Allegation Against Uzodimma: Ngor Okpala APC in Disarray as Members Shun Kangaroo Reception of New Entrants By Embattled Legislative Leader
It's now a classical case of one day one flop for the embattled councillor of Obiangwu/Ezemba Ward 10, and Leader of Ngor Okpala Legislative Council, Hon Chibuike Agbugba, as his purported kangaroo reception of new members into the APC yesterday reportedly failed woefully,as officials, stakeholders, leaders and members of the party in his ward and LGA stayed away from the event.
According to grapevine sources the rank and file of the party in his Obiangwu/Ezemba Ward,and Ngor Okpala as a whole shunned the purported reception in protest against his alleged throwing of the party into disarray in his ward and LGA. He reportedly threw the party in the area into confusion with his recent allegation that Gov Hope Uzodimma told him and his colleagues from the other twenty seven local governments of the state in confidence that he has reserved 2027 Owerri Zone Senate ticket for Prince Alex Mbata from Owerri North LGA. That claim is being perceived in Ngor Okpala APC and the LGA generally as gross betrayal of trust as it amounted to open repudiation of the growing aspiration of the council to represent Owerri Zone in the Senate in 2027.
Yesterday's allegedly flopped reception of decampees was, therefore another effort in a long line of efforts so far made by the embattled lawmaker, to redeem his image that's been badly battered and bruised in the wake of that statement.
Since throwing APC in Obiangwu/Ezemba Ward, and Ngor Okpala into disarray the lawmaker has faced unprecedented criticism and condemnation, and is on brink of becoming a political pariah in both his Obiangwu/Ezemba Ward, and Ngor okpala LGA as a whole.
To stave off his imminent descent into political oblivion, he has being running from pillar to post,trying to organize one face saving political event or another, in an attempt reduce the overwhelming backlash that has trailed that monumental gaffe, with the intention of redeeming his seriously dented image.
Just this last Monday he called Councillors from the LGA to a meeting at a hotel at Umuowa Junction, Along Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Road, and begged them to pass a vote of confidence on him, but that effort flopped miserably, as the councillors not only declined, but also walked out on him.
This yesterday, Tuesday,June 24, 2025, hurried reception of a few purported decampees into the party, who were said to have been imported from his wife's village,was yet another of the series of failed attempts he has so far made redeem himself,sadly it crashed like those before it.
According to sources within the ward being a party function,the event was supposed to have been graced by stakeholders, leaders and members of APC in the ward. But no single leader or stakeholder of the party attended the event. The number one member of the party in his ward, the Ward Chairman was absent,so also the Government Liason Officer, GLO, and down to other party executive and members in his ward. He never informed them and they didn't attend.
Also, no notable leader or stakeholder of the party in the whole of Ngor Okpala graced the event, including his fellow councillors and the Executive Chairperson of the LGA. Also, when the Imo APC Chairman Hon Macdonald Ebere, PhD, who he claimed gave the go ahead to the event was contacted, he denied authorizing the event.
