ALWAYS DO THE NEEDFUL
"Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God."
1 John 3:21.
When we wilfully do wrong, we experience anxiety, stress, and insecurity. ‘“There is no peace,” says the Lord, “for the wicked”’ (Isaiah 48:22 NKJV). Whenever we choose a plan of action incompatible with what we believe to be right, we forfeit our peace of mind.
For instance, if a person accepts a job or duty that forces him to do something against his spiritual convictions, something that violates his conscience.
Many of us have faced the predicament of compromising our values so as to get a promotion or attain other advantages. At the time, it looked like the only option. ‘There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.’ (Proverbs 16:25 NKJV). This is when a strong spiritual foundation is essential. It takes faith and bravery to let our convictions direct our behaviours and our choices. The truth is that God is ultimately responsible for our advancement and promotion. His Word says, ‘For exaltation comes neither from the east nor from the west nor from the south. But God is the Judge: He puts down one, and exalts another.’ (Psalm 75:6-7 NKJV). This simply means that it is not solely within our powers to do the right. Sometimes the temptation to manipulate or lie so that we can advance our careers is just too much to withstand. That is when and why we need to draw on God’s strength. David said, ‘The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?’ (Psalm 27:1 NKJV).
PRAYER:
Oh! Mighty Father, kindly keep us free from falling into any temptation that is beyond us, deliver us from the Evil One. Help us to always do what is right in your sight in Jesus Name Amen.
