As dawn broke on October 7, 2025, the people of Nsit Atai looked back with gratitude, a year gone, a journey begun, and a story of leadership told through visible transformation and silent commitment.

When Hon. Prince Anthony Nyong took the oath of office in October 2024, he made a promise, to lead with purpose, to serve with compassion, and to redefine grassroots governance through projects that touch lives and strengthen institutions.

One year later, that promise has blossomed into tangible progress; steady, visible, and deeply felt across the Local Government Area.

From his first days in office, Hon. Nyong went to work with determination.
Graders roared, dust rose, and the once-neglected roads of Nsit Atai began to find renewal.
The grading of internal roads across communities has eased movement, boosted local trade, and reconnected people to opportunities.

At the heart of governance, the Nsit Atai Council Secretariat now wears a new look, fenced for security, renovated for efficiency, and strengthened with ongoing work on the main administrative building. The Chairman has vowed to bequeath a modernized secretariat that reflects the true status and pride of Nsit Atai.

Beyond the Secretariat, the administration has extended access to clean water through newly constructed solar-powered water facilities at the INEC office, the Nsit Division of the Nigeria Police Force, Idiaba community, and the Umo Eno Model Farm, the latter serving both the community and irrigation purposes.

On the fertile soil of Nsit Atai, the Chairman sowed a vision, one of food security and youth empowerment.
Through the Umo Eno Model Farm, acres of green now speak of diligence and innovation. Rows of cucumber, pepper, tomatoes, maize, cassava, and waterleaf rise proudly, tended by young farmers who now see agriculture not as a struggle, but as an enterprise.

To create job opportunities and encourage self-reliance, the Chairman has employed 50 Nsit Atai indigenes to work on the farm, alongside several contract staff at the Council Secretariat.

The administrationโ€™s partnership with the Bank of Agriculture has further empowered local farmers, offering training and financial access, planting seeds not only in the soil, but in the future.

Health, they say, is wealth, and in Nsit Atai, it has become a reality.
Under Hon. Nyongโ€™s watch, free medical outreaches brought relief to homes long burdened by illness.
More than 70 people successfully underwent appendicitis surgeries, sponsored by the Chairman in collaboration with the Helen Keller Foundation.

An ambulance has also been restored for the Primary Health Centre in Odot, ensuring timely response to emergencies.
The newly installed solar water facilities further guarantee that clean water flows where health and safety matter most.

For over a decade, some communities lived in darkness. But under this administration, the night gave way to light.
Ikot Abasi, Ndon Ikot Itie Udung, and the Council Secretariat now glow again, powered by three 500KVA transformers supplied by the council.

Today, businesses hum, children study by lamplight once more, and the quiet joy of electricity returns as a symbol of hope restored.
Other communities yet to benefit have been scheduled for the next phase of the electricity project.

Education remains a cornerstone of Hon. Nyongโ€™s vision.
Through school fee interventions, several students in higher institutions have received support to continue their education without financial strain.
More than 4,000 school bags and learning materials have been distributed across 23 public primary schools, bringing relief to parents and encouragement to pupils.

Every book distributed is a message, that the future of Nsit Atai is bright, and it begins with educated children.

In an age when peace is the foundation of growth, Hon. Nyong has maintained strong collaboration with security agencies to preserve harmony across the Local Government.
Regular engagements with traditional rulers, youths, and stakeholders have kept the area calm, safe, and conducive for living and investment.

As a mark of support, the administration provided a solar water facility to the Nsit Division of the Nigeria Police Force, improving the welfare of officers who help sustain that peace.

Beyond infrastructure and agriculture, Hon. Prince Anthony Nyong has rekindled the flame of sportsmanship in Nsit Atai.
At the just-concluded Akwa Ibom State Sports Festival, Nsit Atai blazed a trail of excellence, finishing third overall with 19 gold medals, a feat never before achieved in the Local Governmentโ€™s history.

It was more than victory; it was a statement, that Nsit Ataiโ€™s youth are gifted, disciplined, and destined for greatness when given the right support.
Today, the once-forgotten playgrounds of Nsit Atai are alive again with training, energy, and purpose.

As he steps into his second year in office, Hon. Prince Anthony Nyong has set his sights on trade and investment, with plans to revive abandoned local markets and boost commercial activities across the area.
This, he believes, will expand economic opportunities and empower small-scale traders to thrive once again.

As Hon. Prince Anthony Nyong marks one year of service, his resolve remains unbroken and his vision undimmed.
He speaks with quiet conviction:

"Our journey has just begun. We will not relent until every community in Nsit Atai feels the impact of good governance."

And so, the people celebrate, not just a year of service, but a story of progress;
not just a Chairman, but a leader whose footprints of transformation continue to shape the landscape of Nsit Atai.

For in every completed project, in every life touched, and in every promise kept,
the poetry of progress continues to unfold.

๐Ÿšซ Say No to Open Defecation

Open defecation remains a serious public health challenge in many communities. It is the practice of passing human waste in open places such as bushes, roadsides, rivers, and uncompleted buildings. This unhygienic act poses grave dangers to our health, our environment, and our dignity as a people.

Health Implications

Open defecation contaminates water sources and spreads deadly diseases such as cholera, typhoid, diarrhea, and dysentery.
Children are particularly vulnerable, often suffering from preventable illnesses and poor growth due to repeated exposure to germs.

Environmental Consequences

When human waste is left in the open, it pollutes the air, water, and soil. During rainfall, f***s are washed into streams and wells, making the water unsafe for drinking and household use. The result is a cycle of sickness and poverty that affects the entire community.

Loss of Dignity and Safety

Open defecation exposes people, especially women and girls, to the risk of harassment and loss of privacy. It devalues our sense of decency and undermines the image of our communities.

The Way Forward

Build and use toilets or latrines at home and in public places.

Maintain clean and functional sanitation facilities.

Educate others on the importance of good hygiene and proper waste disposal.

Support government and community efforts aimed at achieving Open Defecation Free (ODF) status in your area.

Good sanitation is everyoneโ€™s responsibility.

Together, let us protect our health, preserve our environment, and restore our dignity.

How will you react to this as a parent?

My student's 4-year-old son had his finger mysteriously chopped off in school on Friday.
The school authority didn't reach out to the parent but went to treat the child and the teacher told the boy's sister to tell the parents not to open the bandage.
The child was in serious pain all through Friday night, and they had to take him to a nurse on Saturday. The bandage was opened, and they saw the severity of the injury.
From Friday to Monday morning, the school never reached out to the family until the parents went there on Monday morning.
Now, the school is saying it's their wooden door that chopped off the boy's finger. How does a wooden door chop off a person's finger?
Ok, where is the remaining part that was cut off? They said the doctor threw it away. As how na???

Omo things like this go wan burst person head.

READ CAREFULLY: WHEN LATE Muhammadu Buhari SAID THOSE WAITING TO LOOT NIGERIA ARE MUCH MORE THAN THOSE WHO'RE CURRENTLY LOOTING, HE WASN'T MINCING WORDS

For the first time today, I realized that the problem of Nigeria is not only leadership per say, but the opportunists nature of its citizens.

I was scheduled for an appointment at the Russian Embassy Abuja by 11am today, and somehow, I missed my way to the Embassy. Instead of the Russian Embassy, I found myself at the UN Office which had the same structure painting with the Russian Embassy. I checked my time and it was 10:42am. Looking frustrated, I asked for directions and the security guards directed me to a cluster of Taxi Drivers at the opposite side. I crossed to the other side and immediately about five of the Taxi Drivers rushed towards me.

"Oga where you dey go"? They asked simultaneously

"Russian Embassy" I responded

"Ahhhhh! Russian Embassy. E far o" one of the men responded.

"Is about two hours drive from here" the man added

"How much will you take me there"? I asked

"Oga na 30k o" he responded

My heart skip.

I was pleading and negotiating with this man to please accept 20k as I was running out of time but he stood his ground.

A Hausa man hawking orange who was following our conversation, came behind me and whispered in Hausa "Dan dai kana sauri ne, Amman akasama zaka iya zuwa Russian Embassy" (if not because you are in a haste, you can trek to Russian Embassy).

The orange hawker then instructed me to follow him. I checked my time and it was 10:49am.

We trekked few miles, take just two turns and crossed over an overhead bridge. Boom! We are at the front of Russian Embassy.

I checked my time and it was 10:57am. I could not help but hug the man tightly until the orange on his stray start falling. We chatted for few minutes. He told me he came all the way from Ingawa Local Government in Katsina State. I told him I am from Funtua local government in Katsina State. We quickly exchange contact and I dash off.

While waiting for my turn to be invited into the Embassy, my mind traveled back to the Taxi Driver I was desperately begging to accept 20k. Some of us are worse than the leaders we complain everyday about. It's just opportunity we lack.
