Language Ordinary Diploma, Advanced Diploma and a Masterclass.

Manarakis is a dreamer. A lover of his faith and a believer of small thing can transform to a big one. It is Manarakis dream that one day Nupe Language will graduate PhD students, by God’s Grace.

The centre introduced a free Nupe learning programme for married women who indicated interest in learning how to write and read in Nupe Language. Books written in indigenous languages were easier to understand when read than those written in English. He challenged Nigerian writers to shift focus to writing in indigenous languages to save local languages from extinction.

In the year 2020, Manarakis approached Niger State College of Education Minna seeking for the approval of Nupe Language. This time is not like other times that he suffered severely and despite his struggles, he failed.

Later in that same year, PSS Minna and UIS Bida approved the study of Nupe Language from JSS One to SS Two. That not all of Manarakis targets. He moved on to seeking for the general approval of Nupe & Gbagyi Languages into our primary schools. This is the idea the incumbent commissioner of Basic Education and NSUBEB Chairman never bought from him.

Instead of discouragement, Manarakis moved on to convince the newly appointment Provost of FLAILAS for the approval of Nupe & Gbagyi Languages, he was successful and the two community languages will commence next semester as General Studies.

Therefore, we are grateful to all our supporters for contributing their quarter to ensure that Nupe Language is taught in our schools at all levels.

May we continue to succeed in the name of God Almighty, Amin!

FLAILAS APPROVES THE STUDIES OF NUPE AND GBAGYI LANGUAGES AS GST STARTING FROM 2024 / 2025 ACADEMIC SESSION.

The Provost of Fati Lami Abubakar Institute for Legal and Administrative Studies (FLAILAS) has approved the study of Nupe and Gbagyi Languages as the courses for immediate Community for all students to promote and preserve the Indigenous Languages which will commence next semester of 2024/2025 Academic Session.

The Provost Dr. (Mrs) Amina Usman Kutigi said "the decision made by FLAILAS management is in line with the federal government's approval of mother tongue as a compulsory language in primary schools across the country."

Dr. Amina added that "the courses would be an opportunity for both speakers of the languages and the non-speaker's students to enhance free-flow of basic knowledge & communication skills among their peers in the institution.

In the letter signed by the Registrar Alh. Kpako Saidu (Dokaji Nupe) stated that, Nupe & Gbagyi Languages are long overdue to be studied in all Tertiary Institutions across Niger State as the languages are the major ethnicity group of the host state which FLAILAS took a bold step to pioneer this GST studies hoping to see that other institutions in Niger State including Private, Primary & Secondary Schools should follow the suit in preserving our culture.

However, the Director of ILLEC Adamu Idris Manarakis Tashiru Nupe while appreciating the management for her decision to commence the study of Nupe & Gbagyi Languages as GST in the first semester of 2024/2025 Academic Session stated that "the Management of FLAILAS took a decision that almost made the community language developers to loose hope
and confidence in their abandoned request since six years ago."

He added that "this decision came at the varge of give-up period due to the lackadaisical structure of the past administration."

Manarakis while appreciating Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago for his resilience and interest in the studies of our Indigenous Languages, he call on the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education and the Chairman of NSUBEB of Niger State to as a matter of urgency includes Nupe & Gbagyi Languages in the state Primary and Secondary Schools. He also call on the NECO Registrar who is a child of the host community to use any means available to him to consider these Languages in her examination before exiting the office which will be a strong legacy for him.

MANARAKIS SECURES APPOINTMENT WITH VOICE OF AFRICA ON Recorder/TRANSCRIBER

The Director Indegineous Language Learning Center, ILLEC Adamu Idris Manarakis has being selected as a Voice Africa Nupe language recorder, transcriber, and validator!

He was selected because of his contribution to the preservation and promotion of the Nupe language in West Africa and the World at large..

Adamu Idris Manarakis' familiarity with Nupe Language development in Nigeria is accounting to his international recognition.

Idris Manarakis fluency in the Nupe Language spoken words is very marvelous and after a thorough investigation and screening exercise he was selected by the Voice Africa to serve as one of the Nupe Language professional Voice Recorders, Transcribers and Validators.

In his efforts, Manarakis established Nupe Language School where the Language and culture can be practiced to avoid any form of hindrance to the language that will lead it for extinction.
