ENFORCEMENT OF COMPLIANCE WITH CENTRAL BANK OF NIGERIA DIRECTIVE ON REGISTRATION BEFORE ONBOARDING

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has instructed banks to ensure registration of their customers in the agent banking platform on or before July 7, 2024.

In a letter to all affected banks, the Registrar-General/CEO, CAC Hussaini Ishaq Magaji, SAN, said the instruction is in line with Section 863(1) of CAMA and the CBN guidelines for Agent Banking, 2013.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) had earlier, through a memo issued on April 30, 2024, directed all non-individuals on the Agent Banking Authorization to immediately take steps to register their businesses with the CAC in line with Section 863 of the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020.

The directive made it mandatory for Point of Sale (PoS) terminals whether as AGENT, MERCHANT or INDIVIDUAL to register with CAC before commencement of business.

The Registrar-General therefore enjoined the banks to ensure maximum compliance with the requirement.

This means that the Federal Government has given an express directive to mobile money otherwise known as Point of Sale (PoS)' operators to get registered with the Corporate Affair Commission, CAC, or risk arrests and prosecution. They should comply with the directive before the 7th July, 2024 deadline.

Davido and Chioma lose their 3 year old son, Ifeanyi

Ifeanyi died by drowning at his Davido's Banana Island home. He was rushed to Evercare Hospital in Lekki where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Davido and Chioma had traveled for a family gathering to Ibadan yesterday and had left Ifeanyi with his minders who can't explain how he entered the pool without being noticed and drowned.

A distraught and inconsolable Davido was removed from Evercare Hospital and taken to his father's house where he remains as at press time.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has announced that effective 31 January 2023, the existing N100, N200, N500 and N1000 currencies in circulation shall cease to be legal tenders accepted in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. In it's place, a new currency will go into circulation from 15 December 2022.

What this means, starting immediately, you should deposit your naira cash holdings in the affected denominations, at your bank between now and 31 January 2023.

Please note:
Cash depositors’ detail must be fully KYC complaint with BVN.
Cash deposit charges into naira accounts will be suspended from now until 31 January 2023.

Things are happening!!
This is what happened in my area mararaba the day before yesterday.
This woman dropped her daughter with a neighbor for her to buy something from the market, her only child after six years of marriage. 8 month’s child only for her to come and started asking for the child since the neighbor’s 3 children were playing in the compound, she couldn’t find the child and the neighbor as well.
Then she asked were is Ella and one of the neighbor’s child told her my mummy put Ella inside well (deep well of water in the compound) she looks inside the well and her daughter dead body was floating, that’s is how this woman picked the 3 children one after the order and dropped inside the well.
She went straight to police station to report herself.
Though the two neighbors have issues from the past.
