PRESIDENT BUHARI FELICITATES WITH MINISTER OF STATE, PETROLEUM, CHIEF TMIPRE SYLVA, ON TURBANNING AS SARKIN KUDUN HAUSA

President Muhammadu Buhari congratulates the Minister of State, Petroleum, Chief Timipre Sylva, on his turbaning by the Daura Emirate Council with the traditional title of “Sarkin Kudun Hausa’’.

The President felicitates with the Minister as he receives the honour bestowed by the Emir of Daura, His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr) Umar Farouk Umar, in recognition of his versatile and cross-cultural experiences, schooling, working and sharing wisdom in various parts of the country, and the world.

President Buhari believes Sylva’s acceptance of the title further highlights the need for religious and cultural tolerance, understanding and networking to sustain the unity of the country, drawing lessons from shared humanity.

The President appreciates the Daura Emirate Council for their support for his administration.

President Buhari prays for the well-being of the Minister and his family.

ORUBEBE QUITS PDP, CITES PARTY'S CONSTITUTIONAL BREACH AND MALTREATMENT OF GOV WIKE

All is not well within the PDP fold occasioned by the fallout of the just concluded presidential primary.

A major dramatis personea in the 2015 general election Chief Loveday Peter ORUBEBE has called it quit with the party, citing breach of party's constitution and unfair treatment of the Rivers state governor Nyesom Wike.

Orubebe who was a one time minister of Niger delta Affairs in a letter to PDP national chairman Iyoacia Ayu stated that the party renaged on the constitution of the party which states that power should be shared between the north and the south.

While praising Gov Wike for his gallantry, the former minister added that posterity will be kind to the Rivers state governor.

It's not yet clear which party the Burutu Delta born politician will pitch his tent, however, there are indications that he has struck a deal with the deputy senate president Ovie Omo Agege who is gunning for the governorship of Delta state under the All progressive Congress (APC)

FG APPROVES 11bn FOR CONSTRUCTION OF BRIDGES & ACCESS ROADS TO BRASS LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND 3.8bn FOR SWITCH-GEAR ROOM FOR OIL & GAS PARK IN BAYELSA STATE

The minister disclosed this to State House Correspondents shortly after the over three-hour FEC meeting presided over by the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

According to the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and former Presidential aspirant of the APC, Timipre Sylva, the council approved N3.81bn for a switch-gear room for the Nigerian Oil and Gas Park in Bayelsa State for the local manufacture of components.

It will be recalled that in February 2022, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, Simbi Wabote, said the Nigerian Oil and Gas Park will be completed in the fourth quarter of 2022.

Sylva also revealed that the Council approved N11bn for the construction of access roads and bridges to Brass local government area of Bayelsa State.

He also noted that consultations have begun for the Nigeria National Petroleum Company to execute a Memorandum of Understanding with the Economic Community of West African States to construct the Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline.

The Pipeline would be the world’s longest offshore pipeline and second-largest pipeline in the world carrying gas from Nigeria to Morocco and running through at least 11 West African countries, to Spain in Europe.

AKAN UDOFIA PAYS AKPABIO "THANK YOU VISIT."

The APC Governorship Flag-bearer, Obong Akanimoh Udofia (OAU) paid a "thank you visit" to the former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, leader of the party in the state and Presidential Aspirant of APC, H. E. Sen. Dr. Godswill Obot Akpabio immediately, hours after he won the Akwa Ibom State APC Governorship Nomination.

OAU as he is popularly known, defected from the PDP a few weeks ago and picked the party's ticket. He defeated the likes of Ita Enang, Udoegehe and others in the primary conducted yesterday in Uyo.

EFCC Arrests Ex-NDDC MD Nsima Ekere Over Alleged N47bn Fraud

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday, arrested the former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Nsima Ekere for alleged diversion of funds to the tune of N47 billion through registered contractors of the agency.

This is according to the Commission’s spokesperson, Wilson Uwajaren.
The former MD is currently been grilled at the commission's office in Abuja

FOREMOST IJAW LEADER, E.K CLARK ENDORSES SYLVA FOR PRESIDENT.

The presidential aspiration of the Minister for state, petroleum Chief Timipre Sylva today recieved a boost as the foremost IJAW leader Chief Edwin Clark gave his nod.

Chief Clark made this assertion when the presidential team led by the Minister visited him in his home town.
Chief Clark said Sylva has the requisite experience to provide leadership if given the opportunity.
His words: "He did well as governor of Bayelsa and he also doing well in his current assignment as minister and I believe if he is given the chance to serve the country he will excel".
Recall that the Minister had declined making any categorical statement when the marmoth crowd gathered outside his office in Abuja to present the form to him promising to first consult prominent IJAW leaders like Chief Clark before making any statement.

With this endorsement, the coast seem clear for Sylva to proceed further to consult would be delegates. According to unconfirmed report, Mr Sylva is likely to make a formal declaration in Yenagoa the Bayelsa state capital anytime soon.

EAST- WEST ROAD SET FOR COMPLETION AS FASHOLA'S WORKS MINISTRY TAKES OVER.
..Akpabio says work is 80 percent complete.

Minister, Niger Delta Affairs Ministry, Senator Godswill Akpabio, on Wednesday formally handed over the East-West Road, Sections 1-4 to the Minister of Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola SAN, declaring to that he was happy to handover the road project at over 80 Percent completion level.

The handing over ceremony which took place at the Minister's Conference Room, Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, Abuja, was witnessed by key ministry officials from both ministries, which include, the Minister of State, Works and Housing, Muazu Jaji Sambo, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs and his Works counterpart, Dr Ardo Babayo and Engineer Chukwunwike Uzor, respectively, as well as the Chief of Staff to the Niger Delta Minister, Sir Etekamba Umoren among others.

A statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Jackson Udom, quoted the Minister as saying, " it is with great pleasure to us today in the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, to handover the Section 1-4 of the East West Road to the Works and Housing Ministry as demanded by the people of Ogoni. I can say that we are handing over this project at over 80 Percent completion level."

Recall the elders and people from the Ogoni extraction had pleaded with the president to instruct the Minister of works to take over that section of the road due to poor handling by Niger delta ministry

" The people of the region can now travel from Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital to Yenogoa, within minutes and that was not the case before we came into office.

" There were impediments on the road which were not in the original plan. There was therefore, the need to extend the road with a 6 lane layout, hence the issue of compensation arose and we mobilised funds to pay the owners of lands and property on the right of way," he added.

The former Minority Leader of the Senate, stated further that though the road project has been handed over to the Ministry of Works and Housing, relevant staff of the Niger Delta Ministry would be available to render their support and share experiences with their counterparts in the Works ministry concerning the road, saying," Our field officers in the Ministry are available for any assistance and information as it concerns the road. We will continue to work together to ensure that the East West Road is completed and commissioned by President Muhamadu Buhari".

"We are also handing-over the N10.4bn Sukuk Cheque that was given to our Ministry by the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning for the East-West Road to the Ministry of Works and Housing for the commencement of work and not for payment of old debts," Akpabio stated.

In his brief remarks, the Works and Housing Minister, Babatunde Fashola, described the handing over as uncommon, saying," this an uncommon handover from an uncommon Minister. We have just received the handing over documents. I will undertake actual verification and assessment of what is on ground."

The former Lagos State helmsman, however, sounded a note of warning to the people of Niger Delta that work on the road will not progress in the absence of peace and cooperation. He also promised that work would commence, as soon as it is practicable to do so, saying, "we will start work as soon as it is practicable to do so. One condition is that, for any project to take place, there is the need for communal peace. Without peace we will not do any work there. We need collaboration and sacrifice for us to do what we are supposed to do."

It was a beehive of activities at the victor Attah international airport as supporters of a Frontline governorship hopeful caused vehicular and human traffick at the airport.

We gathered that Obong Akan UDOFIA was due in the state today to commence his consultation after a successful consultations with some top politician in Abuja.

Our correspondent spoke with a few of them who expressed optimism that Akan UDOFIA will pick that gubernatorial ticket and eventually win the 2023 election
