"Iniubong Umoren Was Not a Victim of Organ Harvesting"
– Sister Refutes Viral Allegations

By Solomon OKPO | May 11, 2025.

UYO, The eldest sister of the late Iniubong Umoren, Ifiok Ephraim Umoren, has firmly debunked circulating claims alleging that her sister's organs were harvested following her brutal murder in April 2021.

Speaking during a press briefing in Uyo, Ifiok described the allegation as "outrageous" and "deeply hurtful," emphasizing that she personally witnessed the autopsy, during which all internal organs were confirmed intact.

Iniubong Umoren, a 26-year-old Philosophy graduate of the University of Uyo, was murdered on April 29, 2021, by UduakAbasi Frank Akpan under the guise of a job interview. Akpan, who was later convicted for r**e and murder, was sentenced to death by the Akwa Ibom State High Court on August 4, 2022.

The press briefing was convened in response to recent claims by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan in a viral audio-visual conversation with US-based activist Dr. Sandra C. Duru, in which she alleged that Nigeria's Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, was involved in harvesting Iniubong's organs to save his wife.

Flanked by the Akwa Ibom Director of Public Prosecution, Mr. Friday Johnson Itim, and Mr. Samuel Abdullah of the Legal Aid Council, Ifiok expressed disbelief and emotional distress over the allegation. “How can someone claim that my sister’s organs were harvested when I was right there during the autopsy?” she queried. “This accusation is not only false but dishonours the memory of my sister and retraumatizes our family.”

She narrated how her sister had informed her of a job interview before her disappearance and how she played a critical role in identifying the suspect and aiding police investigations. “After her death, the police took the body for autopsy at the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital. I was present. No organ was missing,” she said.

Supporting her statement, Mr. Itim described the crime as a solitary act committed by UduakAbasi, who attacked Iniubong after she refused to have unprotected s*x. “He killed her in anger, buried her in a shallow grave, and fled. His arrest was facilitated by his family and the local government chairman,” Itim said.

Mr. Abdullah added that the allegation of organ harvesting had no basis in court proceedings. “Neither prosecution nor defense ever mentioned Senator Akpabio in connection with the case. The certified autopsy report is publicly accessible and confirms that all internal organs were intact.”

The pathologist, Dr. Emeka Nwafor, who conducted the postmortem, also testified under oath in court in 2021 that while the body showed signs of decomposition and trauma, there was no evidence of organ removal.

Legal experts and family members are now considering legal redress against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan for spreading what they call “defamatory and destabilizing misinformation.”

The Sanctimonious Circus of Arise TV

Every morning, Arise TV’s Morning Show presents itself as a current affairs program, but don’t be fooled – it is, in practice, a tribunal disguised as television. Its hosts, a self-anointed panel of moral magistrates, wield their microphones like judicial gavels, operating under the quaint delusion that they alone guard the gates of Nigerian democracy. To appear before them is not to be interviewed but to be arraigned, with all the charm of a customs inspection and the warmth of an FIRS audit.

Their technique – if one can dignify it with such a term – seems to owe more to the methods of a traffic cop than a trained journalist. They approach their guests as if armed with the notes from a 1950s customary court manual, each question a blunt instrument swung with the subtlety of a masquerade.

But blame them not because they did not spend their formative years in journalism schools, but in Thearter Arts, Animal Science, etc. They have never done a semester in communication. However, Since man is said in some quarters to be an animal, the animal scientist figures he came eqipped to deal with all animals (homo sapiens). More so, they appear to be familiar with the training method for highway policemen andy bark questions with the finesse of a sergeant drilling raw recruits. Of course every rule has an exception.

Consider their handling of the Natasha affair, in which they fawned over her with the unblinking devotion of children circling a Christmas pudding. One of them, with the breathless conviction of a Jambite philosophy student, proclaimed, “This is about seat, and Rosa Parks was about seat too.” It was the kind of false equivalence that makes a rational mind wince – a reminder that history, like fire, should only be handled by those who understand its dangers. Rosa Parks refused to stand up; Natasha refused to sit down. One defied a bus driver’s demand, the other swore an oath of compliance before flouting it. The difference is as stark as the gap between a protest and a tantrum. But do they care? Do they know?

And then there is their chief provocateur, a man who has adopted the phrase “I put it to you” as his verbal prod. He slings it with the casual menace of a bailiff barking in a debtor’s prison. To Jesutega Onokpasa, he thundered, “I put it to you that you came here to misrepresent the facts,” as if he were reading the charges in a village juju court. Permit me to put it to him that “I put it to you” has no place in a press interview. It belongs in police stations and courtrooms.

Their approach to biography is no less ham-fisted. In one memorable exchange, a host declared to a bewildered guest, “I don’t know what you do… I don’t know your background, whether it’s carpentry or something else.” So if you did not know before the interview, why didn’t you find out? Because they do not prepare for interviews in order not to risk the inconvenience of encountering facts that might complicate their preferred narratives.

In this high-stakes game of intellectual hubris, professionalism is but a forgotten relic, a dusty artifact left behind in journalism’s abandoned temples. For the hosts of Arise TV’s Morning Show, every guest is a suspect, every question an accusation, and every broadcast a small tribunal, convened without warning and adjourned without remorse. Except you are Natasha, and they graciuosly give you an “Evidence free” card and a pat on the back.

“ *Evidence or Exit* ”: *Ex-NAPAC Texas Chair Slams Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Over Series of Unsubstantiated Allegations*

Houston, Texas – May 3, 2025

Engr Ike Chidolue, the immediate past Texas State Chairman of the Nigerian-American Public Affairs Committee (NAPAC Texas), has issued a sharp public statement calling on Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to either present evidence backing her many sensational allegations or resign from the Nigerian Senate.

Chidolue’s remarks come in response to the Senator’s recent Facebook post, in which she dismissed a viral May 1 Facebook Live broadcast by Dr. Sandra Duru (also known as Prof. Mgbeke) as “manipulated” and “politically motivated.” The broadcast featured audio recordings and screenshots that appear to contradict Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s public denials on several matters.

“Her post offered no facts, no forensics, and certainly no credibility,” Chidolue said. “What it does offer, unfortunately, is a continuation of a now familiar pattern: sensational allegations, quickly recycled into conspiracy claims once confronted with inconvenient evidence.”

According to Chidolue, if the materials presented by Dr. Duru are authentic, they paint a troubling picture of a public official weaponizing unproven accusations for political mileage, then pivoting to deflection as soon as her narrative begins to unravel.

He outlined the long list of claims made by Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan—none of which, he said, have been backed by verifiable evidence. These include:

● Accusations of s*xual harassment by Senate President Godswill Akpabio;

● Claims that former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello was contracted to assassinate her;

● Allegations that the Akpabios were involved in the 2021 death of a minor;

● Assertions that her reassignment on the Senate floor was punishment for rejecting advances;

● Complaints that her bills and motions were deliberately blocked;

● And claims that she was denied travel approvals, forcing her to self-fund statutory assignments.

“Not one of these claims has been substantiated by a police report, sworn affidavit, Senate resolution, or authenticated document,” Chidolue emphasized. “And when confronted with contradictory evidence, the Senator’s response has been predictable—attack the source, dismiss the proof, and shift the goalposts.”

He called for a four-step course of action to restore credibility:

1. Authenticate or refute Dr. Duru’s recordings through an independent forensic lab—publicly.

2. Present evidence to back every claim—police reports, court filings, Senate records.

3. Seek legal redress if defamed—Nigeria has courts, not just cameras.

4. Failing all else, tender a public apology and vacate the Senate seat.

“Let it be said plainly—Nigeria’s public institutions are not theatres for trial-by-sentiment,” Chidolue stated. “When elected leaders make explosive claims, they owe the public facts, not theatrics. Nigerians deserve better than conjecture and drama. The time for storytelling has expired. The burden is now hers—evidence or exit.”
