Governor AbdulRahman Abdulrazaq's Impacts in Ilorin East

In the last seven years, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has executed impactful projects across 16 local government areas of Kwara State. His administration has executed projects and programmes to address challenges facing different communities in order to improve the wellbeing of Kwarans, irrespective of their location, tribe and creed.

Ilorin East local government in Kwara Central Senatorial district is not left out as the APC administration delivered projects across wards. People in the urban and rural communities are enjoying dividends of democracy.

From education to road construction to health and other sectors, Ilorin East is having a good time under Governor AbdulRazaq. The people-friendly leader commenced his Developmental drive with the completion of abandoned projects inside Kwara State Polytechnic fully air-conditioned Kwara State Polytechnic auditorium and students' hotel initiated by the late former Governor Muhammed Lawal.

Moving forward, His Excellency constructed Classrooms, Examination Halls, Laboratories, ICT Centres, Offices, furnitures and boreholes in schools. Benefiting schools include St Anthony School, Abata Gambari School, Government Day Model School, GSS Karuma, Olokuta Senior Secondary School, C&S College, Ilorin, Kwara State School for Special Needs and LGSS Banni.

Others are Police Children School, Government Secondary School, Budo Are, Baboko Secondary School,
Okelele Secondary School, Government Day School, Community Grammar School, Army Day Secondary School and GSS Ilorin.

The Governor also embarked on massive road construction/rehabilitation to ease mobility and upgrade infrastructures in the capital city. Road construction by the current administration covers Aduamigba Community, Ciroma. Close, Yoruba road, Oloje road, Oke Andi-Obafemi-Toaheed road, Babasoja Street-Sohuibula road, Basin-Taoheed-Tanke road, Babatunde Kasun road, Amilegba-Ipata-Gambari road, Ahmadu Bello Way -Waterview, Okelele-Jagun/Sobi Specialist Hospital and Ansarul Islam Oloje Estate road.

The massive road construction criss-cross Emir's road, Adabata road, Oke-oyi township road, Mayowa Gboyinde, Owanire road, Ode Akaaba Access road, Ganiki-Kulende and Mobile Police road.

In alignment with the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6 of ensuring access to clean water and sanitation for all, Governor AbdulRazaq extended water supply to more communities in Ilorin East. Through his efforts, thousands of households in Oke-Agoo, Royal Estate and Kwara State School for the Special Needs area now have access to clean and portable water without stress.

AA administration rehabilitated Sobi Water works and refurbished water tanks in Agbabiaka, Amule-Olomoo, and Abata-Asuru. Kwara State Government also drilled motorised boreholes in many communities including Koro Afoju, Oloyin Community, E-division, Adu, Abiowa, Abayawo and Isale-koko while solar powered boreholes were installed at Tetengi Adabata, Dagbenu, Ilu Fata, Ilu Apata and Ila-Oja Communities. His administration repaired boreholes neglected by previous administration and Hand pumps in some remote communities.

It's noteworthy that the current administration led by Governor AbdulRahman made significant impact in rural electrification, health, agriculture, youth development and women empowerment.

The Governor who is the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senatorial Candidate for Kwara Central has kept his pact with Kwarans. He is the rightman to represent Kwara Central in the 11th National Assembly. Let's rally round him to do more for the Ilorin Emirate.

Ajakaye Promises Constituents Impactful Projects, Better Life

Dr. Rafiu Ajakaye, the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives Candidate for Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency has promised to facilitate impactful projects that would address challenges facing communities and improve Constituents' well-being.

Ajakaye in a teaser message released by his campaign team on Friday highlights five priorities to guide his activities, when elected.

The Reputable Journalist and former Chief Press Secretary to Kwara State Governor in his campaign theme tagged (Good Representative) listed the five pillars as effective representation, informed legislation, impactful projects, better life for constituents and stronger communities.

"Our commitment is simple: bring the dividends of representation to our communities and constituents, propose legislations that improve lives and public good, and serve as an effective mouthpiece for Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency on developmental needs, aspirations and challenges". Ajakaye explained.

The APC Candidate recently toured three local government areas in the Federal Constituency to engage stakeholders including traditional rulers, community leaders and party faithful ahead of 2027 general elections.

NNPCL To Deploy 70 Self-service Filling Stations

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has announced plans to deploy between 50 and 70 smart, self-service filling stations across the country within the next six months.

The company said the initiative was part of a broader plan to transform its conventional retail outlets into modern energy and mobility hubs, offering petrol, electric vehicle charging, liquefied petroleum gas, compressed natural gas and other services.

The Executive Vice President, Downstream, NNPC Limited, Mumuni Dagazau, disclosed this on Thursday in Abuja while speaking at the commissioning of a technology-driven service station with an electric vehicle charging facility. The mega station is located along Bill Clinton Drive, Airport Road.

Dagazau said the newly commissioned station was the first of several smart outlets that would be introduced nationwide, adding that the concept was to move beyond traditional petrol retailing to provide customers with multiple energy and mobility services in one location.

He said, “This is the first of many smart stations that we are going to have around the country. What the whole concept is, we are trying to turn from a filling station to an energy hub, and we are rolling out a lot of stations.

I think even in Abuja, for this type of station, we have about four or five. We have another two that we’re launching out in Kano. This sort of smart stations that we’re doing.

“We are hoping to roll out a significant number, probably about 50 to 70 of these types of stations within the next six months. So this is what you’ll be seeing going forward from NNPC.

“So what you see here is that we are using all sorts of energy available to us, including EV, electric energy. We are going to be using gas; we are going to be using petrol. So it’s a centre where you can come, and we are going to be calling it our energy hub.”

The new model will also allow customers to dispense petrol themselves, including at night, through a digital payment system, although attendants will remain at the stations to assist customers.

Sardauna of Ilorin: Sustaining the Pedigree and Royalty of AbdulRazaq Family

His Excellency, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is the son of the first Lawyer in Northern Nigeria, Alhaji AbdulGaniyu Folorunsho AbdulRazaq. The AbdulRazaq hails from Idigba in the ancient city of Ilorin.

The AbdulRazaqs are known for their pedigree in pursuing an excellent career, massive contributions toward community development and royal recognition to honour them for ALL GOOD DOINGS.

Their late patriarch, AGF AbdulRazaq was turbaned as the first Mutawali of Ilorin Emirate by His Royal Majesty, Emir of Ilorin. He was honoured with the traditional title in recognition of his contribution towards promoting development of the ancient city, especially in the area of human capital development. AGF as a private individual established and funded Ilorin College in 1967 with a view of providing quality education.

In the far north, he was also bestowed with royal honor as the Tafida of Zazzau Emirate (Zaria) in 1962. People conversant with the Northern Nigeria evolution would understand that Zazzau Emirate is one of the prestigious Emirates and centre of attraction in politics and economic.

Like father like son, Dr Alimi AbdulRazaq who trained as a Lawyer was named the Mutawali of Ilorin Emirate on July 21, 2021 by Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari. He succeeded his father that passed on in 2020. Dr Alimi is a reputable lawyer with a track record of excellence and national influence in legal education as well as practice.

It was therefore not surprising when the Emir of Ilorin announced Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as the Sardauna of Ilorin Emirate in August 2024.

Dr Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari while announcing AbdulRazaq said he compensates the governor’s love for and investment in the culture and tradition of the Emirate.

The Emir said: “I am convinced that Governor AbdulRazaq is not only popular, but he also believes in and promotes our tradition and custom. He made sure he participated actively in the annual Ilorin Grand Durbar. So he deserves the honour of a Chieftaincy title to do more. For this reason and by my prerogative power, I confer on you the Sardauna of Ilorin from today."

Frankly speaking, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has indeed elevated the outlook of Ilorin, the Kwara state capital with his strategic and deliberate investment in infrastructural development. The high profile guests including Head of Africa countries billed to attend his official turbaning on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 would witness the transformation in Kwara State under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

Kwara State University of Education: The Beautiful Legacy of AbdulRazaq

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in 2024 signed the bill establishing Kwara State University of Education, Ilorin into the law. The University is a product of solution-oriented administration led by Governor AbdulRazaq in addressing gaps in the sector.

Over the years, Kwarans with desire to further their education after obtaining College of Education Certificate usually settle for affiliate programmes in neighbouring states or compete for limited space available in the Federal University located in Kwara State.

Therefore, the establishment of Kwara State University of Education comes as a relief to both parents and students. They can now look inward for admission.

Excitingly, the University under the Vice Chancellor, Prof Medinat Folorunsho Salman started academic activities in 2025 and admission for the second set of students is ongoing.

As of today, hundreds of Kwarans have been employed in the institution with thousands of students in 20 accredited departments.

Kwara State University of Education permanent site is situated within Ilorin Smart City and construction of buildings is ongoing. This is another beautiful legacy of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. Future generations would continue to applaud His Excellency for his foresight.

Mashood Mustapha Rewards More Supporters in Second Phase of Empowerment Programme

The Wakilin of Ilorin Emirate and Chairman of Crystal Group of Companies, Hon. Mashood Mustapha (MM), has activated the second phase of his multi-million-naira empowerment programme, extending financial support to another batch of his loyal supporters.

Recall that in August 2026, the prominent statesman hosted his supporters at his GRA residence in Ilorin, where he rewarded selected beneficiaries with cars and cash gifts worth millions of naira. Beyond the selected beneficiaries, all invited guests at the event also received 10kg bags of rice and cash support.

While interacting with his supporters on the Team MM WhatsApp platform, the Former Federal Lawmaker had assured them that the empowerment programme would be a continuous initiative. He urged his supporters to remain committed, noting that those who stayed loyal to the team would, in due course, reap the rewards of their commitment.

Barely two weeks after making that assurance, another batch of supporters has benefited from the programme, receiving cash gifts ranging from ₦1 million to ₦500,000, while others received ₦250,000.

During the cash presentation, Hon. Mashood Mustapha, who was represented by a former member of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Isiaka Mogaji urged beneficiaries and supporters to remain calm, united and steadfast.

He reiterated that the efforts and loyalty of his supporters would not be in vain, assuring them that the empowerment programme was only the beginning of what lies ahead for Team MM.

Mogaji also thanked supporters for their steadfastness and loyalty, while encouraging them to remain united and focused. They stressed that the team would continue to move forward and make progress rather than regress.

Kwara 2027: PDP Candidate, Kale Kawu Faces Backlash for Installing Campaign Billboard on Main Road

Kwara PDP Governorship Candidate, Engr Kale Kawu has faced public backlash installing a campaign billboard for 2027 elections on a major road on Ilorin.

The billboard erected at Adabata junction drawn the public outrage as citizens expressed shock at the unlawful act of destruction of public infrastructure by Kale Kawu

The billboard was also seen visibly blocking the turning into the junction by drivers, thereby capable of endangering lives of the road users.

Several people have labelled the action as eroding public safety, urging politicians to curb desperation in their conducts as we approach the polls.

Some residents of Adabata have called on the Kwara State Signage and Advertising Agency to swing into action to correct the unlawful er****on of the billboard and take further steps to ensure other aspirants and political parties do not repeat the irresponsible conduct in the state.

Why US Keep Voting Against Africa’s Interests at United Nations — PeacePro

The Foundation for Peace Professionals (PeacePro) has questioned what it describes as a 20-year pattern of the United States repeatedly opposing African positions at the United Nations, asking whether Washington’s relationship with Africa truly reflects strategic partnership.

PeacePro’s concern follows the September 4 UN General Assembly vote on an African Union backed resolution, where 164 countries voted in favour, six abstained and the United States stood alone in opposition.

In a statement by its Executive Director, Abdulrazaq Hamzat, PeacePro said the latest vote should prompt a broader examination of US voting behaviour towards Africa over the past two decades.

“The map is not the story. The vote is. Why does the United States so frequently find itself on the opposite side when Africa speaks collectively at the United Nations?”

PeacePro said its review of UN voting records indicates that the US has opposed almost all Africa led proposals subjected to voting during the period under review.

The organisation stressed that its question is not anti-American, but diplomatic.

“One vote can be explained as disagreement. A recurring pattern over two decades requires examination and explanation.”

PeacePro therefore asked, “If Africa is genuinely a strategic partner of the United States, why do African collective positions so often collide with Washington’s diplomatic preferences at the UN?”

PeacePro said it is examining the voting record to determine how often the US has supported, opposed or abstained from African sponsored and Africa related resolutions, and whether the pattern has remained consistent across successive US administrations.

“We are not seeking to manufacture an anti-American narrative. We are asking an uncomfortable but legitimate diplomatic question, which is that, when Africa stands together at the UN, how often does the United States stand with Africa and how often does it stand against it?”
