Bishop Malau was accompanied by a delegation that included his Secretary, Rev. Namdon Jaule; Dean of Lamurde Division, Dean Rev. Mathias Zacharia; and Mission Director, Rev. Joel Yotti. At the burial service, he offered prayers for the bereaved families and implored Almighty God to grant them strength in their sorrow. He called on all parties involved to forgive and pursue peaceful coexistence, emphasizing the teachings of Christ on love and unity.

“We mourn with those who mourn, and we pray for the restoration of all that has been lost,” Bishop Malau said. “May the God of all comfort visit every heart, every home, and every hurting soul in these communities.”

*Confession and Forgiveness in the Lutheran Tradition: A Call to Authenticity*

As Lutherans, we gather every Sunday morning to confess our sins, reciting the words: *"We have not loved our neighbors as ourselves."* But do we utter these words out of habit or from the depths of our hearts? Are we genuinely reflecting on our actions and seeking forgiveness, or have we reduced this sacred ritual to mere tradition?

*The Lutheran Confession*
In our worship services, we confess:
*"We have not loved You with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We have not forgiven others as You have forgiven us."*

These words echo the teachings of Jesus, emphasizing the importance of loving God and our neighbors (Matthew 22:37-40). Yet, do we truly comprehend the weight of our confession?

*Christ's Example*
Jesus, amidst hatred and persecution, prayed: *"Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing"* (Luke 23:34). His words demonstrate the essence of Christian love, unconditional forgiveness and compassion. As His followers, we are called to emulate this example.

*Authenticity in Confession*
To revitalize our confession, let us:
1. Reflect on our actions and their impact on others.
2. Acknowledge the hurt we may have caused.
3. Seek genuine forgiveness from God and our neighbors.
4. Cultivate empathy and understanding.
5. Strive to love others as Christ loves us.

*From Tradition to Transformation*
Let us move beyond mere recitation and embrace the transformative power of confession. May our words be infused with sincerity, humility, and a deep desire for reconciliation.

*Conclusion*
As Lutherans, our weekly confession serves as a poignant reminder of our fallibility and Christ's redemptive love. May we rediscover the authenticity of our confession, allowing it to shape our lives and relationships. By embracing forgiveness and love, we become beacons of Christ's light in a world torn apart by hatred, envy, and jealousy.
