Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Admin.) University of Jos is rumoured to soon be appointed as the INEC Chairman replacing Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, whose tenure ends on September 30, 2025.

Prof. Amupitan is a native of Ijumu LGA of Kogi State. He was the former Head of Department, Public Law, and Dean Faculty of Law at the University of Jos. His M.Sc. and Ph.D. was awarded from UniJos in 1993 and 2007, respectively. He was confered with the pretigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (S.A.N.) in 2014.

Check Your Status The portal will display your status, indicating whether you've been shortlisted or not.

Required Documents Keep the following documents ready for the screening process

Nigeria has just shared its biggest revenue ever! The Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) disbursed a massive ₦2.225 trillion for August 2025. This is the second month in a row the money shared has crossed the ₦2 trillion mark, showing a big rise in government earnings under Tinubu’s era.

The money came mainly from oil and gas royalties, Value Added Tax (VAT), customs levies, and electronic money transfer charges. Out of the ₦2.225 trillion shared, about ₦1.478 trillion came from statutory revenue, ₦672.9 billion from VAT, ₦32.3 billion from money transfer levy, and ₦41.2 billion from exchange difference.

Here’s how it was shared: from statutory revenue, the Federal Government got ₦684.46 billion, states got ₦347.16 billion, local governments got ₦267.65 billion, while ₦179.31 billion was given to oil-producing states. From VAT, the Federal Government received ₦100.93 billion, states got ₦336.45 billion, and local governments ₦235.51 billion.

From the Electronic Money Transfer Levy of ₦32.3 billion, the Federal Government received ₦4.85 billion, states ₦16.17 billion, and local governments ₦11.31 billion. Also, from the ₦41.2 billion exchange difference, the Federal Government got ₦19.79 billion, states ₦10.04 billion, local governments ₦7.74 billion, and ₦3.7 billion went again to oil-producing states.
