Emmanuella Omonigho Hi, my life goal is to tell stories that people can relate to and enjoy. This is my journey.

Why should you read STARS IN A BEAUTIFUL NIGHT? Because there's Kiishi.

Also because it is finally available for order in Nigeria.

I admit that for sometime I've evaded talking particularly about this book. One, imposter syndrome which I'm yet to beat. Two, I haven't seen my copies because of some particular shipping issues that I can't seem to understand.

But now there's good news, if you're in Nigeria you can order and have your copy of this goodness, of Kiishis goodness because almost everyone can't seem to not love Kiishi.

SUMMARY OF STARS IN A BEAUTIFUL NIGHT

Starry night and same goal bring Kiishi and Fumnanya—the former struggling with loss and the latter with sexual harassment and abuse—together in the waters of their school Lagoon.

But things go differently when Kiishi irritates Fumnanya out of drowning herself. Seeing her gives him a new purpose, which saves him from his decision. Fate makes them meet on campus another day and this is the beginning of their adventure.

Fumnanya joins the young celebrity on his nightly journey around Lagos and slowly opens up to him about her home and life, growing closer to him in the process. He helps her with her abusive stepfather but Kiishi locks up his own pain.

Due to excessive drug use, he ends up in the hospital but flees one night and finds himself back at the Lagoon, this time with no one to distract him from everything he thought.

worse place for me to write is on my bed. I quickly realized that after I succumbed to sleep minutes into writing, many many times. thats when I graduated to sitting on the floor to write, ended up hurting my neck and giving up.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
my makeshift workplace was created with empty cartons and a curtain. I stacked them together unto the wall. its very fragile, but at least I can type away for hours without sleeping off.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I'm not saying you should do exactly this, just find something and make sure its to your eye level, we don't want our head to roll off our necks ;)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
do you have a workspace? would you be creating one?
let me know in the comment.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
stay safe and let's get creative

like African Parents say; the people who achieve these, do they have two heads?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
one thing I know is, as long as you can think it and imagine it (and if you're like me; see movies about your writing and bestseller title) then you can write it, Panster or not.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Did you know about these authors?

btw, you should definitely read O.C Mannies books, link in bio or simply google.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
remember a book starts with a single word ;)

i've always had issues with writing and making it something really worth reading with all the emotions and actions of the character. i always wanted to be that author that made readers cry or laugh or yell at a character.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
but it was either, this plot hole or that flat main character or just something off putting that would make me give up. Homegirl was always fast to give up.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
but i've learnt, scrath that--i'm still learning about me and my writing. and i know you are somewhat like me. abandoning work in progress and making another just because you cannot seem to know what to write it. you know the beginning, middle and even ending but the others? well, its all so hard right?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
and then you have people telling you 'plot your stories' but you just can't seem to know what to do, plus its tiring.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
thats my boat, you're welcome to join as we sail the waves.i'm nervous really, or maybe i'm sea sick (lol).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
have you figured out what kind of writer you are?

i was discussing with someone who kind of thought it rude that females don't like to tell their age.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
the words above was written long before that but I sent a screenshot of my female MCs reply to the male (who thinks it makes no sense for females to hide their ages).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
the discussion still ended up being what my characters talked about and the main reason highlighted is: women are taught to care about what everyone thinks of them. thats why they don't tell their age.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
its not a delibrate action, its just something that we've grown into. society or people always have something to say no matter what and we're pulled to trying to please them.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
so, to the males who get offended, you have to understand this and approach with care, because it is a sensitive and touchy aspect of a lady.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
she can choose not to tell you, but when she does, don't make fun of the information--whether consciously or unconsciously, that moment or later in life.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
read all of the conversations in the book. link in my bio.

one word a day?
what?
how are you celerating that?

thats the next possible reaction anyone would give. people are celebrating being able to write a thousand words a day and here I am, celebrating one word a day.

but don't forget its not about the word count, its about the consistency. if anything i've learnt from the great Eboseremen ( ) it is that consistency is key.
the effort may seem little, but drops of water makes an ocean (its really true---off discussion: the head of my tap here got bad one time and we didn't know. woke up the next morning to meet an empty thank and a flooded floor)
what I tell myself as I write the one word is I'm a word away from the last goal and one word into achieveing my next.

therefore to you writer and every creative, don't beat yourself up for the seemingly tiny effort you're making. instead, celebrate.

ps: i'll be drinking soda in my house to celebrate. you're more than welcome to join ;-) remember to stay safe and sane.
also, read the book that has the one word consitency, link in my bio. .

writing this, i thought of several ways to keep my character as the good guy and all the time I thought; does this action justify any of the things she's doing?

yeah, it was a battle. even while she battled the thought of being a monster, I battled the thought of making her one.
